  2. Are leg raises better than lunges or squats? I can't do chin-ups...tried today, only did one and couldn't get back up a second time. Don't really care about having strong shoulders anyway. Where are the flexors? Oh dear, I'm lost.
  3. lol KickChick. Yeah sorry Moobrack...what did you mean? Like eating WHILE (as in the precise moment of) exercising...hmmm, can't see how you could concentrate on doing both things at once.
  4. Actually, that's wrong. I smoke occasionally at weekends and I am not unfit. Another thing, my boyfriend is in the army and he says nearly everyone there smokes and they are VERY FIT. So yeah, smoking is disgusting and bad for you and all those things, but so what? So is alcohol. So is crisps. So is cake and chocolate. The main reason I stopped was because of the awful smell...and the fact that I could afford to drink more alcohol
  5. Just wondered... Also, oh you lot are from America...drat. Never mind.
  6. I have a Shih Tzu called Zack. He's gorgeous usually but he's just had all his coat cut off and looks ugly. No other pets...hmmm, apart from my sister's boyfriend, does he count?
  7. What a great idea taezee, mind if I have them after you?
  8. lol you lot
  9. Nice site Bustr, thanks for sharing.
  10. OMG, that diet is weird...my Aunt is on that diet (she's 37 years old) and she looks so ill...I keep telling her that she needs carbs to survive and she's like "oh no, this book says..." I don't have time for breakfast, barely have anything for lunch, then have a late dinner and snacks all night...I know it's gonna catch up with me sooner or later so I'm trying to change now.
  11. 3 times a week is plenty to be punching if you haven't got a bag I would have though... Chin-ups, press-ups and sit-ups sounds like a good variety of exercises for upper body building...although I don't know how anybody can do chin-ups...they're far too hard I probably am just as weak as I make out.
  12. Hi Sutton UK
  13. Awww F-S-K, that must be awful. You should definitely rest it for a while. How on earth can you manage to do a lead leg rounhouse anyway...yikes, my lead leg is lucky to reach the knee.
  14. That was a brilliant response, as ever, KickChick. My running instructor tells me that eating protein after exercising is far more important than if and what you eat before...but it's common sense not to eat a huge meal 20 minutes before running a marathon. The best way to get maximum energy but minimum sluggishness/sickly feeling etc...before working out is to eat a small meal made from complex carbohydrates an hour to an hour-and-a-half before starting the workout. Water and energy drinks during the workout are essential to replace lost fluid and prevent the body burning muscle.
  15. Sorry...but why is anyone conditioning their shins in the first place. I mean, the nerve endings explanation sounds sensible...but in the case of having tough skin, what does that do? Surely it's not the actual skin that does the damage to the apponent anyway...and underneath the skin is just bone....kicking trees would probably break it. And surely nobody is really mad enough to kick a tree these days A bag is pretty tough anyway, 100 kicks a day on that a day would sure to be enough.
  16. Press-ups are too hard Sit-ups are cool, the burn is a nice kinda feeling like when you ride a bike uphill in the highest gear. Press-ups just make me collapse.
  17. lol...hi Big Diesel.
  18. Good luck with preparing to learn for it then Liam!
  19. Were you 31 in February by any chance Kickbutt? LOL.
  20. Web design is hard...you must have worked really hard on your site James.
  21. I kinda think it's a good idea to award "honorary" black belts...same with degrees, to people who deserve it for work they've done that doesn't usually meet the standards for whatever award is being dished out... Not sure that he should be teaching the class though...and certainly not ordering people to do push-ups and stuff...how ridiculous. But an "honorary" black belt, or degree, or whatever, is just that...honorary, not real...given as a small token of appreciation.
  22. Good luck in deciding Liam, and welcome to karateforums Oh yeah, and if I had to choose I would do the Jiu Jitsu...but if you wanna be a pro, then probably Muay Thai.
  23. America is/are(?) 5-8 hours behind us kickbuttnat...I'm usually still up when they all come on though The joys of insomnia
