  1. Way to go, man. Good to see your reply. Best of luck.
  2. Well... In that case, the coolest move I ever did was a long time ago. It was when I was 12 - I was outside in the cold, made a snowman of some sorts (one really big snowball, and a smaller one for head). I removed the head with a crescent kick, and sent an ax-kick through the body like a knife through an apple. It wasn't sparring (unless the snowman's name was Frosty), and I was wearing boots, but it was cool outside. I hadn't even started martial arts at the time - them kicks came naturally. I think I was inspired by watching some kids play Tekken at the arcades (and they say video games don't cause violence).
  3. That's just nasty!
  4. they work maybe 90% of the time for you in your class, in your given style. They won't have the same results for everyone. In your first combination, when that outstretch4ed leg hits the floor, I would use what I do best - leg kicks. My guess is that my leg kick slams into your leg before your reverse touches me... Some style's fake kicks often double as a shin-block or a kick jam. This depends on the philosophy of "commitment" with various kicks. Some JKD schools use fake kicks like that create openings. Arguments can go both ways, so I guess we'll never really see until people start duking it out
  5. I don't think leg-checks target the head.
  6. The instep or ball of the foot - just like a round kick.
  7. Not really a fight, but an easily controlled situation: I was having this really annoying kid badmouth me. Him play kicking towards my nutts was really pinching a nerve; he wanted a go at me. I was doing everything I could not to just pound him into the ground. Instead, I very lightly swatted him across the cheek with a hook kick - not with perfect control, but close. He never toyed with me again, and we eventually reconciled. Fortunately, I never got into anything worse than that.
  8. I wouldn't mess with Randy Coutiture (sp)... I believe he recently pummled Chuck Lindel.
  9. Picture a front kick that is sent out at an angle, and kicks a target that exists slightly past your shoulder kinda like a bicycle kick. Both instep and ball of foot work on this one, but you need a truckload of hip flexibility to bull this one off. Some call it a twist kick.
  10. Try this: Stretch after a grueling kicking workout as a break. Then kick some more, and stretch again. The muscles are most elastic when they are overheated. This helped me tons.
  11. I usually go with silence - but for those grueling heavy bag workouts that are primarily cardio, I go with techno/trance. Stuff like the harder tracks by trance[]control, or Members of Mayday, or misc. mixes and remixes of various DJs.
  12. I caught the guy in the face two days ago with a twisting instep kick that finished a one-two combo.
  13. Slow motion kicks help alot. Really, they do...
  14. Listening to music... Computers (3D art, games, programming, etc.) Sequencing music (FLStudio anyone?)... Wasting time on internet forums (while listening to music of course)... Listening and watching amatuers grow in their musical sequencing quests...
  15. Hello! I'm a TKD-ist as well. Be careful about TKD, most schools aren't legit. The TKD school I go to is primarily sport, and that's fine by me, because of the other martial art school I attend. You have to visit schools, dabble in what they have to offer. Most importantly, if you have other friends who are martial artists, analyze their abilities to see what's right for you.
  16. Krav Maga enthusiasts, and similar styles, claim their style is geared towards self defense.
  17. Yep. The combination of that plus few good strikers that equals a large portion of fist fights ending on the ground.
  18. Trained instict will win more often than natural instinct. Martial artists who are not letting their technique fall into the area of trained instict will fare worse than natural instinct.
  19. Hmm... I wan't a steak - ribs will suffice as well...
  20. Can't argue with common sense, above.
  21. The guy throwing the high kick is in a very very bad position, that is, if the other guy is his opponent...
  22. Work, work, work on your foot speed. That's all I gotta say...
  23. I have forgotten how addictive puzzle games like this can be!
