OK I am going to tackle this question as cautiously as I can .... another view of "Chi"... Sexuality is a universal way for people to quickly access their chi flow. The ancient Taoists developed many different methods to tap into this energy -- one being chi kung. The Chinese have a concept about the frequency of ejaculation and orgasm for men and women and according to this theory, men are meant to have frequent erections, lots of sex, and only rare orgasms. Regular ejaculations drain the kidney/adrenal chi (energy) and possibly lead to fatigue, decreased vitality, or lower back weakness in men. When the adrenals are weakened, there is also lower ability to handle stress. Women are meant to have as many orgasms as they wish, which are energizing to them. And if the man is not releasing all the time, he will have more sexual vitality. _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. http://www.kazaa.com/en/index.php This is by far the best MP3 download site that I have used. It's a P2P ... You can download videos too. Great search engine (by title or artist or genre) and you can hear the selection as you are downloading so if you don't like it you can cancel ithe download.

Yes, I had posted twice in response to you ad. You saw my first one I'm sure regarding that you can't spot reduce by doing crunches to achieve a 6-pack.It's 50% Nutrition, 49% Cardio and 1% Ab Work. In fact (get this!) researchers found that it takes 250,000 crunches to burn 1 pound of fat --thats 100 crunches a day for 7 years!!!!! 1000+ reps of ab work four days a week is an amazing feat of endurance, but that’s not how you get abs! You probably have outstanding development in your abdominal muscles. Unfortunately, if your abs are covered up with a layer of fat, you won’t be able to see them no matter how many crunches or sit ups you do. You "get abs" from reducing your body fat and you reduce body fat mostly through diet and cardio. So I said in my second post (which is missing) that "great, you have a treadmill! So when is the best time to use it effectively for maximum fat burning. And that is first thing in the morning before eating breakfast. When you do it first thing in the morning, there are no carbs to burn, so all your body can burn is body fat! When you do cardio first thing in the morning, you haven't eaten anything for the last 8 or so hours because you were sleeping. So, when your body sees that there are no carbs to burn, it goes directly to stored bodyfat. And stored bodyfat is the fat that is on your body, which is the fat that you want to lose! If you jog after breakfast/lunch or dinner, your body will just be using the immediate calories/carbs you have just injested. Kinda defeating the purpose no? So doing cardio first thing in the morning (try 5 days a week for 20-30 min. jogging 2 miles or so), on an empty stomach, before you eat anything, is by far, the most effective. Wow ... I thought I was losing my mind this morning ... so it's not me! I hate to repeating myself ... but this was worth digging out of the old memory bank! _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Yes those are all good sites. I believe we have several threads on martial art equipment sites. If any of you members have purchased previously from an online source, you can post the link to their site in the LINKS section up on top . Thank you! And BlueDragon1981 ... nice site. Which reminds me -- I need to put a few of those nice looking KF banners on my site!

KickChick replied to DeeLovesKarate's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, for you "younger" members I would imagine being "obsessed" with martial arts is better than being obsessed say, with a number of other things that you can be obsessed with at your age. There are those that are obsessed with sports, skateboarding, music ..., the opposite sex! See I cannot possibly be "preoccupied" in my mind with martial arts. It is so much a "part" of me. It is what I am --wife, mother, friend, martial artist! I do find myself making up combinations for my class (kickboxing) or all of a sudden a sparring strategy, an ab/pushup routine or a strength training exercise will pop up in my mind during the course of the day and I write it down (hey I am older I forget sometimes... ) ... or I think of a great topic and rush home to my No.#1 obsession .... YOU GUYS !!! -
hmmm, maybe next time put the entire post in double quotes so that we know you are quoting. What a site "McDojo.Com" ... ... I'm glad there are some teens out there (ahem Patrick) that can at least turn out a more quality web site ... rather than a takeoff of "martial art jackass" with the admin. as Johnny Knoxville.

