  1. If you have a swimming pool near by, swimming is an excellent way of increasing over all fitness in just about every area you can think of.
  2. lol, I honestly have no idea... my friend just told me that they worked extremely well. And, all I know, is that it has something to do with Yoga, it's an exercise, and is either called polaties, palaties or pilates :/ ...sorry for being so vague.
  3. what are they and how do they work?
  4. The United States is going completely overboard. When I first moved to the United States, I was absolutely shocked when I found out that I would get a three day suspension or expulsion for DEFENDING myself in a fight.. I was even shocked that suspension was a punishment for getting into a fight. Now, banishing school violence completely and utterly may seem to be a wonderful solution to all of our problems, but, obviously, it doesn't seem to be working. While I was living in Switzerland, I would get into fights and feuds all the time, I would maybe come him with a bloody nose and a welts, but never anything serious. I was never harshly punished, it was just a talk with the teacher, and that was it. I find it funny how in Switzerland the murder count is nothing compared to that in the US, but the Swiss are absolutely not as strict as they are when it comes to violence. In Switzerland, the saying "boys will be boys" is actually followed, and Switzerland's (and Europe in general) approach to it seems to give better results. They see violence as an acceptable part of life, it's always going to be a part of life. And, somehow, this seems to have a positive impact on people... I don't know, I really don't understand it. I've just observed it. In Switzerland I would have to worry about getting punched a couple of times and come home with a few bruises.. but I never had to worry about being shot, stabbed and murdered.
  5. What kind of handcuffs techniques? Defense against them? Attacking with them? Just techniques on how to handcuff someone? I can't suggest anything more than a Police training manual. ...if those even exist.
  6. To each his own, but as far as anger goes in sparring matches, I believe many martial artists tend to confuse anger with aggression during sparring.
  7. I don't know, clench your fist to hold it down and run to the nearest bag in sight... If there's no rose garden, no tea to sip, what do you do?
  8. I don't see how releasing your anger by punching an Everlast punching bag is in any way harmful to anything or anyone other than the bag. People let out their anger in different ways, I, personally, would prefer punching a bag rather than walking through a rose garden. That just does not work for me. When your anger gets out of control and you start to harm others or yourself (for instance a massochist) then it starts to become a problem. Therefore, I do agree with Tal completely. Some people's minds are like volcanoes, if they do not deal with their anger and let it out (in a way that puts no harm to others) but just swallow it, they will explode. That's what happend with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. This is how the term "going postal" originated. I can go on. I've punched walls, trees, and bags. But I've never sent anyone or myself to the hospital as a result of my anger getting out of control. Heh.. here we go, "sometimes violence is the answer"
  9. I'm 6' and weigh around 170 lbs, last time I checked. I'm very athletic and physically capable.
  10. If you can control your anger, then it's very useful.
  11. beat the holy **** ******* *********** *** (you get the idea) out of the first guy that you can get ahold of, with some luck, the rest will become quite disguisted with what you did to the first guy, and they'll back off.
  12. Two days ago, I got very upset and hit a wooden board with my right fist. Thankfully, I was too angry to pay any attention to the pain and now it doesn't hurt so much anymore.
  13. The more you bruise your shins, the less likely it is that you will bruise them the next time. I used to skatebaord (I was at it for 5 years) and as a result, I would injure my shins All.The.Time and now, after five years, you could hit me there with a baseball bat and I wouldn't flinch or get a bruise... yes, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point. So, yes, eventually it will become hard again.
  14. Alright, lately I've been wondering what's more effective. Or, what does what. Say, person A is doing pushups. And A does 20x2 (with no longer but a 5 min pause in between). Then there's person B, which does the same exercise, except B does 30 pushups straight and then stops. So, which is better to do or what's the difference? A gets more pushups in but takes a break in the middle. B has 10 less pushups but takes no breaks. That was just a general question that can be related to any exercise.
  15. You don't only have to eat meat to get protein. Grains work just as well, from eating a consistent diet of whole-wheat grains you'll get plenty of protein, atleast for now. Pushups are an awesome exercise, but they tend to bore me and after a while they get a little too easy. Always remember that you're trying to increase in strength, so try to see if you can steadily increase in reps/weight. Also, as far as diet goes, make sure you're getting plenty of GOOD carbohydrates, meaning, not the kinds you get from a Snickers bar, instead, the kind you'll get from fruit, etc.
  16. I made a little "weight lifting progress" sheet with Microsoft Works, where I just basically fill in the date, the reps I did, the exercise and how many lbs. This sheet is brilliant, now I can actually see my progress on a sheet of paper.
  17. What I'm trying to accomplish is to become stronger and look stronger. And, I've already gone past what I was trying to accomplish a few months ago, but now I'm sort of addicted and I actually enjoy doing it. Wow, who would have ever thought that I would actually ENJOY the tedious pain of exercise?
  18. Don't lean back too much when you kick? Make sure you have stable balance Before you initiate the kick.
  19. "Being a good looking teenager and a top student puts pressure on you alot." Haha, from reading that, I don't think you have much of a confidence problem. And why do you ignore the girls? Girls can be just as fun to hang around with as guys (not all the time though, sometimes you gotta take a break and hang around your own kind). Are you one of those people that thinks girls are evil, etc? Girls aren't evil, just don't eat any apples they give you, you know what happened to Adam.
  20. If you punch someone in the face, and don't make them stumble to the ground, it's always nice to shuffle in and elbow them in the sternum/solar plexus. If someone grab you with one hand from behind or something, step back and elbow them somewhere in the chest (it all hurts). As far as knees go, I hate using them, they work nicely if your opponent is bent over, other than that, I don't like using my knees. Knees and elbows can, basically, be used whenever you're very close to your oppponent and don't have much space for a kick or straight punch. American Kenpo makes excellent use of knees and elbows.
  21. The best smell in the world is the perfume of your girl ...Well, that one's tied with Papa John's Pizza.
  22. I have a website that shows you how to increase your breast size, want it? How about 50 different ways to becoming a millionaire? Miracle diet pills, anyone?
  23. "Skip rope for three minutes. (A round in boxing is three minutes long.) Take a minute off, and do as many crunches as you can. Skip rope for another three minutes. During the next minute between rounds, do as many push-ups as you can. Back to skipping for three minutes Do crunches for another minute. Repeat." I lost the URL from what site I got that off of, but I got it by searching for "jump rope exercises" on google.com
  24. an excellent work out for your chest is dumbbell fly's.
  25. I just don't want to leave the people I love and care about behind. If my mother died, I would be crushed. If I died, my mother would be crushed... I'm afraid of doing something like to anyone.
