  1. You joking right????Tyson would get killed in K-1!NO NO NO,Tyson isn't currently an active fighter, how the heck is he gonna fight any of these guys? His first "not gonna happen match" is Jerome Le Banner.Tyson would be killed! Secondly, White Warlock has only posted one reply to this thread and owned it. the battousai is correct. punches ARE more reliable. you retain your balance, they are faster, have faster recovery time, etc. tyson would definitely be a force in k-1. Whomever he fight will have make excellent use of the push kick to keep him off of them, and remember to try and roundhouse his front leg as he plants on it to throw a punch. If they can't do that, he will eat them for lunch.
  2. agreed.
  3. the kyoto arc saga was the best part of the kenshin series, imo.
  4. is there a hollywood video where you live? If so, check them out. The ones in my city have about 50 anime titles for rent - tenchi, x, vampire hunter d, bubble gum crisis, metropolis, final fantasy, ys, princess mononoke and several other titles. They are in a separate anime section. in the kids section, they have dbz, db, transformers, etc.
  5. I've got spriggan. I have purchased trigun, but haven't received it yet. I've got the fatal fury trilogy too. dude... ebay is my best friend. ranma is 122 episodes and a crapload of dvds - I got it for 70 bucks. kenshin is 96 episodes and I got it for like 75 bucks. shaman king is 15 or so dvds and I got it for 30... what I REALLY want is the dragon warrior series. It aired in the early 90's and was done by akira toriyama, so the art and animation was similar to DBZ. it was named after the dragon warrior/dragon quest video game series, but wasn't quite based around it. I can't find it for sale anywhere. I don't even know if it's available for sale.
  6. oh, I've got the orphen series too - I really like orphhen. I'm listening to the theme song right now and it reminded me.
  7. trigun is pretty good. it's starts off really silly, but if you make it past the first few episodes, it's great. I don't care for DBGT either. I've got dbz in both japanese and english though. At one point in time, I think I owned the biggest dbz webring on the net. ranma is excellent. I've got the entire series of gasaraki, gundam wing, shaman king, helsing and king of bandit jing also, but haven't checked them all out yet. I've seen several of the king of bandit jing and several of the gundam wing and they are both decent. Has anyone seen eden's bowy?
  8. It can take more time than you have, especially in an unexpected situation. you're walking to your car, I blindside you. you've already been hit, now in addition to dealing with pain, sudden adrenaline rush, etc. you are trying to fight me AND clear your mind at the same time? Also, depending on how long you've been training, it may not happen rather quickly at all. you have to be able to clear your mind under pressure. learning how to do that goes back to my suggestion...sparring.
  9. I've got quite a bit, but I'll name some of the complete sets I've got that I like rurouni kenshin ranma 1/2 wolf's rain cowboy bebop flcl ushio and tora dbz yu yu hakusho record of lodoss war .hack//sign I can go on endlessly. I've never checked out inital D but I hear alot about it - it may be next on my list. I've never seen ebichu - is it worth checking out?
  10. rickson is by far the most skilled gracie. I've even asked royce which he thought was the most skilled, and he said rickson. the 400-1 has gotta be fake, but that's no different than the legends of these undefeated CMA masters...
  11. what do you all watch besides kenshin?
  12. I have all of those also. I won't say anything about them, yet!
  13. spoken by someone who knows nothing about the art...
  14. Why on earth do you want to drop to 140? how tall are you? how old? no problems, I'm just curious.
  15. yeah, plyos are explosive - I was basing the endurance thing off of MJ's post, where he was mentioning high rep work. I didn't know yates was still actively around. Is he competing?
  16. notice he asked how to deal with it in a self defense situation. in such a situation, you won't have time to do pushups, meditate or any of the other things mentioned here. As I said, it's an experience thing. full contact sparring will help.
  17. there is nothing wrong with cross training - I train in judo, bjj and muay thai currently. cross training may help you when you open your school, as you will have other experiences to draw from. I am an assistant coach in my thai boxing class. How can I tell my students how to defend a double leg, for example, If I've never faced one? There are several considertaions you should take before cross training, however.
  18. as soon as I saw the name kamiya, I knew you were an anime fan. (I have that whole series on dvd, by the way) anime tends to inspire me to want to train. I've been doing it for so many years that going to class is habit, but when I am slacking at home, popping in anime kicks my solo training up a notch. try it.
  19. 1. that doesn't matter... they pay PLENTY of attention to boxing and sport fighting. The contributions there alone have been huge. Also, depth can be overrated...not only that, but may have been added later for no "real" reason. many cma styles back in the day only had one or two forms. the catalogging of forms from various styles have lead to what we have today - some styles with in excess of 30 forms. 2. there are as many "experts" in asia as there are here. people in the west tend to romanticize alot of stuff. 3. the biggest influence on cma, most people agree, is shaolin. it's speculated that after alexander the great invaded india, some of his soldiers were impress buy various yogi, as they had awesome control over they're minds and bodies. they studied and shared with them, the result being vahjramushti - the art credited with influencing shaolin.
  20. there's controvery around the health of those bulls though... still, at the very least, even if it was a sick bull, he still killed it. Other than stories and legends though, I don't know how mas fought - I never saw him. because of this, I'll go with ken.
  21. put a length of rope through the center of a weight plate, have the other end of a rope attached to a strap which you may tie around your forehead. bend over, allowing the weight to hang. raise your neck, then lower it to the starting position. repeat. p.s you don't need a different kind of strength... you need endurance. muscular endurance is what you are attempting to increase.
