  1. it has similar rules as in the the movie blood sport and it also has "team Fighting" its every three years and it tries to keep damage to a minumu...you can win tha fight but not necessarily win the competition...you get points for honorablility and agression....except it is real...There actually was an under ground Kumate as in blood sport but the people who ran the Kumate said they never heard of Frank Dux and that he never competed
  2. long time ago both ITF and WTF use to allow punching to the face if you were a blck belt and only during the third round...but was changed because it was considered too violent...should they bring punching to the face back?
  3. I read about a scientific study on this...They say one of the best defensive stance is mauy tai kick boxing....the best offensive stance because it allows extremely quick movements and if done right won't cause you to lose power was actually TKD's stance...which is ironic since there are so many people who consider it a weak art... ...but it really probably depends on a persons body type thus there is probably no true best fighting stance...bruce lee's fighting stance was ranked on the top as a total fighting stance what ever that means...mainly because it allows great protection and quick reflexes
  4. in ancient korea they use to have toournaments in which they faught to the death though most peole didn't get killed. Instead of every seven years like the Japanese it is done every three years. Its pretty interesting if I may say. :argue:....lol...
  5. chin na techniques are very important in the preying mantis kung fu.
  6. since TKD was formed using the original 2000 year old taekkyon arts in which other arts from japan and china were incorporated it is very likely that TKD was meant to use with other arts...Many korean grandmasters also do hapkido and teach in the korean military
  7. Many experts say that preying mantis gung fu is better for people with long slendor arms...supposedly when leung was a lot younger he faught against a preying mantis practitioner and lost....what do you think does the physical body determine what art is best suited for a person?
  8. What is your ideas of what a kung fu practitioner should be? I believe that Kung Fu not only teaches an art but has many great Philosophocle meaning.
  9. hi
  10. Sharp-shooting should it be considered an art if so Why is not Why not?
  11. one of best thing about kung fu is that it can be applied into other arts smoother than most of the others...such as it can br applied to TKD which many practitioners find to work well together....
  12. it is also said that obsession is ok...but dont let the obsession control you...
  13. actually ive learned some tang soo do... it is also considered by many practitioners to be one of the ancient korean arts that was incorporates into tkd...but wanted to also be seperate at the same time....
  14. of course...yip man was and is still a very important man...by the way...yip man also defeated leung with ease...and he wasnt as traditional as people realized he like leung and bruce lee had been modifying the techniques and so forth so it is he who is truly responsible for both men
  15. yes...and...no....in order for the art to be effective the person has to be effective in the art therefore the art is still relying on the person...thus it is the person not the art that is effective
  16. well the site doesnt say any thing about the ITF....but i did read some were that there were members of the itf in taekwondo won
  17. it was in a black belt magazine and is also on the internet: http://www.ustw.org/
  18. thanxs...
  19. it is not the art that is effective it is the person and how he or she wishes to utilize a tool...you can not build a house with only nails and you cannot build a house with only a hammer....you need a combination of things to be efficient...to be effective you have to begin by believeing in ones self...than you should work hard to succed toward your goal and if you finally reach on plateu in martial art reach for another goal...working hard and xperience is the key success
  20. a new orignization of taekwondo has formed...masters from both the ITF and WTF as well as respected members of Kukkiwon has banded together to help preserve the traditionality of the art.
  21. my 8th degree grandmaster was a member of both the ITF and the WTF so sure... ...my ninth degree also new both the ITF and WTF ruled but was only part of wtf
  22. going onto your stomach in tkd should not have been emphasised! TKD has specific techniques used to get back on your feet...i have learned from from 2 grandmasters of tkd and hapkido...and they strongly emphasize not to go on your back...there are also proper ways to fall...there are only a few instance were a person should ever roll onto their stomachs...in tkd most falls go into an immediate roll back onto your feet...in hapkido there are many ways to reverse a persons attack...
  23. well it is currently known that not all of taekwondo came from japan...infact they found photos in the korean sewers a few months before the japanese invasion...but since japan did mangae to take over korea....some japanese arts probably were incorporated thus you actually have a blend of old and new!...also if you look at ancient texts some describe japanese delegates learning Soo Bak Do...which is an ancient form of taekwondo...from the korean royal guards...so japanese and korean arts have been evolving together for centuries...though neither country is willing to admit this...there are korean blood lines in the japanese blood lines and vice versa...there were many taekyons schools that were put together after the war obviouly they had to make some changes so they had to incorporate the japanese arts as well....to both histories are correct!
