  1. Whats far worse than someone not shutting up is for a instructor in letting it continue
  2. Float like butterfly. sting like a.............
  3. When speaking of TKD, one must not forget. Most American or that outside of Korea are mainly sport-oriented. In Korea, and practiced hard to those conditons, it is strong. One guy I know teaching it, straight from Korea, does not have any juvenile students. His classes are robust, almost like a military boot camp. Methods, are those "like/emulating" Hapkido, Tang So Do, Yudo, and Kung Fu rolled into one. Hardly any "forms are done". High kicking is for exercise only and not during his defense practices.
  4. Yeah, it's a shame that some are in the Martial Art Teaching Business, instead of the business of Teaching Martial Arts
  5. Yeah, perhaps another good reason to cross train

  9. How about Belt Blues? Does each color have a different blue? I guess. But along with the belt blues, don't forget the "Tourney Blues". Or the "First Class" blues. Nice starting thread, though.
  10. Nice point/post. I had a instructor that would do nothing out of fear of loosing the customer, er student.
  11. If you eat yuor cereal with milk, as long it is not the same "ol" milk
  12. Does it matter? He made a good point that I had agreed with.
  13. I stand corrected from "less aggressive", to "safer".
  14. In theory, we can post about the many techniques to end a fight. But, doesn't half of this depends on the opponent and their abilities?
  15. But is practice based upon a theory, or do we practice theories to become better each time we practice? And on theory, the more we practice, the better we become in the moment of "truth". Which in theory, is one aspect of the training.
  16. No, I am not claiming ALL to be bad. It is kinda strange that such a place is continually propagandized, commercialized, and over-"indulged". I guess, if they wanted it to be this way, from its start, they would have built it near a city instead of a remote mountain(s).
  17. One thing is for sure, if a boxer cant "take a hit", he should not be there (a boxer) in the first place. Is is what is called a "glass jaw" (or chin). Or in some cases a gusher (easy bleeder)
  18. Matter of subject? Per all of them are the same subject but different ways of spelling them?
  19. I guess it will be hard to do a effective elbow from someone 5'-1 on someone 6'-4?
  20. Yeah, but thrn that would be out of his "weight" class.
  21. Kane, Being in "shape" cannot totally prevent aches. If the part of the body is not used to it, it will ache. Of course, a imroper method will cause discomfort also.
  22. Heh heh, you made the point of a story against a Aikidio instructor, a fake jab followed by another. Hmmn......I gues it depends of the level.
  23. Thanks. We evacuated to Natchitoches, LA. It's normally a 5 hour drive, but took us 14 hours with all the other refugees. How about you? Kicks-Stayed Home Shorinryu Sensei, could you further explain or describe you definition of blind tactics?
