  1. I found these gloves, I'm gonna get them when i have money. http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/00/92/83/51/0000928351681_180X180.jpg[/url]
  2. I need sparring gear, so I was wondering where I could get cheap sparring gear. At my dojo, they are selling it for around $80. I need hand and feet protectors, and the head gear. I was looking on eBay, but apparently my parents say it's not a good idea. Any help on where to get them?
  3. Welcome to KF! I hope you can find a good martial art that meets your standards.
  4. In my class, we have a 6 year old black belt. So he had to have started at age 2 or something. That's the youngest I've saw.
  5. It's always male VS female at my school, for some reason. No matter the gender, the sensei said you should go 'all out' and don't let them attack you.
  6. The gi at our school doesn't really have a brand. We have a Pro Force patch on our training pants, though.
  7. I admire your attitude, really. Good luck with your Tae Kwon Do training.
  8. Welcome to KF!
  9. I would ask your current sensei about it.
  10. I take Tang Soo Do. There are 2 hour classes on Saturday. First hour is for the class, 2nd hour is for the sparring. Sometimes, if there is time, we might spend some time doing sparring on weekdays. I feel like my school does it a lot, or more than they need to, at least. I personally like sparring, so of course I don't mind.
  11. I do this all the time. Nothing to be ashamed of.
  12. I might have already replied to this, but here are the belts at my school. White belt Yellow belt Orange belt Orange belt with 1 green stripe Green belt Green belt with 1 red stripe Green belt with 2 red stripes Red belt Red belt with 1 blue stripe Red belt with 2 blue stripes Blue belt Blue belt with 1 white stripe Black belt
  13. Welcome to KF! Good luck on your test for your green belt! Let us no how it goes.
  14. Age doesn't matter. It's just a number. I'm currently the oldest student in my group class. I'm 14, and I feel sorta left out. But I'm not changing to another group class. I'd say go for it. They have adult classes at my school for people over 16.
  15. I see some schools that do this, but not many. They don't do the gold trim thing in TSD, I don't think.
  16. Of course not. These are 2 of the best orange belts I've seen. I've watched one of them test, and they did nothing wrong during the forms or breaks.
  17. When you advance from belts, you can usually get a colored lapel on your Do Bok if you reach a certain rank. In Tang Soo Do, the first belts are, in order: White belt, yellow belt, orange belt, orange belt with a green stripe. Then it goes to green but you have to give your sensei your do gi and they do it for you. You can usually get it back in a week. When doing this, my school gives a temporary "beginner" gi. The belts ranging from white to orange with a green stripe are usually seen as 'white belts' still, since they haven't completely developed the meaning of the form itself yet. You can have a green lapel with a green belt, and a red lapel with a red belt. For Black Belts you get it sewn all around your gi. Your thoughts on this?
  18. Welcome to KF!
  19. Thanks. I know, they do test sort of too quickly in between belts. There's only 3 month time periods between tests. Hopefully I can break that board. At my very first belt test for my yellow belt, I was watching other people break boards and they look like they had no problem. I take that advice. I'll post here again to let everyone knows how the test goes in September!
  20. Welcome to KF!
  21. Of course. I never keep these things a secret, especially if I dominate in the fight. Of course, I try to avoid fights at all costs.
  22. In my school, you have to go atleast 8 times a month to be able to test. Tests here are held every 3 months. After red belt, you have to wait 6 months.
  23. $630 every 6 months. In a year, that'd be $ 1,260.
  24. I know, but I said it doesn't really bother me. I wanted to hear thoughts on this.
  25. There are these two people who are skipping belts. In TSD, it goes white - yellow - orange. This person had went from white to orange. I heard from their parents that the person is a black belt in kung fu. Also, in a belt test, another person also skipped from white to orange. However, I have no idea if they took a form prior to TSD. Is skipping belts right? Does anyone support this? I for one have no opinion on this. But I must say that I think that people should go in order of belts because it's a whole new form. I understand that there are some similarities though. Your thoughts?
