Haven't seen any more than a silhouette, but Michonne is the hottest thing since Gogo and O'ren.

Words That Lose Their Meaning

"know" I'm of the opinion that I don't really "know" anything. As a martial artist, try to be like a doctor or lawyer. You never hear them say they "know" law or medicine. They have a "practice" or a do a case "study." -
I predict the death of Hershel and his blonde haired daughter, also maybe Sophia's mom. I think Maggie will leave with Glen. I also predict awesomeness from Carl, Daryl, and Rick.

Tips/Crituque on my sparring?
MasterPain replied to technophiliac's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
First, I find the lack of suplexes disturbing. More on point, use more fakes. Part of the game is to be faster and have better attributes in general. The rest of the game is to tell lies. You were too honest about what you were doing. -
Student knocking out a bully?

I think you are seriously overestimating the stopping power of bare hands. Apart from that, why should Aiki be defense only? Like the warrior lady on Conan the Destroyer said "Grab him, and take him." I'm sure she would mean that in a combative sense as well. -
Musashi said "From one thing, learn 10,000." I think that is far more important.

If your kihon and kumite are just for point sparring, I'm not sure kata would help much.

Howdy. Hope you enjoy the community.

Once again, Pride. They had no rule against it. No 12 to 6 elbow deaths. It was a great showcase for the effectiveness of both upkicking and downkicking though. Wandelei was scary good at downkicking.

People tend to live there because they are poor. Instead of moving they should do what they can to help the community, but moving out of the neighborhood is not an option for many.

If biting were allowed, the best grapplers would eat everyone.

I highly suggest reading the law on self defense in your state. Killing someone you could have spanked is murder. Killing someone you could have escaped is murder. Martial implies military, but most of us train for civilian defense. It is a very rare case where killing is necessary to be safe. Even when escalating to lethal force, the idea is not to kill, but to stop an attack. When someone resists arrest, a cop doesn't just put 2 in his chest and 1 in his head. I was once threatened by a guy for talking to his girlfriend. I did not prison-style shank him. Either of those would have had lifelong repercussions. -
Pride was more fun to watch, but UFC is much safer for the fighters. Better match making and the rules make for less injuries.
-
You need to watch some old Pride FC. There were fewer rules by far.

The owner of the car complied and got out of the car. She was safe. A team of trained and armed police could have captured the carjacker much more safely later. The guy got shot in front of his children to prevent the carjacker from taking a car. Or did I miss something?

I can forgive Carl for Dale now, he was just a boy. Now he's a man. Insert DVDA song here. If that was 2nd to the last of the season, the finale will be one of the best hours of television ever. Also, on a side note, someone once said on here that there should be a Bujin forum, just go to the search function and type in the word "zombie"

The thing is, I would be willing to die for family, or children. I might even risk my life to help a stranger in the moment, but once they are clear, I'm not willing to be shot for their car.

I've had the pleasure of sparring with an instructor of Angel Cabales' system, it was pretty one sided. Here is Mr Cabales when he was young. Here's one you may like, notice the nice bit of tuite around 2:40. Years ago, another thing that made me say wow was having my head squeezed by Bart Vale at a seminar. That guy was ridiculously strong.

What makes you cry?- Old Yeller What makes you smile?- Lots of stuff, I try to have fun. What makes you say "WOW"?- Marcello Garcia, Marc Denny, GSP, Jacky Chan, and this lovely young lady What makes you pause?- Being overweight and tired from a day's work What makes you angry?- Unrealistic weapon defense What makes you laugh?- Enter the Dojo, getting hit with things, JCVD's Street Fighter movie What makes you think?- Monty Python and the Meaning of Life What makes you try?- Fun and a dismal view of humanity What makes you surrender?- Saskatuwan Spinning Nerve Hold What makes you respect?- Kindness, anything else can be impressive or scary, but compassion is the one thing I truly respect

You don't teach varying levels of force depending on the situation? Someone tries to take your lunch money, so you crush his treachea?! I'm all for having a lethal or maiming option for the rare occasion when it would be needed, but to have no other response pattern is irresponsible. -
Ok more serious now. Do we face the overwhelming force with an equal overwhelming force of our own? If I am capable of equaling the force, then it's not truly overwhelming. I don't like being on equal terms when force is involved, so escalate give a chance for the enemy to retreat, then neutralize the threat. Do we run away and hide from an overwhelming force, when the moment to flee reveals itself? If possible, yes, unless I'm defending others. With the exception being castle doctrine, in which case, scream like a little girl and shoot it. Do we just accept the overwhelming force, and hope that all will be well at the end? No.

Give us some context, Bob. For the more proverbial overwhelming forces, I try to skip straight to grief and acceptance, cause denial, anger, and bargaining get you nowhere.
