  1. yeah yeah, mcdojos are crap, i agree with the lot of you except "But to they know a large selection of moves?" you don't need a large selection of moves to be an effective martial art. my style boasts over 4,000 empty handed techniques alone, not to mention the 108 weapons, but that dosen't make my style intrinsically better than, say, boxing, which has, at it's advantage, i might add, much fewer moves. if said philosophy was true, i don't think anyone would be able to match my style. just my two cents.
  2. well, y'know, i guess i can see where someone would think jackie chan wouldn't be able to do anything in a confrontation, regardless of whether or not i agree... i'm just a bit shocked that he thinks that jet li could? why's jet li top tier if chan's so low?
  3. ...so... why is jet li on the best list?
  4. well hey, congratulations to you.
  5. oh right, i'm supposed to be headin' out to england sometime this year too, probably when aefi bird heads out to my neck of the woods. that said, i was supposed to head over there last year... this could very well be post poned 'til i'm 40.... i will make, though... i will...
  6. hey, give me your address and i'll happily give you the change on the bottom of my car. that's 11 cents easy... who knows, i might have a quarter down there!... but i'd probably keep it, not gonna' lie. at any rate, have fun getting pummeled with american history while you're in the east coast. by the time your done you'll never want to hear about the stamp act or benjamin franklin again
  7. ice tea is tea, only cold. and red bull? you can stomach that stuff? i got a free can once and couldn't even finish it. cough syrup-y, if i can remember right.
  8. oh geez, i didn't even realise it was in here! i second that, y'all.
  9. the champ makes a good point: remember to always kick the bag with the joint, as adversed to against it. no sense injuring that knee. so, um, yeah, hook kicks and the like... i wouldn't use those.
  10. ^that's what i do^. warm up of basic techniques, and then the above in interval training. i suppose i should probably deviate a bit, but y'know... if it aint broke...
  11. stay away from centruy, btw, their swords are awful.
  12. i've been getting into a black keys funk. like if jack white and the drummer from jet formed a band.
  13. ^exactly^. break it as if you're just doing a normal technique. it's meant to demonstrate proper body mechanics and structure. you should already have that if you're testing.
  14. be careful with google, there's a lot of crap. i'd check out paul chen, my self.
  15. i'd make two trips. it's kind of hard to explain in text, but when running up hill, you're going to want to almost be marching up it... only marching fast. "paw" at the ground, y'know? you'll work a different set of leg muscles than you will when you're going down. you might want to run with a runner in the beginning, because proper form is important.
  16. a kip up, or sometimes shortened to kip.
  17. i think they all pretty much said it. there's a saying in video editing: "garbage in = garbage out". no matter how good an editor you are, you can't make a great movie out of crap footage. likewise, if you don't put anything into your training, you wont get anything out of it, and your return isn't so high as your investment. it's all perspective, really.
  18. whew... someone takes care of her skin... i used to have razor burn troubles, but i found that if i used the trimmer on my electric razor first, i didn't get that 200 grit sand paper feeling you mentioned that i did before... then again, i didn't have a trouble with the mach 3 turbo, either... man, they sent me one in the mail, it's a miracle razor! but evidently not for you, so, uh... if you've already tried the trimming before the shaving thing, ignore this.
  19. ...it's been awhile since biology, but i think it's called the mental foramen. on your chin, there are two holes called... i think... the mental foramen? right in your mandible. and nerves run through those wholes connecting to your brain, or tubes that run blood, or something to that end. anywho, when you hit those, you cut off the brains blood supply, and that's what causes the knock. and about the crown thing, yeah, that was a bare knuckle boxing strategy from the 30's; try to break their knuckles on your forehead. i always thought that was kinda' cool
  20. hey, while we're on this, lets try to name everyone who's ever lived, too!
  21. that was the second one... if i remember right, i had to take that one in two sittings... couldn't stand it otherwise...
  22. i hate them both, the stands break like nothing.
  23. um, wow. though i've never heard anything quite so extreme, i have heard a lot of bad things. y'know, if you really dug the movie and find it in a bargain bin, maybe...
  24. i got into the martial arts for more or less the same reasons as myst, and am at my current school because it had the best teachers around.
