  1. Again, is "do" Japanese, Korean, or Chinese?
  2. MY I know it goes back further, I gave another example, WWII of Japan's control and deculturize a country. I can go onto Korean culture history which its martial arts were greatly affected.
  3. No MJ, I am talking about "Chi is real....not a "parlor trick" Again: Chi/Ki, cannot thoroughly be explained thorough verbalization, it has to be experienced. Until I find/experience it, I am not inclined to believe it.
  4. I accordance with MJ last post: So, Jeet kune Do Tang So Do, tae Kwon Do...etc., has a Japanese suffix?
  5. The term Samurai came from the an old Chinese one, samurahi, vassal Yes, people had used to think they were tetsed on horse, i.e. the "ten-horse test". Absurd, they "prized" their horses. Human life was expendable.
  6. So YOU say
  7. I am talking about the suffix "do" attached to arts. Is "do" Japanese? MJ, the Japanese "stole" Karate. Okinawa's location made it a "exchange center" for China and Japan. They were rivals. To keep from "loosing face", the Japanese, as they had attempted in WWII, try to de-culturize Okinawa while taking its resources.
  8. Personally, I like the Samurai swords and armor. I like the Ninja........ On the Samurai subject: Anyone know waht Samurai means and where the origin of it came from? Anyone know how the Samurai tested their "blades"?
  9. Good books...I have them and some others
  10. 1.) What about Tang So Do? 2.) Shorin ryu? 3.) Jeet Kune Do? shaolin-do Tell me about them....
  11. Ok Here is my definition (actually one of my instructors) of the term "martial arts", besides the English dictionary: The Martial Arts, 1.) is the "title" given to any study, system, or style of fighting. 2.) the arm forces/military, can be considered as a martial art. 3.) in the analogy that "sports" is the title given to any atheltic activity. 4.) therefore given the latter, a martial art can become a "sport".
  12. My conclusion: The best ways to end a fight: 1.) Not BE in the fight to begin with. 2.) If you make it home, the best ending.
  13. Imagine dear john if you live 3x the age you are now.... Then you can truely say you had "lived a lot". Perhaps your perspective is in comparison with other 19 year olds. And if you are "ready to go" and that you are "depressed with no girlfriend", then it proves the point that it is harder to live than to die.
  14. Not really MJ, It was more like: "Ladies and Gentlemen I am going to make this bird disappear"...I would wing up making it a rabbit. This was a mild one. Animals had to be trained for performance as well. (Sometimes an arduous task) Thus, experience in "magic", has me scrutinizing Chi/Ki demos. To the subject of Ki, as per the other thread Chi. To find closure: Chi/Ki, cannot thoroughly be explained thorough verbalization, it has to be experienced. That I may add: "So far I am still researching and have not experienced"
  15. Did the stage thing... I performed as a bumbling comedic Magician.
  16. Well. I guess this thread is dead... Hey that ryhmes, I can now create a song. Seriously, the author seemed to have done well.
  17. Did you use your skills and get it out if a crane machine? MJ, you're are keeping me in this mood.
  18. What that a bout a free cucumber?
  19. Back to the thread: It is my opinion that Chi cannot be fully explained through verbalization, it has to be experienced.
  20. Back to the thread.... Good of my style:::: I don't have just one, my instructors send me to others with a full "blessing" Bad of my style::::: I don't have just one, my instructors send me to others with a full "blessing"
  21. Yes.... It was the "One-liner Police" MJ, Hide your dots. Including those dotted underwear (I don't have those, I have brown-striped ones) The "Dot Police" are looking for you. Sorry WW As the cow would say when the bull is upon her.... I am in one of those moooooods also.
  22. One of my instructors had often said that. Along with: "Do unto others BEFORE they do unto you"
