  1. An oldie, but a goodie indeed!
  2. It happens rarely, but sometimes it's more chronic, or otherwise ends faily quickly. It feels like a bad muscle pull, or pain, occasionally directly on the navel, and hurts like a Be-atch when you raise your chest into the air, or bend backwards with more chest emphasis. I just had this pain again last night, took some motrin, and it was completely gone in the morning. The last I saw it was six months ago. What is going on???
  3. Depends... There are so many class formats that it's insane. Here's something more typical: 1. warm up - 50 (give or take) pushups, 50 crunches, 50 jjacks, stretch for about five to ten minutes... Take your pick from (four at most): 2. forms... 3. Kicking drills... 4. Hand drills... 5. One step sparring/ takedowns... 6. Sparring (rarely these days)... 7. Heavy bag workout... Then 8. More calisthenics (clapping pushps, speed kicking drills, etc.) no warm-down... If you want one do it yourself
  4. How can you grapple without head contact. If sweeping is your definition of grappling, well...
  5. A combination of sleep deprivation and solid training has rendered me unable to remember 90% of what I dream. When I'm out, I'm out - therefore I don't have to worry about the wierd dreams like I used to.
  6. In the striking area, I recommend: - Muay Thai - Kyokushin Karate - Wing Chun - Straight Blast JKD - A GOOD TKD school (well... too bad you had such a bad experience. Then again, I rarely see short-stalky guys do well in the art for some reason or another.)
  7. Hmm... does anyone else experience it too? It's kinda ackward, really, it feels like your lungs are imploding and it sends shivers up your spine.
  8. Yes. We need some more clarification.
  9. I'd recommend Kyokushin to any obsessed sparring freak. I'd be taking Kyokushin if I had the chance.
  10. Hey, that's deserves a congratulations. Way to go!
  11. I used to compete in NASKA all the time until I got too frustrated with the denial of head contact.
  12. Accoding to the first Martix, various martial arts were "downloaded" into Neo's mind. I'm not sure what the Reeves actually trained in, but I'm hinting at a lot of Chinese arts.
  13. Mine's an extremely loud "I-YAAA" that would make a punk band proud. Let out your rage, I say.
  14. That's one things I've been fortunate with: very few weight lifting injuries. But, it probably explains why I'm so bad at it.
  15. hmm... using your emotions to fuel aggression - I like that.
  16. Another week, another set of bruises, bumps, and tendon strains. Last week I spranged an ankle. This week I bruised my heel and twisted a knee. Gotta love contact sports. I don't know. I've been getting more and more nuisance injuries than before. Anyone else feel the same?
  17. General Choi said himself that "TKD is a new art created by me... There was no TKD before Christ"... Tae Kwon Do, however, was buffered by the existence of Tae Kyon - a 1300 year old martial art.
  18. Drat! Now I'm stuck at 148 mph.
  19. Howdy Zen Diva. I appreciate kata too, but I exist for the sole purpose of sparring.
  20. Welcome
  21. I have to say flexibility. It comes before agility and precision (I suppose precision counts as coordination). I don't know too many males who can preform the full splits in all three directions. Yay for TKD!

    Sparring

Yes! The shin block is a very useful tool to deflect leg attacks.
  23. The thing that I find helps in this is to hold the horse stance properly - while holding heavy dumbells. Do this for as long as you can in sets - and try this with your other stances.
  24. Does anyone here practice this, or some form of Chinese Kickboxing that allows throws. Could you point me to any good informational websites on Chinese Kickboxing.
  25. I have a really poor quality mouse with no pad - I can't get past 89 mph. GRR!
