Former Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela has passed away. He was 63. I'm sure you will hear more about this during game one of the World Series.

The Jets are putting the win in Winnipeg right now, after tonight's victory against the Blues they are now 6-0, and remain the lone unbeaten NHL team this season. Minn (not win) esota Wild beat the Panthers 5-1 and they are off to a decent start. Other winners were Washington, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Detroit, NY Rangers, Nashville (first win), Colorado, Vancouver, Columbus...sheesh I think every team in the league played tonight. Vegas just scored a PP goal while I am watching this, and lead the Kings 2-0 on ESPN. -
I don't know if this is still going on, but there was a time when the Chicago White Sox were being sponsored by 7-11 and part of the promotion was starting home games at 7:11 pm.

41 points for the Ravens tonight who are now 5-2, winning five in a row. They are tied in first with Pittsburgh. Tampa drops to 4-3. Bad sequence late in the half for Tampa as Mayfield throws a pick in the end zone and the Ravens go down and kick a FG before halftime. Tampa is tied in first with Atlanta. Cardinals also defeated the Chargers 17-15 in the AZ. Or the Zona. Whichever you prefer.

Dodgers finished off the Mets to win the NL and now face another NY team, the Yankees, in the World Series. It's New York vs Los Angeles. It's the Yankees and the Dodgers. It's east coast vs west coast. It's old school, but not even close because it is present day. And I don't care.

Adams did play for the Jets on Sunday night, but it didn't help much, the Steelers won 37-15. Another disappointing night for gang green. The Jets play the Patriots on Sunday, the worst team in the AFC, so they should get a win there, but they better turn it around and fast now that they are 2-5. With the Vikings loss and the Chiefs winning against the 49ers, KC is now 6-0 and the only unbeaten team left. The Chiefs play in Vegas next week against the struggling Raiders who of course are without Adams and could be without Crosby by Sunday.

Lions win a close game in Minnesota, kicking a field goal with 15 seconds left to win it 31-29 and moving into first place. Browns lost and Watson was injured, apparently for the season with a torn ACL, at least that was the early report.

The Karate Kid - 40 Years
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
A new Karate Kid movie called "Legends" has been announced and will come out in May of 2025. The poster and first Trailor have been released. It will be the aftermath of Cobra Kai, which means the final five episodes of CK will have to be before then. I did that math on my own! -
I used to work in a nightclub and believe me, I saw a lot of customers who were wrong! We had to ban many of them.

Busy day in the NHL. Speaking of Vegas, they started 3-0 and now have lost three in a row, though they did get a point in Florida on Saturday losing in overtime. Other winners were the Rangers, Islanders, Capitals, Senators, Sabers (yes Buffalo), Stars, Blues, Wild, Red Wings, Kraken, Utah, and the still undefeated Winnipeg Jets now 4-0 won in a blowout and are the last remaining unbeaten team in the league. On the other side is the Nashville Predators who are stinking up the joint at 0-5, the only team in the league without point in the standings. What is going on in Music City Hockey? That is a little cuckoo for cocoa puffs right there. -

Memories of first belt test
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Eight hours is bonkers to me. Even the TKD black belt tests in our school were maybe two hours or less. My green belt test was in Karate was four hours, active the entire time, so I don't want to think about going twice as long. -
Memories of first belt test
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
In our Karate classes 2-2.5-hour tests are the norm. My first test was at least two hours. Our green belt test was four hours. Much different that my experiences in other styles, where the test was probably an hour or less. I much prefer the shorter tests. -

OK. I have noticed that the icons at the bottom right (not sure what they are called) that give feedback for likes and respect, and what not, are now not showing for me. -
Laws surrounding Banned or Prohibited Weapons
KarateKen replied to Nidan Melbourne's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Now see, I once got in trouble at the courthouse for having a kubaton on my keychain. I went through security and the officer said that it was not allowed. They did not arrest me but I had to give up the weapon, then was given it back when I left. However, he did say that concealing that weapon would be illegal. So what is legal to carry in one state could be illegal as soon as you cross the border to the next state, which might be just a few minutes from where you live. It varies. It also can vary from county to county in that state, and then again to the city. Being legal in the state might not make it legal in the next county. -
Not at all. I see customers that are wrong all the time in every type of business. People are wrong constantly.

Bugs? Errors? Things That Are Missing?
KarateKen replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
It does not go through, so no I did not see it posted. When I go back to the topic, it is saved in the reply space. Kind of like when you write an email but don't send it and it goes into your draft folder. There is a chance that I did not submit the reply for whatever reason...got distracted or whatever...so user error is also a possibility. This is my post #711 I am now in the mood for a Slurpee. Mmmmmmm, Slurpee. -
I think I hurt my back with bad form (not badly, not injured, but something did not feel right) same with my left knee when I was doing lunges. We now have a new instructor for the training who just got certified. *shrugs*

We all know that Watson is a loser, and anyone reasonable knew it was bat crap crazy for the Browns to do what they did, though I don't know of anyone who thought it would be this bad. I agree that the ownership is being stubborn, either due to the sunk cost fallacy or the delusion of thinking Watson gives them the best chance to win. He doesn't. I'd love to see the coach bench him anyway, even at the risk of getting canned. Stefanski is likely fired at the end of the season based on how it is going, so he could at least put his team in the best position to win while he still has a job. I do not think that will happen, and I understand why he doesn't, but would love to see it. Browns are getting exactly what they signed up for with Watson. Possibly the dumbest decision by a major sports team in the history of the world. As for the Raiders, there are rumors that Crosby is on the trading block, possibly going to Detroit so the Lions can make up the loss of Hutch. With Adams gone, Crosby is the only player the Raiders have right now who possess high trade value. Might be time to trade him, get some draft picks, and go full rebuild. Raiders won't be competitive this year, so with a new coach and new QB it would make sense to do it. By the way, the Patriots and Jaguars play in London this weekend, just in case anyone wants to wake up early on Sunday and watch the two worst teams in the AFC.

Looks like McCarthy is definitely on the hot seat. Expect him and Doug Peterson to be added to the list of fired head coaches this season unless some major turnaround happens. Same thing with Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, who will be the fall man for the terrible decision by the Browns to trade for Watson. Watson has been a disaster, and that trade is already a giant L for Cleveland, but depending on how it plays out it could get even worse and be among the worst trades in sports history.
