  1. Looks like a moneymaker not a martial mart.
  2. Just out of curiosity what kind of shoes did you wind up getting?
  3. Please remember that to show respect for other martial arts than just your own. Calling what someone else does "krappy" is inappropriate behaviour.
  4. Welcome to the forum.
  5. And I bet he doesn't even realize it. Most don't. I think at one point I went through that.
  6. Okay now you are getting into a "personal" style versus a "school type" style. Is that the key to JKD?
  7. Remember that the purpose of this forum is to discuss the merits, and compare differences/similarities in the arts not to just crow about how a particular art is the greatest. Please keep that in mind when you post.
  8. It does take so much more time to stretch out now than it did even two years ago. It seems the amount of effort needed to maintain flexibility increases exponentially rather than mathmatically after 40.
  9. Practicing the round house kick. Holding onto a chair for balance practice the kick in slow motion concentrating on technique. . Kicking into a hand held target will help build accuracy. Kicking into a kick shield or heavy bag will help build power.
  10. If you are into the art for the sake of the art and what you can get out of it and for "yourself" I think that was a really good decision. Sometimes those who get caught up in the chase for the next belt cant under stand why someone would rather wait to test than stay on a skill and really work with what you should be learning for the rank. Does that make sense? And those who get into the belt chase don't alway realize that they have.
  11. Congratulations to kchenault. It takes a lot of time, effort and dedication to get to the finals. A job well done by both participants.
  12. I can do the splits after a warm up. And I didn't actually achieve full splits the first time until after 40. It comes a little bit at a time and the last few inches take the longest. And after you get there you have to work at it to maintain the ability.
  13. See the links in http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=5436

  15. Back work is conspicuously absent.
  16. Yes. It might be time to go get it checked out.
  17. That perhaps is one of the best choices possible.
  18. Tornadoes are very nasty things. Hope the clean up goes well Tombstone.
  19. Someone either does not sweat or does not work hard enough in class.
  20. That was very well done. I think for many it would best be read in pieces.
  21. I am moving this to general chat. I am not sure why it was here in the first place.
  22. Just give it time and you will get used to the kids. Just when you are standing next to one in the line up make sure you look before you turn. They sometimes turn the wrong way, (like anyone can), or they have shorter legs than we do and can be easy to step on.
  23. This is a topic that comes up from time to time. The main thread on this is: http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=6256&highlight=injuries
