  1. If you want to argue this from a Christian standpoint... everything was put here by God. Sin was put here by God. Does that justify its use? Nope.
  2. Ugh! You've got to be kidding me! No wonder my research wasn't going anywhere! Until now, I thought you guys were talking about another type of "Vitamin S"... an acid (and I was pretty confused what that had to do with gaining weight) called salicylate, which used used in toothpase and acne medication...
  3. Yeah, but nobody was being specific, so I was just wondering. I don't really know about the martial arts scene in NK or SK.
  4. JEM, you know, you shouldn't take things so personally... and most of all, don't get frusturated so easily just because someone has an opposing opinion. Yeah, sometimes people are ignorant and stubborn (I'm not saying you are, 47MM ), but that's when you step out of the argument and simply say, "I'm done" without adding little sarcastic remarks.
  5. ..I'm still wondering why the word "Jap" is considered to be offensive. I've never seen it censored on television (I don't have cable, either). If it were a racial slur as bad as some of the ones you pointed out, JEM, then I'm pretty sure they'd "bleep it". No? Yeah, PC.
  6. I meant the ones you see on Television that perform those feats. Good coordination, strength and conditioning in general.
  7. I'm Swiss.. and a wanna be cowboy. If you called me a cowboy, I'd probably be flattered. There's a team named after Yankees, so, no, that's not insulting either. Red neck, that has a history to it and is considered deragatory by most people.. but, that's not really a nationality or race. Again, I'm asking, what's the history behind the word "Jap"? Why's it insulting?
  8. Why is it offensive, though? I mean, it's pretty much just an abbreviation. That would be like... calling a German... a germ
  9. Why integrate Ki at all? As far as Budo goes, I'm only vaguely fimiliar with that.
  10. Damnit, stop treating "Karate" as a single martial art.
  11. Okay.. I'm just curious.. How exactly do you use martial arts as an evangelism tool? I mean, I can see the correlation between building homes for homeless people and teaching people about The Bible, but I don't really see how martial arts could be used in the same way. I'm Christian as well, again, I'm not instigating, I'm just wondering.
  12. Ah, looks like the link really is dead. Hm, last time I checked it, it was fine.
  13. uh............ do all of you have QuickTime?
  14. Yes, once you believe you've built up your muscles to the point where you can sustain a hand-stand for longer periods of time, then it becomes more of a matter of technique in order to mantain balance and all that. Do that simply by doing what Madd suggested. Oh yeah, this is probably going to be a "duh" for you, but it wasn't for me when I first started doing this stuff. Make SURE you're in a safe enveironment, get rid of stuff you can fall on, it would be great if the ground were padded at first. When I first tried doing hand-stand push ups I conntected my hip very nicely with the corner of my desk.
  15. Start eating healthy and lift weights. Get a gym membership (make sure they don't only have machines) and just start lifting. If I were you I'd stay away from steroids for the time being. Yeah, they're not that bad for you, but they're still bad for you.
  16. Maybe it's because of that Jennifer Lopez movie? I forgot what it's called..
  17. Dry air is roughly 79% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, and 1% argon. - Wikipedia.org I still counted for about 99% Agreed.
  18. Give me a break. Air minus two thirds nitrogen, then. Most people believe air to be synonymous with oxygen anyway. I'll check the article out if I can find it on the site. Thank you.
  19. I find that hard to believe. Got any sources? You would think they would figure out very quickly that that wasn't true after they got an injury and drew blood. But hey, they weren't too far off, that's what RBC's do.
  20. Quick question, how old are you? Because it might just be a "stage".. my cousin was extremely skinny and 'frail' until he was around 18, then his body changed pretty drastically and now he benches 250. Without steroids or supplements, mind you He's just a big guy now (not fat.. but big).
  21. This is a horribly stereotypical thread... your entire argument is based on assumptions. You assume that Karate is a single martial art. It's not. There's thousainds of styles which are as unique as there are many. That's like comparing the United States to the other half of the universe. Then you assume that all traditional martial artists, like Joe pointed out, are lazy, weak, unmotivated slobs. What makes you think that? Do you know how hard the Shaolin Monks train? Now there's a feat of strength, not to mention amazing coordination. Now, to answer your question, yes. By your definition of what a martial athlete it and what a martial artist is, the martial athelete will definitely have a significant advantage.
  22. Excuse him Welcome to the forums (everyone always posts a smiley face..)
