  1. This would be commonly known as the "Nip up." Plus may I just say that Martial Arts has a lot more to it than just acrobatics.
  2. The website I am reffering to is currently being examined by the two head senseis of my club. I am posting this to say that I willl give you the adress as soon as possible and to tell you it is the home site of none other than-you guessed it- the Red Triangle.
  3. Some people who have started Karate may do it for the sole reason of keeping fit-or losing weight- that is why you may see some people struggling. Other people though, seem to lack dediacation to the true spirit of Karate-Do. This lacking leads to laziness that is always going to stop them working. Personally, I find that if you enkoy Karate and like to perform well and dedicate yourself in a class, then those people who do this will be the fit ones. So, do you think a possible explanation of overweight people in Karate is due to lack of Dedication?
  4. I dont know what Luke means, that is a bit confusing actually. But back on topic, I don't think I have congratulated MatBla yet. So congratualtions on your yellow Belt grading. May I ask one uestion though, did you become a yellow belt off your first Grading? Triple Graded in other words, because if you did, you are really good. Keep it up!
  5. Name: Now that would be silly! Style: Shotokan Rank: 1st Kyu going for my Shodan on September 11th (<<< Unlucky!)
  6. Thank you. This is more like a dictionary definition gone into a little more detail about what Martial Art you chose to search for . If you wanted a summary, then this would be ideal.
  7. No I think last year their was some people who did a Kata called "Heian Sandan-Ichi" or something like that, that may be Goju-ryu.
  8. Hi, I was wondering if anyone on this website will be going to the Liverpool st Johns competition in Toxteth. I know it is only a little local competition but some people may have heard of it. I was just wondering though my sensei told me it was the 21st of some month. Is it this Month or August?
  9. I was with JIyn in his house whilst he posted that reply I told him that he-I am sorry to say- cant go to my Grading because it is a Black and Brown Belt course. Oh Yeah! He could wtch from the crowd! But that doesnt really suit him, it gets get on his nerves the way I am almost a Black Belt and he is only a Red Belt and he wouldnt be able to train.
  10. The first Martial Art I went to was a realy tough one and I was about 6 years old with al these big kids around me so I was really scared. BUT. Then when we were doing basic reverse ounches. I got asked if Id done it before and that I was a natural, that brightened me up.
  11. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are all really pissing me off!!! I only if you read my first post all I wanted to know is what you thought of your Black Belt Grading and to Verify that Shodan= 1st Dan Nidan=2nd Dan Sandan=3rd Dan Yondan=4th Dan and Godan=5th Dan. That is all! And Informer, what the fuc**** Hell are you on about? Did I say that I was a Shodan? No I never. I wanted to know the Alternative way of saying Sgodan which is 2nd dan. Plus I am 14 and have been training for three almost three years in Shotokan Karate.
  12. Reading through some of these I am actually laughing here. LOL
  13. You all seem to be labouring under the delusion that I have no idea what the Grading is like and that I am a complete Novice. Well, all I wanted to know is what you thought the grading was like and how tough it is.
  14. Some people dont realise that the word Kiai is actually Onomatopoeia and that you shouldnt actually say it you should just make your own version of it.
  15. I think the best way to go about a fight in the street is to have a neutral mind. The state of mind called Zanchin helps to prevent the mind from irrational thoughts. You should react to things appropriately.
  16. Hi, I have questions on what the Black Belt Gradings are like for Shotokan. I am going for my Black Belt in September and would like to know a little more about it. First I would like to learn the proper terms for each Dan Grading. Is 2nd dan called your "Shodan" grading and is third dan called your "Needan" Grading or your "Sandan" grading? I think I know that your 4th Dan grading is "Yondan". What should I expect in my Black Belt Grading? Is it Long? How tough is it?
  17. Just ask your sensei or someone experienced what type of stretches you should do on certain areas.
  18. Jiyn, you really need patience. Just use the time you have to learn more.
  19. I totally agree with you.You are right.
  20. Thank you, but that is one of the other things that is making it so hard to deal with. He thinks I'm good. Plus it is the National Youth champs and their will be like 1000 contestants probably.
  21. It is funny learning all about your kiais. P.A.L. I have never been knocked ut by a kiai. I would shudder to think how loud that would be!
  22. I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. I just thought this would be a laugh if I started it. What does your Kiai sound like? orry I cant stop laughing! Well, mine differs from time to time(usually depending on how exhausted am)Most of the time it goes: "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!" or "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!" but when I am really tired it goes:"EEeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhh!" Dont ask me why I started this thread. Im just in a funny mood
  23. I reccomend Shotokan Karate-but this may be becausethats all I reccomend But, Shotokan Karate is a brilliant self defense art and you will meet lots of people and have fun in no time.
