  1. Hi, I recived an offer yesterday. An Instructor, 6th Dan Black belt in Goju ryu karate asked if i'd like to be part of his "Intensive Instructor's Program" that is going to start in about two more weeks. I had an interview with him, He show me his credentials, Belt Certificates, Affiliantions, etc, etc... the paper work. The thing is, i already trained in Karate and Taekwondo, so he'll teach me and take me to the Assistant Instructor level to help him with a Schools he'll open next year. He already have a school operating but he wants to expand the bussiness. The Program includes: Traditional Okinawan Goju ryu Karate, Chi Kung, Basic Japanese language, Body Guards training programs, shiatsu massage, Teory of how to run a bussiness, how to teach adults, Childrens, Rape Prevention, Self Defense (This programs include techniques of other arts he's trained surch as Wing Chun, Kali, Judo, jiu-jitsu,etc..). what do you think?
  2. Hi, We have heard many times about the Kata and there combat applications. The Bunkai training is vital to understand where are the techniques and how to use that form for self defense. This is common in Japanese and Okinawan Karate styles. Now, the WTF TKD seems to not have combat applications neither for the Taeguk or advanced Black Belts forms. Do you train Forms applications in your TKD Forms training? Any info about it perhaps? thanks
  3. Respect to the great martial artists mention already.
  4. Oh yes, thanks for reminding me that... Bruce Lee also worked with Ed parker in Kenpo Karate.
  5. All i can say is a Greco-Roman Wrestler with knowledge of Submissions and Boxing skills is a fighting i wouldn't want to have problems with.
  6. Oh my, this is it.... Kensai Crosstraining and now putting an online challenge against All BJJ commers.. Wasn't this the same guy who preaches peace and armony ? Good God this dude has change.!!! lol
  7. I cleanning my room and found an old magazine which have an article about JKD and the 26 elements Bruce Lee use to create JKD. Its said that, he used like 5% to 10% in some, and a lot more in others. 1.Wing Chun 2.Northen Praying Mantis 3.Sourthen Praying Mantis 4.Choy Lee Fut 5.Eagle claw kung fu 6.Wu Tai Chi 7.Pa Kua 8.Hsing I 9.Bak Hoo Pai (white crane)*Bak Fu Pai (White Tiger) 10.Ng Ga Kuen 11.Bak mei Pai 12.Northen Shaolin 13.Sourthen Shaolin 14.NY Ying Ga (NY?? maybe means New York lol) 15.Book Pal 16.Iaw Horn Kuen 17.Chin Na 18.Monkey Style 19.Drunken Style 20.Fencing 21.Boxing 22.Wrestling 23.Jiu Jitsu 24.Filipino Fencing 25.Filipino sirakan 26.Muay Thai. That's the list. BUT i feel isn't complete because we have testimonies of some aditional training he had and that he DID included those techniques in his JKD arsenal. I also feel that list is a little biased with the Chinese Styles that he may or may not added to his JKD. Other Styles that Bruce Lee DID trained are: Hapkido-hi jae han Taekwondo-Jhoon Rhee Tangsoodo-Chuck Norris Karate-Joe Lewis Judo-Gene LeBell
  8. But well, for the people who don't have access to a BJJ dojo or don't have the money to train because they charge too much for lessons or plain and simple there arent interest in BJJ. Judo is a very good option. lol
  9. Why just don't go to Both Schools, train there, talk to the instructors and go with the one YOU like the most. At the end, its up to what works better for you.
  10. Finally!!!! Congratulations
  11. "Bjj Basics from white to blue belt" by Gene Simco. https://www.jiu-jitsu.net I've heard wonders about this book. Brazilian jiu jitsu 101 series T.1 Escapes T.2 Pins T.3 Leg Locks https://www.royharris.com best Tapes series for a beginner.
  12. Kenpo, Judo, Brazilian jiu jitsu, Iaido, maybe Chito ryu karate.
  13. Oh well, if you already well rounded in the pistol jutsu art then it doesn't matter if the style you train takes you a while to be good at. lol
  14. It's always good for people who have done only Striking Arts to take grappling. You'll learn a whole world of new techniques and skills that you won't see in standing arts, that will make you better overall.
  15. I'm a begginer level in grappling, everything seems hard when you read it. lol
  16. Nothing is imposible. But that's not very likely to happend.
  17. Yes, A submission that can be performed by Highly skilled ground fighters as the Brazilian Top Team are. I can't see myself doing something like that yet. lol Im still wayyyyyyyyyyyy out of there league. lol!
  18. Kobudo is related to karate, but not all Karate schools teach kobudo, not all the JAPANESE karate i mean. I've seen many Japanese karate(shotokan,kyokushin,enshin,etc..) schools that doesn't have kobudo programs. But its very likely you'll find Kobudo in most if not all Okinawan karate(shorin ryu, goju ryu, uechi ryu, etc.) Schools.
  19. It's Very very Hard to really know what happend because nowbody is old enough. There isn't just one human being alive that can be witness. The History isn't clear. Now, that story about the Samurais stealing Books from Shaolin Monks reminds me the Plot of a Kung fu movie called "Duel to the Death" lol Ninja stealing books from Shaolin from orders of the Japan's Emperor. lol!
  20. Kobudo is good also.... I have just one book on kobudo "BO: karate weapon of self defense by Fumio Demura" Any other recomendations??
  21. I first Started when i was 16 years old...
  22. Well, I once took a Tai Chi Seminar from the Chinese/Panamenian Cultural Center and they brought the Instructor directly from China. Maybe that's the good thing you may have. Also, you may learn to speak some Japanese besides the chance to train with a Instructor from Japan.
  23. In my personal opinion A Traditional style is one that has been practiced for years and years with little to no change in there techniques and performance. have an old story. Rich in cultural traditions of the country the style was created. A Modern Style is usually a style that has been born out of the combination of traditional styles, change training methods. Have less than 40-50 years of creation. A Modern Style can turn into a traditional styles if its keep practiced the same way for years and years with little to no changes. A traditional Style can be turned into a Modern just by crosstraining, adding diferent techniques from other styles, and changing the training method. Some Traditionals Styles are: Okinawan Karate (shorinryu, goju ryu ) Japanese Karate (shotokan) Daitoryu Aikijujutsu Kenjutsu Ninjutsu Aikido Tang Soo Do/soo bhak Do Muay Thai/kabri kabron Tai Chi Chuan Shaolin Kung Fu Wing Chun Shorinji Kempo Iaido/Kendo Kyudo Sumo Taekwondo ITF Modern styles can be: Muay thai/Kickboxing Jeet Kune do Krav Maga American Kenpo Karate Hapkido Taekwondo WTF Brazilian Jiu jitsu Choi Kwan Do Sambo Karate Kyokushin
  24. I've see him fighting and I feel He have a great chance.
