  1. Next week: Disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
  2. Try doing something thats NOT korean for a change.
  3. What do you call a standard mat? We use disinfectant mat cleaner with a mop on wrestling mats, and the mats don't really smell... Maybe a tiny bit, but certainly not foul.
  4. If I did that I'd be embarassed to tell people what art I did.
  5. Wow.... Mats are important if there's going to be judo/grappling going on there. Super squishy ones like the kind you tumble on are bad though. Its easy to snag (and break) toes on them.
  6. http://facethesky.com/fight.mpg You don't need to know how to grapple so you can flying armbar someone in a fight. If either of the first two people in this clip knew how to grapple they would've known how to attain good position on their opponent and keep it. Even if you're Mr. Bloodsport blackbelt karateka, if you get knocked over/bumped over/tripped/taken down intentionally and you end up with someone on top of you, you have to know how to escape at least.
  7. Most of their free time is spent flying, but sometime they stab.
  8. Ah. I'm not a rashguard person myself. I guess I just don't have delicate skin. Except for my dragging knee when I shoot.
  9. migrant - One that moves from one region(art) to another by chance, instinct, or plan. Other people have just been doing martial arts for a friggin long time. They don't do 5 arts consecutively, they've done 5 arts in a lifetime.
  10. Some people are 75 years old, and some are just...migrant.
  11. What's the big deal? Go for a month, then decide from there. If they want to make you sign up for a 6 month package deal or something just forget them.
  12. Grappling isn't just about submitting someone. Knowing the best way to end up sitting on someones chest during a fight is a good thing.
  13. So... are you going to do both at once, or are you thinking about switching? It might be hard to accept the doctrines of two different arts. After a little bit of bjj training I felt stupid doing tkd, so I stopped. I thought I was going to cross train and I ended up just dropping tkd alltogether.
  14. How do you know he didn't do it from age 1-9, then take a couple year break?
  15. Watch the movie Ben Hurr a lot. At least the beginning.
  16. The Gracie Way by Kid Peligro http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1931229287/qid%3D1071542080/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/102-0343268-2988124 Just so you guys can mix it up.
  17. Sounds like a cookie-cutter karate/taekwondo/whatever dojo.
  18. I was really disappointed when the "medival knight vs. samurai" thread got closed.
  19. "My name is Erle Montaigue and I hold the degree of Master given to me directly from China. I believe that I am the only Westerner to have received such an honor directly from the country of origin of the martial arts." What did China say when he/she/it gave it to you? Ever notice the weirdos dim mak oriented stuff bring out? Kinda like when you go to a gun show and start asking people why I too should fear the government.
  20. Haha... the ancient chinese master does a great job punching the girl in the first zip file.
  21. *yawn*....'97? Maynard? Someone named Maynard from 6 years ago what? I've heard of tool... if some professional singer/entertainer person like that choked me during one of their concerts I'd be dreaming of how much I was going to sue them for while I was passed out.
  22. What if the person is one of those gumby no connective tissue types?
  23. They didn't have it at the local movie mart. I was disappointed.
