  1. that's my opinion of them. my neighbor and i used to listen to them in his room. i remember when kurt cobain died, he built a hug shrine to him that took up his entire wall. i think he kept it up until he ended up moving. i think that was the first encounter i ever had with a person who viewed kurt cobain as the reincarnation of jesus.
  2. to be honest, i don't think i've seen that one. i'll check it out
  3. i still don't understandd how that warrants a religion revolving around the front man
  4. i like jackie chan, he's fun to watch, but he has a knack for awful movies. shanghai knights was fun to watch, but it was far from a good movie. i don't think i've ever seen fann wong in anything other than that movie; i didn't even know who she was.
  5. the only jackie chan movie i've genuinly like was the legend of the drunken master.
  6. yeah, i listen to them, and i think their music is good, but i also think they're a little over rated. and i don't understand the kurt kobain worshipers, like the ones who will argue with you for 20 minutes as to why a greatest hits album in its self goes against everything nirvana stands for. and i think it's very immoral to publish his journal for the masses to see. i know i'd be more than a little angry if i had a journal and it was published.
  7. i enjoy it, but i've mostly just found myself using the weapons master mode, i was fairly unimpressed with arcade mode. and even with weapons master mode, if i'm only mitsurugi. the only time i've ever felt the need to switch characters is when i'm playing against friends.
  8. perhaps you're reading the wrong books? the shining, pet semetary, the dead zone, misery, carrie; all were wonderful books. a bad stephen king book is a mediocre book by normal standards. he's very good at provoking emotions and keeping me interested. i really like him, personally.
  9. "Historically, Battousai, Islam, Christianity, and Judaisim do share the same god. as each built apon which was last. " she doesn't stop there. by all major monotheistic religions, she means ALL major monothesistic religions. "There is a difference between respecting someones beliefes and tolerating someones blatent misunderstanding of science or the natural world itself." point taken. though no one here has given me enough evidence to either believe or disbelieve the big bang theorey. as goes for god.
  10. i just heard ok computer. not as good as kid a, but it's not bad. circa the bends is coming for me at the library.
  11. even so, i still hold that he doesn't hold a candle to vonnegut or orwell. and i'm a huge fan of stephen king, i think he's a head of tolkien in my book too. so go out and rent the shining. good movie, even though it has nothing to do with the book
  12. just my 2 cents... does it really matter if the entire world doesn't share your beliefs? i personally am a lutheran, and believe in god, and that's where i stand. my best friend is an aetheist. that's where he stands. i have another friend who's jewish. another who's muslim. my ex girlfriend was buddhist. another friend agnostic. my older sister believes that all major monotheistic religions worship the same god. we've all shared our beliefs, and we've all given opinions, but i don't think we've ever tried to disprove one anothers religion. i may just be mis-interpreting your statements, but it really seems kind of immoral to attempt to prove someones beliefs wrong, especially with not hard evidence. isn't the point of diversity to be able to tolerate/celebrate differences? i don't know, that's what came to mind. oh, and, uh...stopping time would be a pretty cool power to have. that would be really handy on those timed tests
  13. yeah. i was at work and found another book he wrote for his kids or grandkids or something (i work in a library); i forgot almost everything about it, but it had something to do with christmas . it was very endearing.
  14. is it? i've only heard amnesiac and kid a. i'll have to check it out
  15. in short? i have absolutely no idea. but there's nothing wrong with going from place to place and asking questions. you'll probably learn more than most of us could tell you, and you could find the one that fits you best.
  16. i imagine because someone thought it looked cool
  17. well, my older sister went off to college, and it turns out 1 in 3 girls who goes there gets raped, or some other unsettling ratio like that, so she asked me to teach her some stuff. you know, escaping holds, breaking bones, pressure stuff, all sorts of fun stuff. it may be because she has a private teacher, but she caught on a heck of a lot faster than i did. i think the point i was trying to make was that technique will over come flexibility and strength, or... no wait, maybe it was... ah blast it, i lost it. women can do whatever they want... ... yeah!
  18. ...i hope that wasn't directed towards me...
  19. "If thay are already off balance. The amount of counters start building when they are off balance just drop them with a throw or strike. why risk a move where you have your feet off the ground , or give them the chance to gain thier balance. And if one of those watching is a friend of thiers they will blast you as you land. see above comments. " understood. but i think it's all a matter of preferance. i personally don't use flying kicks often, but when i do it's more or less because i'm in the mood to have a bit of fun and by off balance, i meant tumbling backwards, not teetering. sorry if i didn't make that clear, or i did an i misread what you said. y'know, just to finish 'em off.
  20. wow, that's really really interesting. would you mind pming me more similarities or telling me where to find them? i'd like to learn more
  21. well, we've always been told that flying kicks are used in the off chance that someone is stumbling off balance. one you've taken their balance, their amount of available counters are slimmed down, and a flying kick always looks pretty in said situation. and intimidating for anyone else watching
  22. well, as sano alluded to, if i bruce lee wanted to fight me in an alley, whether he could do the stuff in his movies or not, the indimidation factor would be huge (and not just because he's been dead for 30 years). just the mental images alone from his movies might be enough to make me hesitate.
  23. really? there actually was a hajime saito? how true-to-life is rurouni kenshin?
