What is JKD?
Groinstrike replied to Mistassailant5's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Agreed, JKD should be a mindset rather than a style. For something to be a style it has to have set techniques and perameters. Lee cared not for these things. -
Hit only as hard as you wish to be hit back.

Agreed, if things are that bad stay at home where you atleast have a little security, we aren't supposed to think like superheroes or vigilanties. A car can be a great weapon when not looking "armed". On another tangent Masterpain what do you think about something about hitting your advesary with your car being worked in to the 5 values of Bujin Bugei Jutsu. LOL!!

Martial Arts Service Excellence!!
Groinstrike replied to sensei8's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well said, in my opinion, the government can screw up a cup of coffee. Governement intervention in any field usually leads to a bureaucratic, inefficient process where nothing gets done. It would be a shame for the government to stick its nose in something as expressive at martial arts. Government intervention would be a far worse thing in the long run than illegitamate teachers. -
Kyokushin vs Other Karate Styles. Cold Hard Facts!!!!!

I will agree with you that George St. Pierre is an amazing athlete and an amazing martial artist, his techniques have been geared towards a sports competition. Due to this he is focusing on certain techniques that may not be totally advisable in a combative situation i.e. a double leg takedown if your are not a law enforcement officer. Therefore im not sure that GSP should be involved in the discussion of the combative effectivness of an art. Just my opinion -

Is there a concealed carry law in Ontario, or in Canada for that matter. I am ignorant to such things. -

2/6 30 min boxing, worked defense and head movement drills BJJ: Worked half guard to full butterfly sweep and whip up sweep from half guard, as well as, working constant hip and chest pressure. Tallgeese:How bout the back leg front kick to stomach 5, works 75% of the time... every time. -
As many of the above posters have said, full contact, hard sparring is ok once in a while when you have proper protective gear such as boxing gloves and headgear. Its not worth getting hurt just for tha sake of going hard.

knowledge is power, and anyone trying to keep you from obtaining more or different knowledge is either an egomaniac or(as was said above) scared to death of losing their students. Remember owning a school, no matter what good intentions one may have, is still a business.
