How scared REALLY are you to fight?
The BB of C replied to Throwdown0850's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I really don't know anymore how mentally ready I am for fighting. -
Hurting My Sparring Partner
The BB of C replied to Aces Red's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
May I ask you to describe the school you're in now and the kind of people you spar with? -
You have no idea how much I agree. Wires drive me insane! I love watching the guys that can do all that stuff without the wires though. That way you know it's real and that they could really do that to someone if they needed to (though I kind of hope for the other person's sake they don't ). "The Protector" and "Drunken Master" are by far my favorite martial arts movies.

I'd agree.

I've heard about it. I considered going and then reconsidered. -
Breaking a Baseball bat..
The BB of C replied to Throwdown0850's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It requires a lot of painful training, focus, determination, and conditioning to the point where you could break three baseball bats and not feel it. It is an extremely cool skill. -
I think most schools I've seen often use too much control. I think control should basically be full and pulling back just enough so one doesn't cause brain damage or a broken bone to a sparring partner. Whenever I am sparring, and I get hit hard in the face or wherever for that matter, I always yell at my partner for appologizing. "Don't ever appologize for hitting someone durring sparring. Last I checked, that's what you're supposed to do. If anything, that's a reminder to me to keep my guard up and work on my reflexes." then they say "But I don't want to hurt you." and I say "Hit me as hard as you can. This is what martial arts is about." then they say "But I need to exhibit control." to which I reply "A) If you train over controlling yourself, you'll never deliver the force you need on the street. B) The only control you need with me is enough control to not break my ribs into my lungs. Now put your guards back up!" That's what I believe

If it's good karate, it will indeed help you, I believe. -
The style if you had the time...
The BB of C replied to NightOwl's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I would kind of like to take Judo, Aikido and Wing Chun along with Kuk Sool Won and Isshin-ryu. -
There can be a balance between speed and power just from being fast. In basic physics, speed = mass. Something my teacher told me "I could throw a 22 shell at you and you wouldn't feel it. But if I put it in a gun and launch it at you at 320 yards per second, it does damage." There's also the balance of speed and power by being just as quick as you are fast. That'd be cool if you got to be that fast, but don't forget about how fast Bruce Lee was able to make very wide, sweeping movements. He also wasn't always going as fast as he could in movies. During filming of "Enter the Dragon", they had to ask him to slow down because the camera couldn't pick up his movements.

Veteran black belt joins new MA style - status?
The BB of C replied to Takeda Shingen's topic in Karate
I believe he should be taught the style as normal but still treated and respected as an experienced martial artist. -
Banned arts?
The BB of C replied to Existence_is _suffering's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I heard in China when the communists took over they banned a lot of martial arts and replaced it with performance Wushu. I heard they even hunted down and killed a lot of the old masters. -
Will do. I'm working on the eigth chapter right now with about four more to go.
-
I'd rather not give a title right now. It's an adventure novel.

You're welcome. I'm glad it's working. This is all stuff I was taught by my older brother when I was thirteen years old and it made me who I am today. Even in your age, as the next couple years go by, you'll notice dramatic all-around changes in yourself and in the way other people treat you.

Thanks. That's sincerely reassuring

I did. Then I became paranoid and edited it out.

Congradulations. It sounds like a very fun test and a very good school. -
Tougher, Faster, Stronger
The BB of C replied to Aces Red's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think it's best to flow with him, use his energy against him, and when you see an opening, to use a technique that will instantly and temporarily immobilize him or knock him out. -
What is your best break...
The BB of C replied to NewEnglands_KyoSa's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
that is certainly a unique break. i've never heard of such a thing, that's cool. but i don't think my neighbors would appreciate me busting down our fence with my hands and feet My older brother, at the time, worked in landscaping and one of his jobs was to rip down an old picket fence. He brought it home. As soon as my little brother and I saw it, we dismantled it half of it even further, propped and stacked them up with lawn chairs and cinderblocks and spent the day punching and kicking and chopping posts into pieces. Then we burned the other half of it later that night. -
Wow. That's not good. I think you really should take what Bushido_man96 and I suggested.
