  1. You can achieve the same effect by doing the front splits, and "pinching" the floor with your heel. You can also achieve this by falling into the front splits slowely without touching the floor with your hands.
  2. Way to go! If you competed in sparring, I sure hope it wasn't with that knife you're wielding in the picture. Maybe you should introduce yourself in the "Introductions" section.
  3. Greetings, Shotokan warrior.
  4. The belt can be so tight that I look like a toothpick - yet the top still shifts out of place all the time.
  5. Also see a knee specialist (that is, if you aren't poor like I am).
  6. My current instructor claims that I overpivot on this kick. I spin really fast, and sometimes my foot goes a little beyond 90 degrees. He used the word "crazy" to describe my kick. What do you think?
  7. When you sit in chairs, make conscious efforts to sit up completely straight. Don't get wierd around friends, but sit up during classes maybe, or at your desk, etc. This might help.
  8. I agree with Rich.
  9. That's what Propell Fitness Water is for.
  10. What they said. Probably the quickest way of defining a McDojo is a "martial" art school that will give you the belt you test for simply outr of payment. You could be beatten up by your little sister and still get the black belt simply because you showed up all the time and payed the fees. So do you want some fries with that black belt, eh?
  11. Thanks blobby! I wonder what the Japanese stylist is doin' around here?
  12. Yep, your best bet would be to do them slowely thousands of times a day until your form is so perfect that your knee only suffers jarring problems when hitting things.
  13. Yes, yes, I was feeling a bit sarcastic.
  14. Yes. But I've never seen it really in action, as I haven't watched too many Wesly Snipes films.
  15. It seems to also be called "Shaolin Kickboxing" and appears to be taught in both traditional and sport manifestations. There's also talk of it being featured in the 2008 olympics. What's that all about?
  16. What's wrong with The One? Other than the fact that it had no humor, poor characters, and mindless violence - you gotta enjoy the mind-boggling finesse of the last fight scene.
  17. Currently about 5 times a week not including home workouts. About three times at TKD and 2 times at Karate.
  18. You'd think it wouldn't be hard in one of the world's biggest cities - but that's just me. I hope you find what you're looking for.
  19. Thanks, that's a step in the right direction.
  20. The Matrix I and II Fist of Legend Titan AE Terminator 2 The One (Every once in a while I enjoy mindless violence)
  21. Sorry! "Pure" was an inside comment geared to the fact that the style I started with had a strong tinge of TKD already in it. Now I'm just studying TKD, and not some strange hybrid. And yes, this is WTF.
  22. Recently started up pure TKD in a city that I'll eventually be moving to. I like the Dobock better than the Gi. Why? Cuz it's a V-Neck, and doesn't have the stupid drawstrings that get undone, rip, and even get lost afterwards. I'm a really lean guy. Sometimes, I have to tighten my belt during class because of water loss, and then it feels somehow too loose. During high intensity kicks, I usually end up having to pull the top down because the rest of the uniform ends up bunching above the belt, especially when it's not so tight. It's not as bad as the Gi, but I still find it annoying to constantly be pulling stuff back into its proper place. Does anyone else find this aggrivating as well?
