  1. The one strike one kill training is bogus......it does not work. Who can tell you in truth that they have done it and it works!! Stories and fables are everywhere but kill someone in a selfdefence situation and see who ends up in court unless your life was in immediate danger.
  2. welcome you will find this sight very informative....hope you dont live near the fires
  3. size does not mean power....in most athletics power comes from your hips.....check out videos of pete cunningham little guy major power......
  4. Welcome 39 here started when I was 8 still learning.......look forward to your coments
  5. Training is supposed to be part of your lifenot All Of It. Cursing relatives for visiting you and *****ing about not training possibly because your sensei took time off is just uncaring. You can train at home it is called stretching or meditation or even visualization. Get a grip and remember what the holiday season is about....
  6. Why the splits it is what sets us apart from all the wanna bees.
  7. What is your opinion of Superfoot Wallace. I understand that as a seminar instructor and kicker he is phenominal. But I also believe that he was protected by the PKA to a degree. There were some contenders that should have been given fights with Superfoot that were not. I respect Wallace imensely but feel this is a great topic to discuss in a forum like this.
  8. No way does a backfist deliver as much power as a hook or cross. The hook and the cross both had the added advantage of hip torque which the backfist does not.
  9. Just wondering what various opinions are... I think that the hook punch is tough to beat as is the rear leg roundhouse kick. Kicks without spins only...
  10. I would like to continue training into the later years of my life perhaps switching to a softer art as I get older. Have been training since I was 8 and I turn 40 this year so I guess saying that I will stay with the arts and my training is not in question.......
  11. A. Greater patience B. More tolerance of things that are new to me C. Learn not to drop my left hand when I spin
  12. If this is a legit techinque great.... only one other thing what the heck is the point ...

  14. Make sure that you look for the target...
  15. Not saying that kicks do not hurt....why can you not punch to the head.....do you allow punches when training for self defence....?
  16. Tae Kwon Do does work as self defence. Any training gives you self confidence and that alone helps. TKDist Kick very fast and very hard....who ever told you a round kick to the temple only works for sport has never been smacked by a tkd stylist.....
  17. The martial art best suited for you depends on your size and your build. Some arts that are considered sport are also good self defense. At your age the martial arts world awaits go to studios near you and watch. See what you like and ask questions.
  18. Hey mastertae Welcome to our view of the world. looking forward to your incites
  19. Thanks for the info Tommy .Met Sifu in 1980 at a tournament. Its touch to find info on some guys. The fights he had with Cliff Thomas are classics.
  20. Speed amd timing are totally different. Speed is how fast you punch, timing is the moment when you punch. If someone has very powerful punches but is very slow he/she can still pop you if he/she has good timing and knows when to punch. George Foreman is a perfect example of this. He was a slow mover and puncher but look out if he ever timed his right cross. If you have great speed but always punch or kick when your opponent is guarding where you hit speed does very little for you. Also speed can kill if you use your speed to duck into an oncoming kick or punch the speed will only add force to the blow.
  21. Arthritis pain any suggestions!!!!!
  22. Well done....... If Bruce had not died.....would he be bigger now or has the legend surpasssed the man!!
  23. Speed is very important as is power and movement but I believe timing is the most important. Without proper timing you punch or kick at the wrong moment. Without timing you move the wrong way and BAM the next thing you know. . Its not how hard, how fast or where you punch, kick or move it is when!
  24. In reply I have been to a "full contact tkd match" what I said was how can you call it full contact without punches to the face. It seems to me that a tkd stylist misses something if facial punches are not allowed when sparring. How do you compensate for this when it could happen in a real self defence situation. I am not being a jerk i am just asking a tkd stylist to explain.
