MADDOG......welcome to karateforums. your question is by no means a bother. very nice of you to open up to us and give us some of your very interesting background. i am one of the few members here that could most likely have that same tag applied to me. i am 46 years young, so it is nice to see another mature member join us in our discussions. as for your question, i first would recommend that you visit each school and see what they have to offer. talk with the instructor/instructors. express the same questions you have ask here. see what kind of students attend and talk to other mature students there, if any. from what i can tell from your post, good recommendations would be tae chi, wing chun, and/or akido. but the most important thing is that you find something you are comfortable with and develope a good repore with the instructor of whichever style you choose. again welcome to karate forums and i look forward to your insights and views on the topics that we and you offer.................

there is also the A.T.A., american taekwondo assiociation.....they mostly run a closed system that is very commercialized (but most schools are these days) and have no open tourniments....they run a point/stop type of tourney.....they have an intense and very educational instructor's program.......... what little information i know about them..........

sorry but you may have misunderstood; i base my reply on the history of other come backs such as mohammad ali and charles barkely who both had major injuries after there come backs (and i hear that charels may come back too)............if he wants to come back i'm glad because i will have him on my fantasy basketball team any time of course and good luck to him and his team.
