Is a karateka without makiwara is the same as a boxer without a heavy bag? I mean... Is a makiwara THAT essential?
-
well, there's an embu that jin does that do not exist in karate... it's not a real kata... and there one that is a mix between Pian Yondan and Heian Yondan... looks a lot like shorin-ryu, but in shorin there are no Chudan Yoko Geri kicks like he does in the game... that's the shotokan part... and the embusen is a little bit different, the ending is like Heian Yondan, and the middle part is like pian nidan... hope I helped...

well... answering a guys question about balance: No... u don't lose your balance unless your moves are syncronized ( spell check ). For example, try to do a left gyaku zuki, then take a step foward and throw a right gyaku zuki... U'll notice that the second gyaku will b thrown before your feet hits the floor... it'll b thrown on the feet transition.. So... if you want to throw the more punches a few will be on the feet transition, and a few more can be thrown while you place the feet on the floor... Got it?

All right! ehehhehehe that kinda of steppin is my speciallity, we call it here sobre-passo in portuguese... but i'm trainin the oi zuki step, i wanna master it hehehehehe not that i've mastered the other steps, my i like this one better heehehehe the mae geri technique on the last move will probably work cause the opponent will be focused on the hand movements, so kick would be a good idea too...

i guess i found a better example: kizami zuki+gyaku zuki ( feet transition ) then a front punch a gyaku again, and then u'll finish with a gyaku or a kizami zuki dependin on your speed... that could be 6 punches 1 step i guess.. but to do to this you have to be very very fast...

Hi.. well, i'll try to do my best to explain my thoughts since my english sucks, so please be patient. all right... we know that in regular sparring ( not full contact, or a SF, a ligh contact sparring ) peolpe use to throw 4 punches in 2 steps almost always. for example: Kizami Zuki + Gyaku zuki ( that's 2 punches 1 step ) or Kizami zuki + gyaku zuki then oi zuki ( step foward punch ) + gyaku zuki... Ya know? ( 4 punches 2 steps ) SO i was thinkin, wut if i add a few punches while steppin... like this: Original: Oi zuki+ Gyaku ( 1 step 2 punches ) "my version": Oi zuki and then while doing the feet transition throw a gyaku, a tsuki, then again an oi zuki ( cause when u finish the step you'll be doing the punch with the lead hand ) and then the gyaku! ya know? that you'd be 2 steps 5 punches... i dunno if that was a good example cause oi zuki is always complicated to combo with other punch moves in my opinion... But the important thing is that you guys get the main idea ya know? wut do you think about that?

tenkamusou replied to tenkamusou's topic in Karate
Wow... i got a few replies heehehehhehee well, I was thinking on use my karate gloves, I wouldn't hit walls with my bare fists! I don't know how to say this but, here in Brasil it's not that easy to find a dojo with makiwara, or to buy makiwaras, if it were easy to find i'd have bought them already heheheh that's why i'm tryin to improvise... Superleeds thanx for the tips and support heheheheh But here's what i'm thinkin of doing: I'll put 1 one phonebook ( they're huge here ) on the wall, then i'll put a towel to help absorvin the impact, and another phonebook. I think that'd be similar than that wall makiwara... I dunno.. anyway, thanx again for the replies and the support! -

ow! I forgot... there i go talking bout Oyama again BUT, I've heard that he used to use trees as makiwara... i could use that, i guess, they are as hard as the walls ehehehehehhehe thanx... -
Hi, and I must warn you, get prepared for this one... SO, ehehhehehe i was here thinking to myself that I need a makiwara, or a heavy bag, but there's no way I could get one of those, completely lack of space at my home, if ya guys now wut I mean, I'm like like a man in a box hehehehe So I questioned myself, and now i ask to you, since i don't have a makiwara or anything, should I put my competition gloves and punch the wall? I mean, i've punched the walls with my bared nuckles a few days ago, but it just hurted to bad... I don't know... thanx... i guess that's it

I dunno.. i don't think that 5-6hrs it's good for karate.. i mean, i'm not sure, but in wushu they have much more acrobacies ( am I writin it right?), maybe that's why they have that much hours of training I went to watch a Kyokushin practice, here in Brasil were the best guys practice ( Feitosa and Filho, and Isobe ) they spend about 2hrs of training, training once in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night... I guess this way I could do it... and it could be nice... but 5-6 hours straight... i dunno...

When did YOU start in Martial Arts?
tenkamusou replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i started when i was 13... and i stoped when I got my 5th kyu... then I quit, and got back last semester... got to tell you.. I think I really understand now... and I don't regret my options... everythin on it's time... i'm 18 now... -
i was doing my MA readin this mornin and I was readin stuff bout jet li... he said somethin like this: "If ya wanna be top fighter you must train about 5 or 6 hours a day..." and I was like "WUT??" and I saw some documentary on Jackie Chan, and he said that we'd do 5.000 punches, and 5.000 kicks! I was wonderin if ya guys agree if that could/should be applied in karate? i mean... isn't that too much?
-

why dont martial artists like to lift weights?
tenkamusou replied to Sid Vicious's topic in Health and Fitness
If weight lifting is bad, and makes you slower, can anyony explain me why was bruce lee still so fast doing a great amount of weight liftings? -
Do a series of punches very very slow first so you can see wich muscles u've to focus on when u do a punch... and them raise the speed bit by bit... the same things with kicks... for punches make sure to relax the shoulder when doing the fast punches... the more relaxed more speed u'll gain...
-
i dunno.. i'm kinda learnin it slowly... it looks like a tai sabaki but avoidin the punches maintainin the front zenkutsu dachi... i dunno.. it's really weird...