Well, I don't know about you guys but it's been a couple weeks now and I am wonderin' how karatemom survived her first sparring experience. We've recently had some new women join our school (actually we have a few crossing over from fitness kickboxing to begin training in TKD) Seems their worst fear is .... sparring! Our class (Black Belt) is before theirs and when they see us "go at it" it's enough to make any beginner want to run out the front door! I tell these women to just keep their guard up (protect that face) by digging your lead elbow in along side your oblique area, other elbow across your mid section and stay in a sideway stance (until you get the feel of sparring your opponent).... and just throw the combos you learn in class! So KarateMom where are you?????? Did you survive?

Tried tonight in class .... roundhouse 3 boards. Tried several times until ball of foot was numb! Managed to break the last 2 but the front didn't break. One of the black belts was nervous cos there was "red stuff" all over the top board ... just my red toe nail polish Tried a roundhouse speed afterward but no go ... next time (my foot was too sore to "feel" the board. Yes I hear ya taezee "like a whip" I'll be -

I believe we were referring to a sparring situation ... whereas he and she are martial artists. In a self defense situation ... yes, you can possibly out run if you can get out from underneath him! You've never seen a muscular man in person?? boy, I do believe I feel priviledged now!

Change in Dan Requirements
KickChick replied to KickChick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Thanks for that site! I 'specially like the Gen Choi breaks! WOW that slow spear finger break is mighty impressive!! (thats a good one for the archives) I noticed lots of women doing breaks also... but what's with the 1/4 inch boards? (even for that 5 board break ) ...when they fall to the ground they sound like pieces of panelling (maybe they are!) Well, needless to say, my boards have to be 1 inch thick pine. I'm trying to work on tossing the board up in the air and as it comes down, executing a speed punch .... but I keep missing and it lands on my foot. When I do make contact it just lands several feet in front of me ..... "unbroken", ah more speed or more power _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. It's not a "problem" .... yes, it's an issue and not just an issue for just "New Yorkers" its an issue for America and worldwide! Not just NY'ers were affected , but every single person in the world ... it was the "World Trade Center". True, New York will never be New York without the twin towers, they should rebuild them, when watching a movie set in New York, what do they show? the Twin Towers!! commercial about New York? Twin Towers!!!! commercial about America??? Twin Towers and the statue of liberty!!! in Europe commercial about the United States? Twin towers again!!! I say rebuild them either exactly as they were, or even higher! But I do like this architects work ... I really like the memorial he planned. http://www.wtc2002.com/start.lasso We need to rebuild the twin towers .... how more can you memorialize something than to build something back like it was? Let's show them we will not be intimidated. Dedicate the new towers in memory of those who died 9/11. _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Change in Dan Requirements
KickChick replied to KickChick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Hey I didn't realize that was the school you attend! I've been researching different "breaking" techniques and I really enjoyed viewing those clips on your school's site! I know what you mean about those "old" masters. Our instr/owner is trying to get the master that instructed him to visit our school ... (his name is Master Rhee ...not the Rhee -- it's a common last name) and he's about 68 or so and still very active. I think I'll stay with TKD forever if those are the effects! -
Six proposals to redevelop the World Trade Center site were released Tuesday to mixed reactions, with critics saying they included too much office space on hallowed ground and had too little imagination. http://www.cnn.com/interactive/us/0207/wtc.site.rebuild/frameset.exclude.html You decide! "While no plan includes buildings as tall as the 110-story twin towers, each evokes the lost towers with at least one needle-like structure perched atop a building. The tallest structure in any of the plans is 85 stories. Each plan includes the word ''memorial.'' John Whitehead, the head of the agency charged with rebuilding the site, said the proposals are works in progress and are subject to change before the final choice is made in December."

