  1. also chain punching aloows a person to "roll "into a an attack with very little blocking you can hit people in between certain moves
  2. prssure points and dim mak points are different...dim mak points are technically pressure points that when pressed in certain ways may kill you within a certain time....but there is no scientific evidence...a group of scientists is currently doing research on dim mak points!...pressure point actually does have scientific research to back it up....though it is still being studied
  3. Taekkyondo...Soo Bak Do...the true ancient form of tkd and tsd....which very few koreans still know....though most archeologists believe that there are people out there who know this ancient art....if so why do they keep it hidden!...the reason they think this is because it is very improbable for any form of a cultural arts like the korean arts to have disappeard within roughly 50-70 yrs....infact normally the art tends to historically spread....thus which is the real deal....koreans have been known to keep record infact they found photos of people doing martial arts in the sewers before and during japanese rule....so than what exactly happened....it is obvios that there would have to be people out there that has info on the original arts....some prolly started learning as earl as fivr thus the may be in their fifties...many ancient documants believed to be the ancient korean arts are too badly damaged to read but may be one day the mystery will finally be answered
  4. that is correct you do not want to do it so you wind up with permanant injury take things one step at a time is a must
  5. there is no just thing as a good or badd martial art it depends on the person...most people do not use all the tkd techniques in fights any wys...such as knees and elbows...some of which are very similar to muay tai....it really depends on the person and who teaches you....i learned from 2 grand masters in tkd and both are undefeated in challenge matches...they are also grandmasters in hapkido....which shows that cross training is important....they also told me that most people only snap and pop their legs but in reality they should be snapping through not just poping....and he says that most do not utilize the punches and finger tip thrusts and so forth an tend to only kick high....it is also important to use alot of timing drills....so yes tkd if done right can very well be a good martial art for sd...but it depends how and what part of the art a person wishes to utilize...i sparred both my grand masters and i just got my-self wooped
  6. well currently i have a poster and a chart which i was given by a tkd and hapkido grand master....also many martial art books implies such as tao of jeet kune do...certain pressure points...you may be able to find some on the internet, but wether you look on a book or on the internet you should make sure the information is from reliable source because there are alot of people who claim such and such...and my friends mom as well as my mom does acupuncture...so i get a chance to see many of the points and what the are supposed to do...as for hsing many colleges such as mine are now teaching hsing and tai chi as well as other martial arts so you may be able to find informations at colleges...also there are many books such as "Hsing Yi Chuan Theory and Applications"...as well as others...again were ever you get your information make sure it is from reliable sources...you can also get the history on many martial arts off the internet which may give you an preview of what you can expect from certain martial arts... hsing is an internal martial art that has been growing in popularity in recent years...also there are many people who claim to know a certain martial are yet know very little thus they may be con-artists so you should always do research into a subject matter...you can find books at karate-mart.com as well as many other websites...
  7. i havent posted much gunfu related materialsmainly because i havent been training hard in my gung fu arts...as of now i have trained in some tai chi, preying mantis, hsing and some wing tsun as well as some wushu...i am currently now reworking my-self as a whole...i know many other martial arts but i have decided that i have been neglecting a good many of them...through my experience i have only been in 3 challenge bouts which i won...i believe that there is no true best fighter in the world because in order to be the best in the world you would have to fight every one in the world...and that is an impossible feat to accomplish...i am currently working and studying pressure points which i found can be quite effective...utilizing trapping texhniques and learning how the body works is equally important in all martial arts....gung fu is no exception to theis rule...learnin how the body works can be a useful tool in matches...learning how certain people react to certain movements and so fourth...i found that many gungfu's utilizes this in many ways...in taichi when some one tries to push you you can move their hands to the side exposing their kidneys and such for attack!...
  8. in gungfu it is important to have strong forearms....gung fu's such as wing chun have many work out for the forearms...fitness as a whole is important for any martial artists...strong forearms not only make a punch stronger but also strengthens the grip of the hands...
