THE MATRIX you fools... -
Dang it!!! I want to start Kyokushin instead of going to college. Double drat...

Spin hook kick + accidental takedown! I caught the dude in the back of the head and found it difficult to stop my momentum. It wasn't until my heel and his head were a foot off the ground that I was able to stop spinning. I tell ya, I've never seen that move even in a movie... Another time, another partner: Tornado kick + spin hook kick, both swiping the top of his headgear.

Yet again, another argument against this "no marriage" deal in priestly Catholicism...

Therefore, never fear, Nofear: as long as you are staying away from roids there is nothing negative about lifting weights.
-
I've noticed opposite at times... developing your athletic build with most forms of continuous exersize causes your body to produce more testasterone - nuts need that hormone to manufacture semen - therefore, well, you get the idea.

I own a cat, but drat am I gonna miss that ball of fur going to college.

Is another night like Friday nights training the only thing that will make you feel better? (guilty) Do you workout alone? (very guilty) Do you find that once you've thrown a jab, you can't stop until you've followed it with a reverse punch? (guilty, sometimes throw a hook after the reverse) If so, you may be (gasp!!) HOOKED ON KARATE. How do you know? Here are a few clues. You know you're hooked when the first word out of your parrot's mouth is KIAI!, and you teach your cat how to free spar. (sometimes I'll try to place my hand on my cat's head without her whapping me with her paw, but I don't know if that counts.) You know you're hooked when you shut the refrigerator door with a side thrust kick. (guilty with many kinds of doors) You know you're hooked when you shop for clothes based on whether you can kick in them. (guilty as charged) You know you're hooked when you look for a place to live based on the amount of practice space it provides. (slightly guilty)

Not fun, people, even wearing a cup. I was once at a tourney where I got spin kicked in the cup. No lasting injuries in the long run, but I was slowely leaking semen for about two hours (scared the life out of me)...

Who's your favorite all-time Fighter??
Ironberg replied to G Money Slick's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Aside from Bruce and Chuck, Bill Wallace is da man. He would have been better had he not had the knee injury, but he kicked his way to championhood. -
If Jason Tankson, Trevor Nash and Raymond Daniels have no technique and if Casey Marks, John Su, Daniel Sterling and Jason Boyd are performing ugly forms, it is maybe the same. Well, the sparring can sometimes have no technique that is really visible, but the forms, to me anyways, are far from ugly.

I use a mixure of the two as well, but there is something to be said about "broken rythm". Simply start circling more if you with to pace yourself and get some air, and await or feint for the next opportunity to clash.

You can swing your forearm into the path of the fist - possibly injuring their wrist. You can use an inside palm block if you have alot of shoulder flexibility, and are in a reverse fighting stance. You can also use the palm of your lead hand - but you better be quick as heck if you are in a reverse fighting stance (lead fist close the hip, and other fistcloser to neck and chest).

Dig out some underground trance - I've seen it work well.

Yep, good points. To me, a military push-up is done with the knuckles against the floor, not the palms. A chinese push-up is done with the palms about a shoulder-width ABOVE the head (I think).

Atta-boy! My respect for middle-aged fighters just went up about six points. -
Olympic TKD clips anywhere?
Ironberg replied to Ironberg's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Holy Cow! The first clip on the page consisted almost entirely of a two black belt wearing women jumping up and down facing each other. I was running my fingernails down my face watching it - almost shouting in anger. I've enjoyed watching yellow belts sparring better!!! The highlights clip was amusing - I'm rather impressed with the utter lack of side kicks in the clip. Then there was the part where one of them got amnesia from a head kick - and thought he was in a sumo match, trying to push the other guy out of the ring! I was laughing my azz off! I downloaded another match and watched in horror the pain of utter anticlimax. Their fighting techniques consisted of shouting at each other, hoping their womanish screams would transmit sound waves that would shatter the other's brain lobes. I've sparred in karate tournaments, I've sparred in Tae Kwon Do tournaments - this isn't sparring. I've never seen anything like it! Thanks for finding that website, though, that took some effort. And yes, I'm positive that your fighting clips have a much stronger intensity factor. -
olympic tkd vs. normal tkd

I couldn't agree with you more. -
The most effective area for side kicks is the midsection and ribs. This is comming from a notorious high kicker here... Sure, I've booted people in the head with side kicks as well, but not as often as more circular kicks, round kicks, ax kicks, etc. The side kick was designed primarily as a battering ram that the hips generate more horizontal torque with, that torque is most powerful when the socket joint springs into action against midsection targets.

Personal training in uniforms
Ironberg replied to Kaos666's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well personally, I'd avoid wearing the GI in public, well, just because... You're just asking for some jerk of a jock to come around with his buddies, bad mouth you, and start something you'll regret. In public, I'd go to a place that is going to attract the least amount of attention and for heavens sake do not "Kiap" at your loudest. Wear something loose and sporting, but don't make purposely make yourself a target for silly- minded bozos. Probably the most I'd do is wear one of those Chinese silk Kung Fu/ Tai Chi outfits, but do that in a pretty secluded environment. If people, ask, just give them straight, short, and honest answers... In private, do whatever- as long as your kiaps don't disturb the bored sleeper five hundred yards away. -