The importance of WTF Black Belt Poomse
KickChick replied to taichi4eva's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
(although I practice the ITF bb forms I would like to reply....) I believe what taichi4eva is asking is as a black belt, should you concentrate on just the black belt form or do you also practice the first form on up to your level. Sometimes the class as a whole goes through every form together(white on up to black). Students are bowed out when their form has been completed and go off to the side to practice again on their own. Black belts remain to the very end. Then there are days when individual belts are called upon to perform their form. It is mandatory for a black belt to practice forms (1-their specific form) on their own if not done during class time. I don't know about many of you, but if I don't make a habit of it, I tend to forget them .... even Chon Gi!!! ) Also, I don't know about your school but we do have a separate Black Belt class now where we concentrate on just our forms but then go over all the other forms giving them that "special" black belt feeling to them. Not only should Black Belts retain the perfect execution of each form for their own standards but it is necessary if they eventually want to instruct (whether it be to lower ranked students during class time or taking on their own class at their school). -
Change in Dan Requirements
KickChick replied to KickChick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Exactly! I believe that is why I reached such a plateau during my first year as a black belt 1st dan. Honestly I never believed I would ever achieve that degree .... when I got my brown belt I felt that was going to be it and was quite satisfied for a while at that level of training. So as black belt you do get rather complacent ... you learn several "new" techniques. but actually you are now at the point where you are "perfecting" your skills & techniques, but many feel as if you are just doing the same techniques over and over again ... when really it shouldn't be viewed in such a way. What I should have done was to learn the forms following Kwang Gae on my own. If you have the time (which is difficult for me with work & family) it might have helped ward off that plateau feeling of not learning anything new or being challenged as you were in the beginning of your training and also that feeling of complacency. (.... not to mention I would have been ready to tackle these new requirements,... I would have been a step a head of myself) _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Change in Dan Requirements
KickChick replied to KickChick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
actually Bretty it's not short notice of grading (its short notice of change in dan requirments) ... I've been 1st dan since May of 1999 so it has taken me 3 years to to "ready" for next grading. When I say "ready"..... yes, I have the necessary lessons but with this change in organizations (from USTA to ITU) came a slight change in the number of forms I need to perform at test. I have been doing Kwang Gae for 3 years now .... and now to "learn" 2 additional forms which you described very well, i..... it is like learning Chon Gi as a white belt! ... I am feeling the same frustrations ... "No the left over right".... "no my other left over right" .... "Step over the right foot up on left toes" nononono over the left.... I guess you mentally stagnate for a while when new forms aren't introduced to you as much as they are as you are climbing up the ranks early on in your training. Hey I've waited this long .... I will wait until I can nail both of them down and thank you all for your encouragement ... Can I "bottle you all up" and bring you to my grading??? _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Yes I do! I thank you for the offer ... I just may take you up on it! Yesterday I tried one of my "speed/power" breaks with a punch and I think I may have broken my index knuckle! If it's not one thing it's another Any advice on those type of breaks or suggestions for a certain type of speed break would also be welcomed! I have been practicing this one shown here for my hook kick break http://www.mntaekwondocenter.com/gallery/gallery_qt4.html _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr. Hey so you did finally find a school and your martial art! (spinninggumpy gave you some advice it seems ) White Crane has a real cool history behind it: Over 300 years ago in Southern China there lived a girl named Fang Chi Niang and her father had learned martial arts at the famous Shaolin temple and in turn started to teach his daughter. Unfortunately bandits killed her father and she swore revenge. But her training had not been completed and she wondered how she could defeat these stronger men! Then one morning she heard strange noises outside her window. When she looked out she saw 2 white cranes fighting each other. She observed their techniques of attack and defense for a while but then decidded to go out with a stick to shoo them away. But each time she struck out the birds easily evaded the stick! After a while they flew away, leaving Fang Chi Niang exhausted. So impressed was she by these bird's movements, that she incorporated their techniques into her fighting system. After 3 yrs. of hard training she lost her desire for revenge but became famous as the founder of White Crane! .... I didn't know whether you were aware of the beginnings of the style you chose (but you did mention your dad was also in ma) .... make Fang proud! _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr.
