The one strike one kill training is bogus......it does not work. Who can tell you in truth that they have done it and it works!! Stories and fables are everywhere but kill someone in a selfdefence situation and see who ends up in court unless your life was in immediate danger.

Training is supposed to be part of your lifenot All Of It. Cursing relatives for visiting you and *****ing about not training possibly because your sensei took time off is just uncaring. You can train at home it is called stretching or meditation or even visualization. Get a grip and remember what the holiday season is about....

Why do we strive so hard to do the splits?
ramcalgary replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in Health and Fitness
Why the splits it is what sets us apart from all the wanna bees. -
What is your opinion of Superfoot Wallace. I understand that as a seminar instructor and kicker he is phenominal. But I also believe that he was protected by the PKA to a degree. There were some contenders that should have been given fights with Superfoot that were not. I respect Wallace imensely but feel this is a great topic to discuss in a forum like this.

I would like to continue training into the later years of my life perhaps switching to a softer art as I get older. Have been training since I was 8 and I turn 40 this year so I guess saying that I will stay with the arts and my training is not in question.......

full contact TKD

Not saying that kicks do not hurt....why can you not punch to the head.....do you allow punches when training for self defence....? -
Tae Kwon Do does work as self defence. Any training gives you self confidence and that alone helps. TKDist Kick very fast and very hard....who ever told you a round kick to the temple only works for sport has never been smacked by a tkd stylist.....

How important is speed to you?
ramcalgary replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Speed amd timing are totally different. Speed is how fast you punch, timing is the moment when you punch. If someone has very powerful punches but is very slow he/she can still pop you if he/she has good timing and knows when to punch. George Foreman is a perfect example of this. He was a slow mover and puncher but look out if he ever timed his right cross. If you have great speed but always punch or kick when your opponent is guarding where you hit speed does very little for you. Also speed can kill if you use your speed to duck into an oncoming kick or punch the speed will only add force to the blow. -
Arthritis pain any suggestions!!!!!

How important is speed to you?
ramcalgary replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Speed is very important as is power and movement but I believe timing is the most important. Without proper timing you punch or kick at the wrong moment. Without timing you move the wrong way and BAM the next thing you know. . Its not how hard, how fast or where you punch, kick or move it is when! -
full contact TKD
ramcalgary replied to Prodigy-Child's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
In reply I have been to a "full contact tkd match" what I said was how can you call it full contact without punches to the face. It seems to me that a tkd stylist misses something if facial punches are not allowed when sparring. How do you compensate for this when it could happen in a real self defence situation. I am not being a jerk i am just asking a tkd stylist to explain.
