  1. While attempting to master the one punch knockout is great, if that is all a student is focusing on, they are severely limiting their ability.
  2. I noticed that the Korean Arts I took, TKD and Hapkido, had the same bowing, though Hapkido including kneeling bowing, where we never did that in TKD. However, when I went to Karate we did the hand over fist bow instead of the hands by our sides. I never had a real preference one way or the other. The only one I did not care for was prison, where the ready position was bend over. I don't recall what they were in Tai Chi or Krav Maga, I took those for a short time in college. *shurgs*
  3. After 10 years together the Pittsburgh Penguins and head coach Mike Sullivan have broken up. The Penguins won two Stanley Cups under Sullivan, going back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, but the team had struggled recently, missing the playoffs the last three seasons. In late March the Penguins were in last place, I can't remember ever seeing that before, them being in last place so late in the season. There will be a lot of interest in Sullivan who will likely get a job offer sooner than later. Penguins said their search for a new head coach is top priority and will start immediately.
  4. It goes down June 7 at UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey. Who you got and why?
  5. Three of the four games in the books for today. Washington and Carolina both went up 3-1 in their series by getting victories, meanwhile the Blues have stormed back against the Jets and tied the series 2-2, another blowout win today, 5-1. The Kings and Oilers are in the first period right now, LA trying to go up 3-1 and currently has a lead in the game. I will edit later and put in the winner. To the anger of Lightning fans, Matthew Tkachuck will not be suspended for his late hit on Saturday. Argument for the decision was that it was not a head shot, thus the ejection was enough punishment. The ejection had no impact on the result, since there were only 5 minutes left in the game, and it was clear the Lightning were going to win. Tampa put in an empty net goal on the delayed penalty to go up 5-1. Anyway, Chucky will be in the lineup for game four on Monday. The other game on Monday is Colorado/Dallas, the series is back in Texas tied at two. @sensei8 and I have to wait until Tuesday before our teams are back at it. They got the travel day, and game 5 is scheduled for 9:30 eastern on ESPN Tuesday night. Edit: The Oilers beat LA Kings 4-3 in overtime and have tied the series 2-2.
  6. There will be no first round sweeps this year. Senators beat the Leafs to stay alive, trail the series 3-1. Avalanche and Golden Knights both win and those series are tied 2-2. I thought that Minnesota was going to win when they got that overtime power play. Good job by Vegas bouncing back and getting a big win on the road. Lighting beat the Panthers and Florida leads the series 2-1, but Matthew Tkachuck was up to his old tricks of playing dirty. He got ejected for a late hit and could face suspension. This comes one game after the Panthers were complaining about late hits by the Lightning. Brandon Hagel was suspended for his late hit in game two, many arguing that Matty T getting suspended a game is fair play. Tom Wilson was up to his old tricks again too, but he was able to avoid a suspension for his behavior in game three against Montreal. He will have to pay a 5k dollar fine. Four more games on Sunday, all of them are game four in their respective series. Jets/Blues. Kings/Oilers, Capitals/Canadians, Hurricanes/Devils Mood: The gloves are off!
  7. Minnesota has gotten healthy at the right time; they are getting excellent goaltending and are clicking on the power play. They have done a good job of making the most of their chances. Vegas needs Stone and/or Eichel to start making some plays. They have been shut down so far in this series. I think one of them gets a goal in game four. Big game on Saturday at 4pm eastern. Minnesota can go up 3-1 and take a big lead, or Vegas can win, tie it at 2-2, and have the momentum going back home for game 5 on Tuesday. Lots to play for. Three games on Friday and three teams had a chance to go up 3-0 in their series. None of them did. Canadians, Oilers, and Devils all win. Series are starting to tighten up. The deeper the series goes the more intense the games become. It's getting interesting. Mood:
  8. We have reached complete absurdity in the NFL Draft.
  9. Leafs get the OT victory, can sweep the Senators if they win the next game. Panthers win both games in Tampa, take a 2-0 series lead back home. Wild win again, 5-2 over Vegas in a game where Minnesota dominated. Wild have not trailed in the last two games, outscoring the Knights 10-4. Blues are about to get back into their series, beat the Jets 7-2 in a blowout, Jets now lead the series 2-1. Games on Saturday - Capitals/Canadians Kings/Oilers Hurricanes/Devils Mood: LET'S GO WILD!!!
  10. Cam Ward was the first pick in the draft as the Titans needed a QB. The second pick was Travis Hunter, who the Jaguars traded up to select, dropping Cleveland to the 5th pick where they selected DT Mason Graham.
  11. Just make sure it's not the yellow Sharpie; the color is so light you won't even see the mark.
  12. Don't forget about game three. It is Thursday at 9pm Eastern. The rare one day off between changing cities. Usually there are two. Big game three for both teams, Vegas wins and they regain home ice advantage, if Minnesota wins they are up 2-1 with the momentum at home for game four on Saturday. I don't know the actual numbers, but it feels like in a 1-1 series, the team that wins game three usually wins the series. Mood: Cautiously optimistic Three games on the schedule for Wednesday. Capitals and Kings both winners, both up 2-0 in their series, Stars come back and beat the Avalanche and have a 2-1 series lead.
