How do you summon your "Chi"
Luckykboxer replied to Red Triangle student's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
ok i have the thesis.... printed :/ now i have to retype it in /sigh -
call first. When i was in a search for a new school when i moved i called all the schools i could ahead of time adn told them my situation and they almost all seemed more then happy to have me come in. Especially the ones that were my same style. Also if worst comes to worst and they ask you for a 10dollar fee or whatever they might ask at least you know ahead of time and when you get there there is no hard feelings or akwardness

WHO WOULD WIN IN A TOURNAMENT?
Luckykboxer replied to RONIN W's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
regardless of Jackie Chans fighting skills, I bet he would one damn hard person to actually hit. That guy can maneuver and contort himself like no other person i have ever seen I dont think i would fear him in a fight, but i fear what my ego would take when i just happened to miss my 214th straight punch of kick and hes doing backspins and flips and chuckling, saying " lets be friends!" -

Lets Discuss the "Dim Mak" (Death Touch)
Luckykboxer replied to GoldDragon's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
now the last post makes alot more sense to me. What i have a tough time swallowing is the mystical aspects people give things. I have trouble buying that anyone can just poke someone in a few spots and cause irreperable damage. At the same time I think that everyone will agree that a hard enough punch will crush a trachea...if thats the case then i think its reasonable to say that other organs can be damaged as well. I am not sure i buy the ability to strike nerves and have them deliver the bad news at a later time though. i guess im going to have to go fork out the money and read a book. -
I like articles like this. This martial artist is someone i probably wouldnt have ever become familiar with, its nice to learn more about a person from another place other then where i am from.

thank god thre are other people around that think this way. I often think Chivalry is dead as well. It amazes me when people dont do the simple things anymore I wish they would teach ettiquette classes in school now days

Crosstraining across Japanese and Chinese MA's
Luckykboxer replied to Spaceman's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
they are mixed. American Kenpo has aspects from both styles, Japanese and Chinese and has included them into the system. I am sure that it isnt the only style either. I think that alot of people who are into the traditional styles work hard to master that particular style, and since mastering a style takes a lifetime, and since there are other aspects that may prevent someone from cross training... like availablity or cost etc. that you dont see alot of people doing it. the biggest reason i see people cross training in different styles is for competition in MMA matches, and usually they are not crosstraining in traditional forms of either system but rather in some form of grappling... usually BJJ atm.... and some form of striking..... usually kickboxing and boxing. I see people tossing in things like Tai Chi but unfortunately i think that the peopel who take the traditional styles.... on the most part there are obviously exceptions.... take that style for as long as they can -
ummm they may want to check with anotehr insurance company, or maybe you can do it for them. As long as you are certified in CPR and basic first aid and can provide that certification to the insurance agencies you should be able to be added on fairly cheaply... and when i say fairly cheaply i mean like 20-50 dollars more a month tops. if they are saying it costs too much, it sounds to me like they either dont have coverage now, or they dont need the intructor now, or something else odd is going on.

hooters girls in bikinis washing cares with lots of suds.. /drools. umm but actually... check with your local restaurants, alot of times they will be willing to do a day where you get a portion of the proceeds, in exchange for you promoting them, and offering some volunteer service. car washes might be good as well. try self defense seminars to the general public. /shrug

this one time.... at band camp..... I pulled this guys finger..... and well it messed not only with his chi, but it messed with the entire cabins chi.... we slept out in tents that night :/ dangerous stuff i tell you... /sarcasm off. I am a complete non believer in this. -
ok that makes more sense... in october i am attempting to do 12 stacks of 3 inch bricks ranging from 1 brick to 12 bricks. so that comes out too.... 3 feet?? ugg i shouldnt have thought of it like that :/ the brick stats are actually taken from the guiness world records. but i am going back to thinking of 12 3 inch bricks... the other way is too blech... hehe
-
when you say two feet thick.... can you explain that further please. I assume you mean bricks stacked on top of each other with spacers to equal 2 feet? everytime i hear two feet thick it makes me think of 1 big block of two foot thick concrete. I would love to see someone break that, but i doubt that is possible, unless there is a very specific trick to how the concrete block is made

where did i say pull your toes up? dont put words in my mouth, I never said that. if thats how you say they are not bending their toes then yes you are correct. ok maybe you viewing something differently but i looked at every picture there and couldnt find one example of someone pointing their toes down. I am curious where you learned that toes down is ok? The reason I ask is because I have trained with 3 world champions, and half a dozen Thai fighters, and several more who trained in Thailand, and all of them were very specific on the pointing down of toes on shin blocks. I wont discount that someone teaches it that way, I wont discount that you learned it that way. If it works for you great, what I am saying is that by pointing your toes down you open yourself up to much more injury then if you dont point your toes. When I train fighters, or work with fighters I am always adamant on this point, and as much as I will try to be open minded, I know the risk for Injury on this one too well.
