  1. oh, and dont confuse drunken forms with that wushu crap they do thats called 'drunken' completely different things there.
  2. i sparred a guy once who did some kind of drunken form- and as much as i dislike styles such as kung fu- this guy knew how to fight (unlike most of that people in the kung fu class) and he applied it quite well.
  3. its not just my opinion, its the way of things. i included my disclaimer of 'in general' so theres always the exception- but look at the facts, thats what i do.
  4. not enough...
  5. i have a better idea- dont do deadlifts or goodmornings at all. i promise youll be sorry sooner or later. @%# mens health and all those people, they are BAD FOR YOU!!! you want legs? legpresses! more weight hoisted on that than any other leg exercise, probably any other exercise period. but dont jump in too quick to lifting, and be mindful of your knees (i always wear knee wraps). leg curls for your hamstrings, and running (not on a tredmill), is what builds legs the smart way. squats too, but legpress is better. (cant wait to catch the grief over all of what i just said- but trust me its all true)
  6. sounds like its time to take some time off- completely. maybe check with a doctor as well.
  7. doesnt anyone know what ironically means? anyway, yea, id say join a boxing gym over tkd and just kick a heavy bag or something.
  8. me, i say drunk people are still responsible for their actions. pick a fight with me ima @#$ you up. hard striking, grappling, whatever.. aikido or tae kwon do or whatever isnt gonna do it for me. thats just me though.
  9. if you want to get good at kicking, get a bag and kick it. keep in mind the kicks bruce lee did in movies were not the kicks he would do in real life- though they look better on film.
  10. wow, i would have beat his * bloody. twice. and by the way, if someone tried to fire you for throwing a punch after being hit (thus in self defense) itd likely be illegal to do so (wrongful termination) call the better business bureau or something if they try to pull that.
  11. people call it the ultimate style (for standup/striking anyway) because it is so very brutal and so very effective and practical. in general (thats my disclaimer) MT guys can most likely kick the other guys' *, and theres no two ways about it. one cant find harder hitting blows than in muay thai (proper spelling by the way), and as good as a fancy kung fu guy may be, the simple buff-* powerful thai boxer can probably demolish him
  12. im gonna throw in a little advice here- wear knee wraps when doing heavy pressing leg movements, especially squats. the help is tremendous. if you feel anything, that is anything at all in your knees, stop immediately. also, dont do too much too fast. but anyway, yea- knee wraps.
  13. never was a fan of weighted vests. other exercises better results better for you.
  14. holy holy crap, thats a lot of weight for that height. honestly, a specialist trainer richard simmons type would be a good idea... help you cut the calories and all; but if they put you on all protein atkins bull * fire them. and please, please- start jogging. a lot. and bike riding. and tae bo. and whatever else is cardio for you. dont mean to criticize or anything, dont get me wrong- but that kind of weight is unhealty... gotta lose it.
  15. ...uh, never even heard of it. google it.
  16. personally, i like muay thai because of how hard it is. i want the pure, raw, *-kicking power. anything else i train in has to be the same way- bjj wrestling etc... i want that hardcore effective demolish your oponent stuff, none of that soft art idealistic stuff.
  17. ill groin kick and throat punch and break bones as much as i can if its down to him or me. then ill get the hell out of there (assuming i couldnt before hand, which is why i did the above stuff).
  18. i was responding to him about biceps because thats what he was asking about, and i talked about the pain he was experiencing. as for the rest- barbell curls do not restrict the motion at all (assuming youre standing), and with PROPER FORM you will not only lift more total weight than with dumbells (thus causing your muscles to grow bigger, faster) it will not allow the stronger muscle to compensate for the weaker one... WITH PROPER FORM. sure dumbells have all sorts of benifits, but if you want the size, barbells are the way to go.
  19. san shou isnt really watered down muay thai, that site isnt entirely accurate. basic diff is san shou has throws, no elbows... MT has elbows, no throws.

  21. i saw on the learning channel when this prison fight broke out- looked like disorganized and more brutal bjj fights... mounting and wilding out with punches until someone else threw the guy off or the guy on the bottom got thrown off- most all ground fighting one on one until a guy came over to help a buddy.
  22. no no no... you want to gain size, get a barbell, do 4-5 sets of 6-8 reps, as heavy as you can go WITHOUT losing good form. barbells get size, dont let people tell you otherwise. 6-8 reps is optimum for getting size, dont let people tell you otherwise.
  23. hooray for bretty, standing up against the masses. anyone ever try using ankle weights while kicking a bag?
  24. youre old enough to not worry about stunting your growth. if your bones are hurting, it could be one of several things. if youve just started, your bones could simply not be used to it- similar to getting shinsplints. there could be other problems a doctor would have to tell you about, but i bet its that. for now id do less sets and see if that helps, if not drop the weight a little and just do it untill your bones are ready. as for the weight, 55lbs is not a whole lot to curl, though its not bad at your weight. far as wolverine goes, if youre 190lbs and muscular, 35lbs is a warmup weight to be curling, at the same size and build (i guess) i go from 80-100 and im not THAT buff (yet..). are you talking about dumbells in each hand at 35lbs a piece, or a barbell of 35lbs?