  13. Panthers defeated the Lighting 6-2 and have a 1-0 lead in that series, Leafs were an OT winner against the Senators, and they take the two games at home, now headed to Ottawa. In the late game the Wild bounce back with a good win against the Golden Knights. Wild were up 4-0 and win it 5-2, two goals for Kirill Kaprizov tonight, now 13 career postseason goals for him in his young career. Minnesota ties the series 1-1 with game three in Saint Paul on Thursday. It is rare to see the Wild get postseason wins; they missed the playoffs last year and have not won a series since 2015. I don't want to get overly optimistic, it is only one game, but they looked good tonight. Vegas got some heavy pressure late in the second period and again in the third, but the Wild defense held strong. Nice win. The final game of the night ended at 1:41 AM eastern time. Mood: Too excited to sleep...LET'S GO WILD
  14. Hurricanes beat the Devils and now lead the series 2-0 as they go to New Jersey. Two games live right now, both 2-1 scores. Panthers up on the Lighting and Leafs up on the Senators. I will post when they go final. Wild and Golden Knights start at 11pm eastern and is unlikely to start on time due to broadcasting the earlier games, so it will be a late night of playoff hockey! We could have live hockey past 2am on the east coast tonight.
  15. Another unfortunate story involving a famous athlete. Fromer NFL player Shannon Sharpe has been accused of a very serious crime against his ex-girlfriend. Sharpe has denied all charges claiming, "this is a shakedown" and appears to be willing to settle the case for 10 million dollars.
  16. Yes, for whatever reason I couldn't get the link posted. I expect it was user error as usual.
  17. A Delta plane in Orlando, Florida caught fire today. Thankfully nobody was injured. Be careful out there!
  18. Pretty much what I was thinking. It depends on the school and the individual. When I was a purple belt, our assistant instructor told a story about how he was learning a new technique and kept getting one of the basics wrong, and the head sensei, a seventh degree, called them "beginners." I remember thinking wow, I can get to black belt in a few years and finally I will finally reach beginner stage!
  19. Never Give Up by Donald J. Trump
  20. It was an exciting game one. I picked Vegas to win this series and think they will do it in four or five games, I hope the Wild can remain competitive like they did in game one.
  21. Four games on Monday, two game one's and two game twos. Game 1 went to Washington in OT. Caps got off to a 2-0 lead, Canadians came back to tie it, and Caps won in OT 3-2. The Kings were also game 1 winners, 6-5 scoring the GW with under a minute left. LA was up 4-0 and 5-2 before the Oilers came back to tie, but they come up short and LA has a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 in Dallas went for the Stars, another OT game 4-3 Dallas wins it and ties that series. The Jets win against the Blues 2-1 and are up 2-0 in the series as they got to St. Louis. The old saying is that you are not in trouble in an NHL playoff series until you lose at home. If the Blues win game 3, they can turn this series around in a hurry, though a loss would put them in serious trouble. Four more games coming up on Tuesday, game 1 of the Panthers/Lightning and game 2 of Devils/Hurricanes, Senators/Leafs, and Wild/Golden Knights. It's that time of year
  22. I prefer the Sharpie, but maybe it is time to check out those BIC markers.
  23. Winners on Sunday were the Leafs, Hurricanes, and Golden Knights. All teams are up 1-0 in the series. A little bit of a strange ending to the Minnesota Vegas game, with 0.1 seconds left in the game it looked like Vegas had scored and empty net goal, then it looked like it did not count, then it did count and there was still 0.1 left on the clock, but Minnesota had already gone into the locker room so instead of playing it final one tenth of a second, the game was over. Vegas won 4-2. Four games on Monday: game one of the Canadians/Capitals and Oilers/King game two of Blues/Jets and Avalanche/Stars. All games can be seen on ESPN or ESPN 2 depending on the game. Two more head coaches fired. Detroit has moved on from Derek Lalonde and Philly has fired John Tortorella after two seasons. Hit the Ice!!
  24. The first day of the 2025 playoffs are in the books. Jets beat the Blues 5-3 but don't stress yet @aurik the Blues played tough and were ahead for more of the game than they were behind. Plus, the last two seasons the Jets won the first game then lost the next four. Long way to go, we are just getting started. The Avalanche beat the Stars 5-1 and are the first road team to get a playoff win this season. Colorado looked good and never trailed in the game. They got up 2-0, Dallas scored, then three more goals for the Avs including an empty netter. These teams meet for game two on Monday, same for Blues/Jets. Three more game one's to be played on Easter Sunday, Devils at Hurricanes 3pm EST on ESPN, Senators at Leafs 7pm EST on ESPN 2, and Wild at Knights 10pm EST on ESPN. In other news the NY Rangers fired head coach Peter Laviolette this afternoon. The Rangers won the President's Trophy last year and had high expectations going into the year, many considered them to be a serious Cup contender. Instead they had an embarrassing season where they did not make the playoffs. Cost the coach his job.
  25. My preseason pick was Dallas over Carolina, and since that is still possible, I will stick with it. Though if I were to update my picks, I would change it. Here are my guesses as to who will win the opening round. East: Washington, Carolina, Toronto, Tampa Bay West: Winnipeg, Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles They are worth the same what you paid for it, or less, which is nothing. I feel most confident about Vegas winning, and least confident about Toronto, because of their history of messing things up. The Leafs are really good though and played well late in the season. I think they will beat the Senators, though I did almost pick Ottawa. I also picked LA to beat Edmonton. Imo LA has been to most underrated team in the league this year. They have a tough defense and goaltending and can stifle their opponents. It is not the most exciting type of hockey, but it works. There are several series in this round that are very interesting. The battle of Florida between the Panthers and Lightning, and who will win between the struggling Hurricanes and equally struggling Devils? Will the Blues late season surge continue against a Jets team that has yet to prove itself in the playoffs? Don't overlook Dallas vs Colorado, two division rivals and both are excellent teams. Just a few hours until the puck drops for the playoffs. LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
