Which Do you think Is Better?
jiu-jitsu fighter replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
i like pride because these fighters fight with class and with heart and are the best of the best not like in the ufc where they just put the guy up to the fence and punch him out -
kajukenbo has some nice wrist locks ,but if you wanted something fast and YOU CAN LEARN IT VERY FAST it would be a duck under ,than a rear naked choke , any bjj guy will show you how to do this in a matter of 10 minutes

well since you asked this question to jiu-jitsu guys and being one myself ,ill tell you a few very deadly techniques from bjj, the knee bar, the heel hook, these techniques should be practiced with extreme caution and watch out for those kung fu and karate guys ,cuz they;ll hit you with a dim mak hit and you;ll explode i saw it with my own eyes once lol

well if you train hard lets say 3 or 4 days a week you should pick up a h$ll of alot of grappling knowledge, do that for about 6 months and you should be more than ready, although it takes some people alot longer to understand the techniques in bjj, also you have to work to blend your muay thai with your bjj, work on taking the guy down from the clinch and you might have to modify your thai clinching habits to be able to take the guy down on a moments notice ,instead of standing there and kneeing him good luck

GET THE GOLD WEAVE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. its the same quality as the double weave but its a great improuvement, its more comfortable and it feels like a single weave, its also great for competition -
thats true and those instructors are killing the art in my school when the instructor feels that we aren't getting enough stand up, he brings in a judo sempai to work on our takedowns and takedown defenses, but yes , that is how bjj playes think, they want to go to the ground thats why they spend so much time there to have a far superiour advantage

jkd concepts is what dan inosanto and larry hartsell teach, they use techniques from other arts to try and improve and add to the original jkd which bruce lee started . now , some people like ted wong the third studend of bruce lees (inosanto ,hartsell, wong, were the only instructors promoted under lee) believes that everything was fine the way it was and that it would be wrong to change anything. this is the original jkd, good luck finding someone that teaches that. some jkd instructors like paul vunak and matt thorton have studied other arts and use techniques from bjj and silat and so on to fill in areas of training that they feel was not completed by bruce lee, or that these ares could have been improved. if i studied under paul vunak i would let him teach me whatever he wanted in the jkd class because his martial arts training from various styles only give his students more options -

OUANO.COM HAS SOME VERY GOOD QUALITY GIS SO DOES ATAMA.COM, HOPE THAT HELPS -
THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS THAT KUNG FU FORMS TEND TO BE MORE FASTE FLOWING WITH KARATEKA KATA TEND TO BE LESS FLOWING. KARATE IS MORE LIKE ONE PUNCH KILL AND KUNG FU IS MORE FLOWING, LIKE HIT THE GUY 5 TIMES. LOOK AT A KUNG FU VIDEO AND A KARATE VIDEO, I HAVE STUDIED KARATE AND PRAYING MANTIS NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE

you shouldn't worry about learning those techniques yet until you have got the basics down, I am almost a blue belt in bjj and im just learning knee bars now, well you should take caution while practicing leg locks, especially knee bars, they are great to use on the street, very fast and i don't care if I sparain the guys knee , I have had to do it b4you shouldn't worry about learning those techniques yet until you have got the basics down, I am almost a blue belt in bjj and im just learning knee bars now, well you should take caution while practicing leg locks, especially knee bars, they are great to use on the street, very fast and i don't care if I sparain the guys knee , I have had to do it b4you shouldn't worry about learning those techniques yet until you have got the basics down, I am almost a blue belt in bjj and im just learning knee bars now, well you should take caution while practicing leg locks, especially knee bars, they are great to use on the street, very fast and i don't care if I sparain the guys knee , I have had to do it b4you shouldn't worry about learning those techniques yet until you have got the basics down, I am almost a blue belt in bjj and im just learning knee bars now, well you should take caution while practicing leg locks, especially knee bars, they are great to use on the street, very fast and i don't care if I sparain the guys knee , I have had to do it b4you shouldn't worry about learning those techniques yet until you have got the basics down, I am almost a blue belt in bjj and im just learning knee bars now, well you should take caution while practicing leg locks, especially knee bars, they are great to use on the street, very fast and i don't care if I sparain the guys knee , I have had to do it b4 -
WELL I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT IM TRAINIG IN BJJ AND ON MY WAY TO BLUE BELT AND IN BJJ (IM SPEAKING FOR MIST BJJ SCHOOLS) THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC RANK REQUIREMENTS OR SPECIFEIC AMOUNT OF TECHNIQUES NEEDED TO ACHIEVE HIGHER RANK. IN BJJ ONCE YOU SHOW THAT YOU HAVE PROGRESSED AND SHOW SOME KNOWLEDGE THAN IT IS UP TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR TO DECIDE WETHER YOU HAVE EARNED BLUE BELT, THIS IS THE METHOD IN PROMOTING RANKS IN BJJ WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BLACK BELT!!!!!!
