Of course Kchenault, just like the post there (j/k) -
Kensai You have already proved you know very little about the martial arts, plus you have very unreasonable opinions. Besides, my "Trowel of Destruction +2 Strength" is far superior to your "Wooden Stick of Weakness - 2 Constitution" (I think I've been playing too much D&D )

Just a quick note - I'm travelling to Blackpool on Friday evening and not returning until Sunday night. Hence I will not be able to participate on the afformentioned days. Hopefully I won't miss much. -Tobias -
My mum and dad got rather drunk a few years ago in the USA. We walked home, not without the "Sensei-ni-rei!" in the middle of the road. Thank god there were no cars

Yes, I do agree that some weapons are 'better' than others at dealing with other certain weapon, BUT, I would rather hold a staff against someone holding tonfa who has no idea to use them. Then again, I would rather hold tonfa against someone with a stff PS. (e)-men rule......in more ways than one, eh Kensai?

I know that one of the major kobudo associations has a lit of weapon kata, but I'm not sure whether the katas with the weapon touching the floor are accepted. To me, that is a step down for the competition - moving away from actual application (sand throws etc.) to flash stuff (spins et al) But what can you do..
-
Jigsaw mats are cool - if not for their texture, but for the fact that it makes the dojo look like Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
-
I've always thought that thats a stupid rule, and I don't abide by it in my comps. What about the katas where the weapon is designed to touch the floor, such as Cho-un-no-kon, and sakugawa-no-kon. (moves such as a sand throw) Then there are the zai katas where the weapon is supposed to be thrown to the floor. Whats the deal with that - maybe someone can enlighten me.

I'm sorry, but that sounds like art bashing, which you seem to be against Kensai. There is no difference saying "BJJ is better than karate" than "Sword is stronger than staff". It depends on the practitioner, doesn't it - that seem to be what you preach.

I think you need to realise the powerful Okinawan combat forms such as Naha-te, Shuri-te and Tomari-te Your question is not reall a question, more of an inane babble. Please can you back up your original statement with some fact?

You're not the only one who thinks that. This also kinda relates to the 'eye for an eye' theory -One death equals another. (but thats very controversial)

Sound = OK, Good, Acceptable, Fine. Basically, it means that I think you are an 'good' guy, who hasn't caused me any harm. Never heard of that b4 -

DBB S'ok, I wasn't getting at you - just making a comment. You seem like a sound guy, and being from England is always a benefit -

Patrick For once my sarcasm button wasn't on. You were correct in what you said - most people call us the "X-men" without the (e). You see, the (e) is the joke........mumble mumble.............blah blah........etc etc -
Sorry, I meant things that you have seen.

I have to agree with HobbitBob about BB Mag. I do recomment Traditional Karate - there is a top column called "Tools of the Trade" written by Albie O'Connor (hee hee.....my instructor.....). Tis a very good column. Covers everything, not just kobudo. Read, read, then read some more. If you have any time left, then read again.

You'd be surprised - some forms of karate do. -
Ok, this thread was spured on by something I saw today. I was in the car on the way back from representing the department at a recruitment fair. My line manager was driving, and we were just doing what everyone does in a car. Suddenly a car crashed into a motorbike a few metres infront of us (I won't go into the details). The guy flew in the air and landed in a dodgy way. Fortunately, a police van was coming the opposite direction, so they provided some danger limitation. I have no idea how the biker is. The last thing I saw was him not moving with a bobby holding his head. The only other time (thank God) is when my dad fell off a ladder and was knocked out for over 30 mins. That was pretty nerve racking. So tell me - any of you people experienced that kind of thing?

Keep with contract or leave? Mcdojo problem
Tobias_Reece replied to rabid hamster's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i don't normally reply to posts like this, but there are some special reasons............hee hee........ I have to agree with MonkeyGirl for once ( ), is it really the training that is the problem, or are you just sick of it. Ramy also has a good theory about whether you are doing the MAs because thats what you are used to. Join a snooker centre, play some American Pool - thats what I did. I'm no good at it, but I get a massive release from life when I pot those funny looking balls. Far greater than any karate I ever did. But then, I might get bored of Amercian Pool. Is it then the time to change to 9-Ball Pool, Snooker, or Darts? Get my point? -

The (e) is the whole joke thingy. X-men isn't really funny, but (e)x-men is. You see, the joke kinda revolves around the (e). My God, I'm a comic genius!!!!!! -
