I'm not too good at nunchaku XD I am a total beginner and still have to get the movements down pact. >.>;; I've tried a homemade ropedart..was fun for a while..then I hit myself and now i have a small scar on the bridge of my nose XD ...wonder if I still have that... oh yea... DON'T START OUT WITH A ROPEDART! they are hard >.< extremely hard O__O

Oh yea I watched it good movie. Um.. I watched the special features part thingy. I believe it was actually jet Li who came up with the idea fof the different style to tell the two characters apart. Otherwise, they're both him and that's confusing XD Not much of either style in the movie really, but I'd like to think there was enough for me to get the basic point(s). XD

hmm visulization. I have..a very active imagination. And it gets activated easily. This one guy was talking to one of my friends and I was near by and they were having some..conversation I can't rememebr much. and he said "imagine me dead" (or something to that effect) and what happneed? I imediately imagined him dead -.-; ggood point to an imagination like this: I can imagine anything. Including fighting from 3rd person, though it happens more often in dreams for me. bad point: can imagine anything..including that...ermm... >.>;

Sparring/training/martial arts music
Athena replied to NightOwl's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I can go with out music but a room of people and music playing creates a warm feeling in the room. That and music just gets me so hyper XD ...slow songs excluded of course >. -
This might or might not be a good answer..but I'm not all that well studied yet ^.^; I would most likel;y reach up and grab the readying fist with the closest hand and then very quickly punch him with the other fist., as i am able to use both effectively Hopefully the punch would be good enough to tip him enough to be off balance and then go from there *shrugs* and with my punches..the tilting thing isn't totally unconceivable XD So, there we go. There's my answer. Good or not..XD you only asked for what I would do..if I was like myself at this moment. Annd I've had a year of wrestling, learning the basics..but I hardly ever use any of the simple tricks that I learned

unlress they had an IQ of a napkin i don't think they would offer free lessons for doubters and challenge people to come and get knocked out if they didn'yt beleive it themselves. -
don't worry if it takes you a while to figure it out..it took me all the way from when i first got interested...to this year XD

So? if my other self doesn't want the stick stolen they'd have to either beat the crap out me me very quickly or stay away from me. Actually...neither would be very easy. if we are identical..i could easily keep up with them and steal the stick..and the beating up...i am used to ALOT of pain...the only thing I have left is um...breaking a bone >.> *shrugs* usually i am all against fighting myself. But I felt like answering.. XD
-
XD knife. even if it is just a butter knife. >.>; i know..I seem crazy...even if I do actually specificly train with the bristleless broom stick *sweat drop* so why choose the knife? So that I can stick the stupid butterknife in my pocket, roll up my sleeves, walk right up to myself while cracking my knuckles and steal the stick...i know my own weaknesses, i know how to take pain, I know how to steal a broomstick...and my otherself would only be able to use fists and stuff...heh hehe *sits back and crosses arms with satisfaction*

I personally don't follow up on the no tea rule XD they say it's bad because of caffine but it's got some sort of thing to help you..i can't remember it. So I forget it and drink tea when ever i feel like it..and like I said..this is just my personal thing. I have nothing to say about the physical stuff before mentioned, they're good As for food.. try and avoid canned foods..they usually have tons of salt and other preservitives. Vouch, instead, for fresh veggies and stuff. With your dinner always include veggies with your meat...keep it balanced Try eating food with garlic and onions... wheat germ is very good to start eating as well. and keep up with that water!

reallyneevr noticed being called a man O.o hmm m*reads over thread* as far as gender goes i don't mind it..ive been called male names before because of my real life tom-boyish name -.-; just don't call me an "it" and we'll be fine. and thank you for your thoughts on reflection Wahoo! Thank you Bushido *huggles* haha, he hit the points exactly.
-
Crrection to you Montana. You don't need an instructor to improve. It just takes more time. Thank you bushido! No harm done and nothing held against you, But would you people please concider the person doesn't always have a diff. option other then to self teach? I live in a small town here where when you say "martial arts" people usually link it directly to karate...and half the people you know might know karate to SOME degree. (occasionally people will tease about "kung fu" and some people more involved with the world might venture to guess TKD. that's it though) I also said I was leniant with my training. Focused on more important things. school first hobbies and interests second I am a afraid. But now I Am becoming more skilled with managing my time so bleh XD
-
we do what we must, youngman. I'll face being teased once in a while in school and looked down on by school/mentor taught people to at least feel like i'm learning, that i'm getting something out of doing and practicing what I love. So yea. matched up to a yellow belt in tae kwan do with 4 years of leniant training. but now i'm up to at least 2-3 times a week. As far as i'm concerned, no one is allowed to look down at me because I self taught, and be able to effect me without coming over here and testing me for themselves. Then they can look down on me, but the only thing that's gunna happen is I'll start working harder XD

