  1. My vote goes to Chuck, but I don't think it will be a first round win.
  2. Well, I don't think he has been referred to as a 'master', but Bas Rutten says that Kyokushin was the base of his striking skills.
  3. That's awesome. I've raised a couple injured birds, and I greatly enjoy it.
  4. Congratulations! What do you play?
  5. Well, here is a bizzare story from my school. One of our students, who has only been in the class a few months, suddenly felt the call to fight in a mma match. Keep in mind, his striking skills are alright at best, he's only around 8th kyu or so. So he began training, and started working out with some nearby grapplers. He seemed to be progressing alright. Fight night comes along. He's fighting 3 5-minute rounds, and 15 seconds into the first, he's knocked down and loses by a TKO. He also had to get 4-5 stitches somewhere on his face. So, I guess the moral of the lesson is: Wait until you're a great all around fighter before you get in the ring.
  6. Congrats! That's extremely good to hear.
  7. I agree with gzk. Definitely have it looked at.
  8. Welcome to KF! I'm quite new here myself, but I've enjoyed it so far.
  9. Happy birthday and congrats!
  10. Congrats! I just tested for mine the 19th, so I know how you feel.
  11. Hmm... this round I will have to say KarateEd's jogging haiku is the winner. Ed, do you want to judge the next round?
  12. Athena, the syllable count for a haiku is 5-7-5. Any other entries? I'll judge soon.
  13. I usually spar in a side stance, closed to the opponent.
  14. I invite all interested to a haiku battle. Basically, you can post haikus along with other members and I will judge them and declare a winner. Anyone interested?
  15. DWx is right. They can be useful, but be extremely careful, as wearing weighted clothing increases your risk of injury.
  16. I personally think that boxing has declined in popularity for two reasons: 1.Excessive championships. It's extremely difficult to figure out who is the current champion with so many tournaments. Boxing needs to go back to one champion for each weight class and one governing body. 2.MMA. With the rise of another combat sport, boxing has faded into the shadows. Boxing can definitely be reborn, it will just take time.
  17. Hey, I'm testing for my 1st dan in TKD in a few weeks. Just wanted to say hi, this looks like a great forum!
