The problem with the OT seems to be the field goals. So how about this. No kicking game in overtime. The team that wins the toss, if they receive, possess the ball at their own 25-yard line. Then it is first team to score. No field goals, no kickoffs, no punts. You can only win by a TD or a safety. If neither team scores after 10 minutes the game ends in a tie.

I'm more interested in this card than anything the UFC has offered in a while. I hope Harrison beats Pena. -
Interesting, I never thought about it in any of those ways.

Oilers tie the series, winning 3-0 in Dallas as it shifts to Edmonton. Skinner has been all over the map. In this three wins this post season he has pitched three shutouts, however in the four losses he has given up 20 goals. While the timeline to return for Calvin Pickard is unknown, the play by Skinner could be what determines the winner in this series. Mood: Late in the second period, when the Stars were down 3-0, ESPN showed the crowd and one of the commentators said, "it doesn't look like any of them are having fun right now." I am glad he said that, because it was exactly how I was feeling. -

Florida goes into Carolina and dominates the first two games, winning tonight 5-0 and a combined score of 10-2. Panthers are looking unstoppable right now. In their last four wins they have outscored Toronto and Carolina 22-4. -

We are in a ten-day stretch where all ten days in a row read the same way forwards and backwards. Also known as a palindrome. 5/20/25 5/21/25 5/22/25 (this one is my favorite) 5/23/25 5/24/25 5/25/25 (this is my second favorite) 5/26/25 5/27/25 5/28/25 5/29/25

Wow, what a comeback by the Stars. The Oilers were up 3-1 and looked like they had control of the game, but then Dallas puts up five unanswered in the third to win it 6-3. Chants of "USA" came down from the hometown fans as Dallas makes a big comeback and takes a 1-0 lead in the series. What a turn around. Sing it with me..... "Start spreading the message, God Bless Texas!!!!" -
After six pages of discussion, I think it is clear that the proposal is full of risks. Injury, cost, retaining students, ect, and furthermore is very limited in what it teaches the students. The risks are much higher than the reward. I encourage the OP to reconsider this proposal, if that has not been done already.

NHL continues to discuss adding more teams. Houston and Atlanta are the frontrunners for the next expansion markets. Despite many critics pointing to Atlanta already having two prior teams, Flames and Thrashers, the league does not consider that a deal breaker. The NHL wants to expand to larger markets, and Houston and Atlanta are both that. They also want the American dollars, and the ability to expand their fan base. By adding Houston and Atlanta they can get their high price tag for a franchise, approximately a billion dollars, tap into untapped hockey markets, and bring new fans to the sport. This is why the league is not considering expanding to Quebec City anytime soon. Too small a market and the city is already loaded with hockey fans. Bettman has also stated that adding new teams would not change the current playoff format. -
NFL teams voted on the Tush Push, and the vote came up 22-10 in favor of banning it, however 24 votes were needed, so it did not pass. The Lions proposal of changing the playoff seedings based on record, and not division placing (for example the Vikings being 14-3 going on the road to play the 10-7 Rams because the Rams won the division and the Vikings were a wild card) did not pass. New rule to the kickoff. Last season teams were not allowed to onside kick unless it was the 4th quarter, and they were behind. This year teams will be allowed to onside kick anytime during the game, as long as they are behind. The NFL has also voted to support NFL players competing in Flag Football during the 2028 Olympics. American players would have to play for the USA but NFL players with ties to foreign countries could play for that country's team. There is only one player per team allowed and with only 10 spots available for Olympic Flag Football (much smaller roster than the NFL) getting enough players does not appear to be any kind of an issue. The 2028 Olympics will be in Los Angeles.

self-defense distance…
KarateKen replied to Spartacus Maximus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Keep in mind too that situations where someone is attacking or being threatening can be unpredictable. They can quickly escalate into total chaos. It is possible that the person is drunk and/or on drugs, meaning they can't be reasoned with and would have a very high pain tolerance. In those situations, you might have to break and arm, choke someone out, or do something else that makes them physically incapable of continuing. Also, the person who attacks might realize they are losing the fight and pull out a weapon. Or one of their friend's see's that the fight is taking place, and jumps in. Now you are outnumbered. Furthermore, legally it gets even more complicated because you can't know for sure how a jury will see the situation. If you injure or kill someone in self-defense, you could very well be tried for a crime and even if you know you are 100% in the right, the jury might not and could decide that you should face some legal consequences for the injury/death of the other person. I'd encourage anyone to avoid such situations if possible. Unless you or someone else in immediate and serious danger, get out of there as soon as you can, because even if you are defending, and win the fight, you can still lose legally. If you win legally, as stated above, it could become very traumatic. I would guess that it is something you carry for the rest of your life. -

Panthers dominate the Leafs 6-1, win game seven on the road. Panthers outscored the Leafs 12-2 in games five and seven in Toronto. Bad showing for the Leafs, who have not been to the Cup finals since 1967, the longest drought of any team in the NHL. Back then there were only eight teams in the league. This also ends any chance of an all Candian final, as Florida will play Carolina in the East. No announcements of the schedule yet for that series, but the game one between the Oilers and Stars will be Wednesday. And then there were four.....
