How can you judge what IS wrong? To judge, in this way, means to be biased, boisterous, faultless, etc. When I asked about your age was not to judge your intellect. But as YOU get older, you WILL get wiser. As I HAVE learned, things that I used to believe were not totally accurate. There are some "Wrongs" in my life. I accept those and others in the future. Martial arts are like religion....everyone seems to have an Answer and Opinion. And you know the saying about "opinions". -
Tricks for quickly disabling an opponent.
47MartialMan replied to WhiteDragon's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
[quote....you gotta make them fight your fight ,you gotta create the time and space for your techniques, you can't be spontanouse unless you have some combinations soaked in your body&mind ready to use, this only comes by mastering the combinations. other thing, attackting joints can make permanent damegs to the opponent, like hitting the knee from front and side. after all if you go to the court you need to show that you didn't use excessive force . Good point -
This always sounds a little too off pat to me. I think that in typical Martial Art style people just want a more zen reason for the coloured belts they wear. The belts are there to a) show instructors at your dojo what they can expect out of you b) a 'trophy' signifying your progress in the arts c) generate money for gradings d) provide structure and stature Angela Nicely written and noted. Yes, THIS is what BECAME of it. I am speaking of generalization of its basic origin.

Yeah, I've seen film and LIVE demos. Assisted in demos. Performed some demos.Trained with supposed Masters. Felt "certain" strikes. I have seen, been taught, and found Chi Kung or other Demos to be fake or staged. Learning that I was able to get a commoner, with no training to do the same. As I seen each demo, I suggested Chi demonstrators upon bringing in my own material to which was always replied “NO”. Seems they were concerned with getting injured which was to prove by using Chi, they could not. Strange? It is just the subconscious mind. Mind over matter, adrenaline rushes, and some staged parlor tricks. I used to be in entertainment, I did Magic Shows. I am in a Magicians Guild. A close relative is a newspaper journalist and helped me researched amazing feats of human abilties supported by modern medicine as adrealine and extraordinary mental anxiety. I am not convinced but I am STILL researching the subject. I haven't totally "closed the book on it".

Jake's list of people never to mess with.
47MartialMan replied to Mu Ryuk's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think I read somewhere that there WAS a match or two on the Gracie Challenge that the Gracie lost. This, perhaps, the reason they are no longer in the "spotlight" -
Again.....nicely written.

Crazy sometimes cannot beat a bullet. If Ii see someone going crazy, I liable to call the padded wagon" Others, may not, they just may shoot him to get him out of the misery. But then again, we do tell women in our self defense classes that it could me a tactic. -
martial art shoes
47MartialMan replied to sickwithit13's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Out of sincere curiousity, what would be considered as the correct type of shoes? -
Sometimes people hate what they can't perform well. Or sometimes people hate from lack of understanding. Or some people hate from unpleasantry of uncomfortability. Why hate?

Same here. 30 years...how old are you? -
So far, I haven't seen any proof of it. Modern science, medicine, and physics seem to dismiss it. However, I still try to look for it.

Wing Chun
47MartialMan replied to granmasterchen's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Very very true...... I agree. But then again, the moment someone comes along with different info, they are wrongly blamed. Others just keep re-writing and re-using the same as others. Copying what they read or heard and re-wording it. -

My "digging" has uncovered that, but I have many books on symbols. I was hoping you had something that I could actually read.
