Incompatitbility of Budo and Christianity?
LeaF replied to hobbitbob's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It is my belief that any martial art will only increase previously existing morals and beliefs within the trainy.... I believe that at some subconscience level everyone has something they believe in whether they accept it or not... the martial arts can bring out these beliefs in people... it does not create them... thus I believe that the martial aarts can be compabitable with any religion or belief system because it is merely a tool to challenge and strenghten preexisting morals.... -
yea definitely... if you want to work on your knuckles get a maki wara... I've seen too many people mess up their wrists by punch a bag without gloves or ones of sufficient support.... how big are you tokeabowl... that question alone could easily influence the type of bag most benefital for you....

I was unfamiliar with alot of there terms but I'm hoping my guesses will hold -
My school has been open for 11 years, and have a fair amount of blackbelts, some have left but they have pretty much all been middle aged and it seems most of them quit because of disagreements with Sensei or other personal reason, I suppose the biggest reaon we don't have alot of adolesents quiting at blackbelt is that you are not permitted to reach that rank until age 18, which solves that issue altogether. So one would think it impossible to reach blackbelt at my school and not realize it is only the begining of the road

LeaF replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
True, better late than never Zero, I personally started when I was 7 -
I'm for japanese terminology, mainly because the art I study uses it

yea, I am trying my Darndest -
I never said there was information here, or at least I didn't mean to. All I was aluring to was that I had never used what I learned her in martial arts research papers etc. Because people often have conflicting views and it is sometimes difficult to determine reliable information, altough as Patrick suggested if checked using a search engine one could determine the accurcy and accountablity of the post
-
yes I suppose it is good to verify information, and get infromation to verify on a search, altough I have never used it for that purpose, I figured this would get a reply out of you Patrick
-
I'm not sure I would use this site as a way to look up information, lets remember this is a forum and often information is posted inaccurately or incorrectly, this is a good place to chat and discuss but not the greatist resource for information

I think that would be the dumbest thing possible. This would cause so much more hatred against the US than every before, and don't enough contries already hate the states. Rather than cutting them off from aid, which is completely inhuman, free rich coutries should send more aid. Educate their people of concepts such as freedom and peaces, things we take for grant it, so that they can make desicions for themselves and not have to live by what their leaders tell them. Give them a reason to love you don't cause more hatred.

very nice, it is nice to see more people contributing to this thread

as others have said the palm has it's purposes. It is very difficult to punch certain parts of the body and often less effective. Just like elbows and fingers prove better for attacking certain regions so does the palm of the hand.

I suppose it is all subjective, but I concider moder style to be styles without katas, and are fairly newly developed ie BJJ and Mauy Thai (altough I am aware they have been around for a while). Also modern styles often tend to lack a spirtual aspect. I am not saying one is better than the other, merely giving my definition of what separates them

here's another couple I use http://www.vipers.co.uk/martial-arts.htm http://www.martial-way.com/ and my favorite... http://samuraisearch.com/ hoep that helps

yea definitly visualize, but don't just visualize the same attack being done countless times, let you imagination go wild through some variation in there, visualize diferent possible combos etc.
