  1. out of curiosity, ms. queen fan, were you among the bunch that got infuriated over electric six's new "radio gaga" video? i hear a bunch of you brit queen fans got really upset...
  2. really? when i train capoeira, we might do a senzala exercise or "play senzala". maybe i'm hearing him wrong or something, i'm still pretty new to it, but i thought it was kind of a game or an exercise, kind of like someone saying "hey lets do ground work"... y'know, a different aspect to it.
  3. oh my god, new dr. who!?! dr. who rocks! you gotta' love that scarf perhaps you could find a phone booth that allows you to travel through time and space, and meet the bully again when you're rich and successful?
  4. well, although i'm sure this is more or less resolved by now, your first mistake is going after those "tickle points". i know what you're talking about, and it's not gonna' stop a bully... he'll probably just call you gay and hit you. such is life. if i were you, i'd just wait it out, y'know, if uni is coming up in a week. quite frankly, you'll find that even if he dosen't mature, everyone else will, and he'll probably be shunned as the jack* who picks on the kid good enough to not beat the crap out of him. once uni starts, people don't take so kindly to bullying.
  5. you think so? because i can do a back flip, but a back hand spring is a bit beyond me right now. a back flip requires a lot less strength and flexibility in the back. the back flip is more of a leap of faith.
  6. no, it dosen't, just some leg strength to spring up into the air, and some core strength to lean forward. it's as big a timing issue as anything.
  7. um, to tell you the truth, i really don't use my neck... at all, really, just as a reference point from when to stop rolling back. if you want to do it with no hands, put your hands on your legs and push them up and out as you're springing up. that's how i do it, anyway.
  8. always cool to see another rammstein fan i've personally really been getting into elliot smith lately.
  9. actually, if anything, i'd think being, um... top heavy would help, since it's extra weight to pull you forward when you get to your feet. not much, but it's more than i have. don't bailing, though, i've never seen anyone get it on the first try. or the second. or the third. i don't know if you ever jumped on the bed on your back by pumping your legs as a wee one (i recently discovered that i seem to be the only child in the world who did this), but it's the same motion. just be patient.
  10. wood. the carpet's not so bad, it's removing the glass shards embedded in the handle that sucks. i ended up just buying a new pair.
  11. i've not only nailed myself about with the nunchaku a few times, but i've broken two over head lamps and put a hole in the wall. my parents don't let me train indoors anymore i've hurt myself with every weapon i've trained with, including the sword, for the first time a few weeks ago. an ultra stupid mistake of stabbing myself in the hand while resheathing. let that be a lesson not to let your technique get sloppy, folks.
  12. man, i love that movie! my friends and i made a bunch of "vote for pedro" shirts and sold them... made a nice little profit that deleted scene at the kick ball diamond was pure genious!
  13. my advice to you? don't worry about accurate facts. at least, don't make it a top priority. the chances of you being able to shoot out random facts on the essay question on the a.p. test are slim, so all you need is a basic idea, which you should be able to find in your book. learning to look that up will be beneficial later on in the semester, as well as other classes... and later on in life, i can only assume. instead, work on the essay structure. the key to a good essay is the hook/line/sinker introduction and the firm conclusion (do NOT end on a question!) take 5-10 minutes before starting to outline the body and organize your main points, it'll really help. don't elaborate on settings and things, just stick to cold, hard facts (in complete sentences). just don't worry so much on the little stuff, you'll have some leeway.
  14. actually no, not even in twirling (personally, i'd stay away from the flashy twirly stuff in both arts, but that's another story). as a drummer and a ssang jyel bang wielder, i can tell you that there's no correlation between the two, and i don't see a way that one would help out the other.
  15. heihachi dosen't have a weapon, he just uses his fists. you can buy different gauntlettes for him, though in the end his ultimate weapon is nothing at all. his spoof weapon are gauntlettes with little golden models of his head on them.
  16. i just stay out of my room i don't make my bed, it just gets frumpy the next time i sleep in it anyway. i don't have much trash in my room and leaving laundry on the floor makes it easier to find later some people call it being a slob. i call it being efficient
  17. shaun of the dead, hands down. i've seen that movie a dozen times and i still laugh every time shaun pushes that first zombie down in the back lawn
  18. y'know, as far as specific uses go, i think the only one i've only ever heard is to mask certain, um... more illegal scents. my dad always got suspicious whenever i burned it...
  19. "At the same time JKD will also remain a concept based art, as it was JKD & Lee which advocated that one must practice fighting in ALL Ranges." about the only thing in that entire set that i agree with, really.
  20. i'm doing omulu, myself, i'm not sure how that compares. i've had all of 4 hours under my belt so far though, so i'll hold judgement until later
  21. that's been my experience. the guys i train with are wicked fast and super accurate. i wish i didn't have to choose between capoeira and hwa rang do, they'd compliment eachother very nicely. is makulele like kali or more coreographed?
  22. second class today, i learned what a lousy singer i am um, what's makulele (sp?)? a bunch of girls wanted to do it but we ran out of time.
  23. i hear ya; those guys are nuts! and i tell ya, the more i look at the monkey, the more i love the crap out of him. he really is the coolest monkey in the world!
  24. it's in the "where does your nic name come from" thread... i think...
