it has similar rules as in the the movie blood sport and it also has "team Fighting" its every three years and it tries to keep damage to a minumu...you can win tha fight but not necessarily win the competition...you get points for honorablility and agression....except it is real...There actually was an under ground Kumate as in blood sport but the people who ran the Kumate said they never heard of Frank Dux and that he never competed

I read about a scientific study on this...They say one of the best defensive stance is mauy tai kick boxing....the best offensive stance because it allows extremely quick movements and if done right won't cause you to lose power was actually TKD's stance...which is ironic since there are so many people who consider it a weak art... ...but it really probably depends on a persons body type thus there is probably no true best fighting stance...bruce lee's fighting stance was ranked on the top as a total fighting stance what ever that means...mainly because it allows great protection and quick reflexes

Wong Shun Leung...
mastertae replied to mastertae's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
of course...yip man was and is still a very important man...by the way...yip man also defeated leung with ease...and he wasnt as traditional as people realized he like leung and bruce lee had been modifying the techniques and so forth so it is he who is truly responsible for both men -
yes...and...no....in order for the art to be effective the person has to be effective in the art therefore the art is still relying on the person...thus it is the person not the art that is effective

well the site doesnt say any thing about the ITF....but i did read some were that there were members of the itf in taekwondo won
-
it was in a black belt magazine and is also on the internet: http://www.ustw.org/

it is not the art that is effective it is the person and how he or she wishes to utilize a tool...you can not build a house with only nails and you cannot build a house with only a hammer....you need a combination of things to be efficient...to be effective you have to begin by believeing in ones self...than you should work hard to succed toward your goal and if you finally reach on plateu in martial art reach for another goal...working hard and xperience is the key success

a new orignization of taekwondo has formed...masters from both the ITF and WTF as well as respected members of Kukkiwon has banded together to help preserve the traditionality of the art.

Grappling in TKD
mastertae replied to Cory Reynolds's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
going onto your stomach in tkd should not have been emphasised! TKD has specific techniques used to get back on your feet...i have learned from from 2 grandmasters of tkd and hapkido...and they strongly emphasize not to go on your back...there are also proper ways to fall...there are only a few instance were a person should ever roll onto their stomachs...in tkd most falls go into an immediate roll back onto your feet...in hapkido there are many ways to reverse a persons attack... -
Traditional Korean Arts???
mastertae replied to Piastre's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
well it is currently known that not all of taekwondo came from japan...infact they found photos in the korean sewers a few months before the japanese invasion...but since japan did mangae to take over korea....some japanese arts probably were incorporated thus you actually have a blend of old and new!...also if you look at ancient texts some describe japanese delegates learning Soo Bak Do...which is an ancient form of taekwondo...from the korean royal guards...so japanese and korean arts have been evolving together for centuries...though neither country is willing to admit this...there are korean blood lines in the japanese blood lines and vice versa...there were many taekyons schools that were put together after the war obviouly they had to make some changes so they had to incorporate the japanese arts as well....to both histories are correct!