haha yes very nice ..but i don't get the part at the very end O__O -
a litle alte to the party but yea..hey

how long does it take to get to a yellow belt in tae kwan do? because earlier this summer, I sparred with this boy who was yellow belt and almost to the next belt and we ended up in a draw. I got him in the mouth w/ palm strike and at some point, his fist was just like half inch from my face. He insisted on fighting no contact. back then, I could NOT fight no contact. Been self teaching myself for about 4 years (and constantly getting better) so I'd like to know >.>

both those for and against any type of self training have a point. I understand this situation because I am in one very much like it. you CAN learn to fight from books and vids with hard work. What makes martial arts different from fighting is.. it's organized and taught in an organized manner it has philosophy behind it. Do not attack unless you were attacked first or the person attacked an innocent. Martial arts is not just learning how to kick butt. Those who study martial arts may seek it to become and stay healthy, to learn morals and other internal stuff, or to learn a very powerful last resort. As for me, I beleive I do not need to study philosophy of martial arts. I never had to. I discovered all in my journey, i have learned it just by living my life. ..i've had a heck of an adventure and am still going I learn martial arts AND how to fight because I want to protect myself, but much more important to me. To protect my friends and innocents should they ever get into trouble. So, with my philoshpy in mind. I just need to learn how to use my weapon in order to protect. Wich is, evidently, myself. and I self teach from book and vid. Thank you very much.

"get ready for this" - 2 unlimited great for a pump up song also there's "get ready to rumble" which is very close in sounding to get ready for this.

favorite internal training exercise
Athena replied to Kajukenbopr's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Adonis i am HARDLY an official on chi/ki either but i will mention this XD I usually have so much energy that i need to focus energy on supprrsing that energy otherwise i'd be on an almost constant sugar buzz XD I know what that type of energy feels like..i can literally FEEL it inside me it's pretty cool actually, and I can munipulate it at will (also, pretty cool) just remember what it feels like to have a sugar buzz..to have so much energy that you just go silly...dunno if this helps any O.o but then get a handle of it and calm it down until you feel about the way that you started >.> this is one 'exercise" thingy that i use myself >.> i have many ways to deal with internal training heh but this is the only way i can explain chi/ki to a person who doesn't seem to be able to understand it. tell them how to feel it and how to control it so yea...probably a long post, i wouldn't know..i'm using quick reply XD I meditate sitting, I meditate lying on my back..i get up in the morning when the sun is bright, jump onto the trampoline, go through my leg stretches and then lay down on the trampoline and strecth anyways that makes my body feel good. I love to stretch it feels soooo goood I put my music on and move like water..sometimes i do this without the music and just imagine the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the water going back ad forth back and forth..well ya know. and just take moments in the day to relax and enjoy a little peace and quiet. (but yes..i've gotten so good..i don't need any sugar to get a sugar buzz..though i do enjoy a good bit of candy once in a while) -
well it can be almost anything for me XD I've used all sorts of music to sort of "meditate" err >.>; maybe ..and focus on homework.. But I use mellow stuff that gradually changes from soft and slow to maybe a bit more speedy and up beat but still sort of the same concept. There's this great album that's like that I use "Crouching tiger, hideen dragon" or the other way around..for waking up in the morning, stretching and maybe i'll sneak in a little martial dance meditative training.. XD i don't know what else to call it but it wakes me up and always keeps me calm. Mostly to use in the morning but alright when it feels like one of those "lazy days" where the weather is calm and you just feel like lazing around the house. Violins are great for me, flutes too and some drums in it's hard to explain..really wish i could give you a taste of the music but when i'm just sitting out in the sun or something and want to meditate..i listen to the wind..no music is gunna replace that *music is in most aspecs of my life so i got music for EVERYTHING XD