  9. also many people to not utilize the knees elbows and many other techniques that tkd contains...many of which are similar to mauy tai...and though people tend to mostly kick high they need to realize they can kick low too...so yes if learned correctly tkd can be effective tool....it mostly depends on the person...one my grand master's in tkd is undefeated...and has been challenged numerous times in places like orlando...i even got a chance to sparr him...couldnt get one hit in....i also sparred my other grand master...he's extremely good too...
  10. Some TKD masters and Grand master came to my tkd school to do a demonstration such as carrying huge caly pots with bike spokes through their neck and arms....they also did hapkido demonstrations...i got a chance to sparr both my grandmasters....lets just say i got my but wooped!
  11. i havent been on long but i hope you are enjoing my posts so far...if not than feel free for suggestions
  12. remember though you snap your leg to kick with the hip and to snap through!...many tkd practitioners do not do this...while it is ok to just snap with point fighting...both of my grand masters told me that many tkd practitioners do not realize that you are supposed to kick through...in a fight a person should also learn to use the knee's elbows and finger tip thrusts and so forth....if you only us the kicks you are not using the whole tool but only a small section!...remember though that point sparring is different...but still important because it help incorporate some timing and some experience
  13. Memories Remembrance of the mind of good and bad Fading in Fading out through all eternity So hard to remember life in the past but their there for you and me Stay close to my side and I will stay close to yours
  14. The style of martial art does not make a person a great fighter...those that go around bragging may one day find them-selves in a heap of trouble...it is the person that makes the fighter...a person may have powerful punches but most people will not use all their strength because it is not natural to hit another person!...a martial art is a way for person to learn and utilize...it is a tool but it depends on the individual if he or she wants to become better.
  15. i did a lot of research on different martial arts and discovered that tkd has many unused techniques....m,any people mostly the ones who like bragging...do not utilize tkd's elbows, knees or fingertip thrusts and so on...in fact there are techniques that deal with kneeing similar to mauy tai!....the problem i belive is that many people tend to only focus on 1 area of a martial art instead of the whole...
  16. i recieved an email letter saying i should make rules for this thread...so here goes... Please be respectful to other people...I or some one else will report any...dislikable behavior...it is ok to have an opinion just be polite about it....also there are many young people goin aroung online so keep your language as petite and clean as possible...feel free to write or discuss your emotions....it is ok...no harassing...also abide by karateforums.com's rules because...duh...its their site! any one who does not abide by karateforums.coms rules will be turned in to the appropriate officials of thi site...thank you and enjoy...
  17. many tkd grand masters do other martial arts such as hapkido...which shows that cross training with other martial arts is just as important
  18. i think this is a good thread...for people to relax and share their thought on writing...
  19. no prob....in my own theory i belive that neither part ar correct nor wrong...i belive that some of it is probably really old but not all of it...
  20. Do You Truly Know? Do you truly know a friend by their name? And what happens on every given day? Have you ever wondered if a friend is truly happy? Or just maybe. . .life is just too long to live another day. Do you truly know a friend by the expressions on their face? Or could there be another ace up the sleeve? Afraid within a day the friend decides to leave. Do you truly know a friend within the midnight hour? Could they be crying. . .praying. . . So their soul may be devoured? Do you know your friend? Do you lend your hearts desire? Do you know your friend? Do you know their fire and the reason that it burns? Or do you yearn to know more to give your life for them? For you may never know the day or the hour when the essence of their life comes to a final end. Copyright ©2002 J.W.
  21. its the ability to continue punching really fast and hard...wing chun incorporates this through close in fighting in which they can generate power without having to pull fist back as far...it is bruce lee's 1-inch punch...many other martial artschain punching is very similar...its not really a technique more like an ability...some people have been known to do 12-15 punches withing a second!... tkd incorporates chain kicking in which a person can do many kicks in a given time!
  22. learning to side step and ciculing is important in taekwondo...pracice timing drills with friends than practice them while sparring
  23. learn to create power without loosing momentum....chain pucnhicng important...power in close quarters are important
  24. expect the unexpected...if you are unsure about a technique just do it if it doesnt work try something else
  25. it is important to strengthen your legs especially the shins....kicking hard things work well...learn to take hits...there is a proper way to take a hit!
