  1. Hello, Please keep GMail invites on this thread: http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=15238&start=40 Thanks.
  2. Hello. Welcome to the third annual KarateForums.com Awards. These awards are intended to recognize just a few of the outstanding (and humorous) contributions made by KarateForums.com users. These awards will take into consideration all forum activity between October 19, 2003 and October 18, 2004. For instance, users must be nominated based on their activity in this period and threads/articles nominated must have been started/published in this same period of time. You will make your nominations by sending a PM to http://www.karateforums.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=2715 - you do not have to nominate for every category. You can nominate for as many or as few as you would like - please go for as many as you feel comfortable with. From the most popular nominations, the actual nominees for each award will be chosen and by using the poll system available on these forums, you will be able to vote for the winners! So, without further ado, here are this years categories: 1. Member of the Year This award is intended to acknowledge the person who you view as most valuable to the community as a whole. Current staff members (Sempais, Senseis and Administrator) are not able to be nominated in this award. 2. Community Spirit Award New this year. This award should go to a person whom you feel posts interesting and insightful comments that exemplify the spirit of KarateForums.com - kind, helpful and encouraging. This award is open to anyone, regardless of their skill level. Regular members and staff members (except for the Administrator) can win this award. 3. Staff Member of the Year Basically, the same as Member of the Year, except that this award is for current staff members (Sempais and Senseis, not Administrator) only, if you are unsure of who is on staff, please visit http://www.karateforums.com/staff.php for a complete listing. 4. Funniest Member of the Year Humor is an important aspect of the forums and this award recognizes the member who has brought a smile to your face many times. This person should have a good clean sense of humor and can be either a staff member (except for Administrator) or regular member. 5. Thread of the Year This award distinguishes your favorite thread from all the others. This thread may have helped you out, taught you something new or just had a great discussion in it. It should be martial arts related and has to have been created between the dates listed above. 6. Article of the Year This award distinguishes your favorite article that was published in the KarateForums.com Articles section in the past year (it must have been published in the past year). Whether the article enlightened or inspired you, this is the place to recognize it. Visit our articles section at http://www.karateforums.com/viewforum.php?f=44 for a complete list of articles. 7. Funniest Thread of the Year This final award distinguishes this thread as the funniest one of the year. This thread should have made you laugh till you were blue in the face. This thread must exhibit good, clean humor. There are just two nomination rules: 1. Only one user/thread/article can be nominated for EACH award. Only one choice per award, in other words. 2. You can not nominate yourself, a thread that you have started or an article that you wrote for any of the awards. So, that's all there is to it. Please nominate. We need as many nominations as possible. Once again, you can nominate by sending a PM to http://www.karateforums.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=2715 - the due date for nominations will be sometime on November 2. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to PM me or reply to this thread. Please do not put your nominations in this thread. Thank you.
  3. Be sure to provide links. I went in there and found this: http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=15253 So, I am going to close this one. Thanks.
  4. Well, we are getting very close to nominations, so I am going to close this. Thank you for the suggestions.
  5. Whew! We're back up. Sorry about that, folks. Took much longer than expected. Because of the size of the site and the databases (like 1 GB all together, I believe), we ran into some unexpected (obviously) trouble. But, it is all settled now. Let me know if you see anything wrong. Thank you for your patience.
  6. Hello, We expect to have a bit of expected downtime on October 19, in the afternoon. Hopefully it won't be more than a few hours, but it could be longer. Thank you for your patience.
  7. Hello, I thought'd I'd bring this back up for everyone as we're not too far away from getting started. Thanks.
  8. Hello, Yes, yes, ladies and gents. It is that time of year again. We are but a few weeks away from voting in KarateForums.com Awards 2004. Between then and now, we'll also be holding a nominations period. But, before we get going, I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions, mainly for new categories, but anything is fine. Last year, we had 5 categories: 1. Member of the Year 2. Staff Member of the Year 3. Funniest Member of the Year 4. Thread of the Year 5. Article of the Year 6. Funniest Thread of the Year We'll be using those again, but are open to new ones. Please make any suggestion that you may have, if it is for a category or even something else - I want to hear it. Thanks.
  9. Hello, We have just made a small, but notable addition/clarification (something we've already been enforcing) to our User Guidelines. It is in bold. Thank you for reading.
  10. Hello, KarateForums.com recognizes one member every month as the Member of the Month for their positive contributions to this community. The October 2004 selection is... Kicks. Congratulations!
  11. The addition of many members certainly did help, but every user plays a role and they all add up. Without the continued participation of old faces, the addition of new faces wouldn't have put us this high up. Thanks.
