  1. Welcome James
  2. Thanks for sharing that. It is a good read.
  3. A Sensei does not need a school to be a Sensei. You only need a student. Therefore I would like to apply to be your student so you can be a Sensei.
  4. I'm looking into getting a new Chest/rib protector. I've never used one before. Looking for something light weight that provides good movement. I would like get some options on what everyone likes and why. Yes, getting hit is the best option but sometimes it happens. I don't mind the pain so much, it's the not being able to breath that sort of becomes a little inconvenient. Thanks,

  6. Welcome Wastelander!
  7. Quote from DWx "One solution is to not let students attend a grading unless you are certain that they will pass, " I agree on the point of not allowing a student to attend a grading if they are not ready. We grade students through out the year based on how effort they put in every class. To quote Sensei8 "Proof is on the floor"! I can tell you who will pass before grading begins. IMHO a student has already passed to attend our grading. This is their chance to show off what they have learned.
  8. I agree 100%. This happens in all sports. In the eyes of most parents their children are all the best. No parents likes to see a childs failure. But the truth of it is failure is part of life. With out it we never learn.
  9. Congrats! Teaching kids is a rewarding task.
  10. Welcome menzterfan
  11. Great job shotokan-ste.
  12. That was great!
  13. Only a suggestion but you might want to practice doing it in reverse. Start with the kick out and bing it back to the starting position. Don't try for speed as that will come later. Just do it slowly and work on the technique first. I know a lot of students have problems with this kick. I even know some higher ranks that it still looks like a round house. Jeffrey
  14. Brett Favre failed to lead the Vikings to a comeback victory over the Jets Monday night. So for those keeping track: That's twice this week he's come up short. If you haven't guessed I like to make fun of Mr. Favre. You're right about the KC. You need to take those chances against a team like the Colts. The 2 missed passes really upset me. Those thinkgs happen but I feel it brought down the whole team. Almost like they gave up. We'll have to see next week.
  15. Welcome sandstorm
  16. I will echo Sensei8 and also wish you the best of luck.
  17. Randy Moss has rejoined the Minnesota Vikings after being traded by the New England Patriots. Brett Favre says he's excited to have a new target . . . to overthrow.
  18. No one should be treated this way.

  22. It's called runners high. It is highly addictive. I just finished the 10km in Banff a couple a weeks ago. I started a couple of years ago and can't stop.
