Ok, mortal kombat is a piece of crap, vf4 is alright, and soul calibur 2 looks friggan awesome. I love the first one so much. A really great fighting game though is Guilty gear x2, thats an amazing game. Marvel vs capcom 2 and capcom vs snk 2 are also really good. Dead or alive 3 is ok, but doa 2 is much better. Tekken 4 is fairly good. The best system for fighting games is the dreamcast, followed by the ps2, then the ps1, then gc. And last comes the xbox, a system who cant make any good fighters except the ones that come multiplatform.

board breaking

when i mean practice timing on a bag i mean going along with its movements while it swings and trying to combos and such. Well ive never multiple holders, all the board breking ive seen has been single attacks. I guess you do make some good points but i still think that it is more for show. -
Does bjj have any punches, kicks, knees, elbows or anything like that? Im thinking of taking it but i wont take an art unless it has striking. I used to take judo before muay thai and i didnt like it because there was no striking and it never seemed effiective in any of the fights i was in. But now my muay thai class is closing and im looking for something else and 2 different places have bjj. so does it?

Robert. Yea, i had a fealing that saying that would come back to haunt me. But even so, striking a punching bag will help you a lot more because it lets you practice timing, power and doing multiple attacks and stringing them into combos. Hitting a board cannot let you do this because you only throw a single attack. I also wouldnt say that a hitting a board would be better for accuracy than a bag because i can still look at a part of a bag and aim to hit it. -

No martial art is better than a gun, but id rather be in court for assulting a man in a fight than for killing him. -
I have a sword and I dont take any sword arts. And you know what, it may seem really cool to have at first, but after a while you realize that its just a waste of money because you can carry it around or anything. If you really want one though, tell your parents that you will pay for it, and tell them that it is to help practice your aikido techniques. Maybe also you could bribe them, telling them you will do stuff around the house more, that will seal the deal.

Board breaking is usless in my opinion. Hitting a punching bag is a better idea to improve your technique. Board breaking is also usless because the way they hold the boards makes them weak in the middle and easy to punch through. And even though this has already been said on this forum, il say it again "boards dont hit back". -
Which would you reccomend to take Shorin Ryu or Tae Kwon Do? Which would have better self defence skills? And is shorin ryu better than most karate styles?
-
Which type is closer to kung fu? Does shorin ryu have any stuff like eye gouging, groin kicks, knife defence or pressure points?
-
Is okanowin karate better than japanese karate?
-
Im not really familar with karate styles so could you tell me what style of kung fu it would be most simmilar to?
-
Is it effiective in the street though? Would a shorin ryu fighter be as good as a hung gar one?
-
Well, as some of you may know, my muay thai club, is closing. My nieghbour takes Traditional Okinowin Shorin Ryu karate, and he sais its really good and i should start taking it. Could any one tell me about the style, like its history, wither it uses low stances or high stances, if its good for self defence, what type of attacks it uses..ect. That would be very much appriciated.
