Blue: Kickchick your supposed to know everthing !! Kickchick: I am ?? Blue: I rest my case. -
Maybe i should have been more clear We dont have anyone teaching Hapkido exclusively. However, we do have places teaching TKD/Hapkido or it may be listed like aikido ( hapkido ) seeming to make those two are interchangeable which i know they are not.

It's an interesting discussion. As a former extremely heavy pot smoker i would add how do you gauge when someone is impaired because of it ? If a person in a bar has a couple of drinks and drives but is not legally drunk or impaired, where could that line be drawn with law enforcement ? Most ( if not all ) people i would think smoke pot to get high. Even to catch at least a buzz. Many people who drink occasionally, including myself, can have a drink or two and be fine, i'm not sure that's possible with pot. Thoughts ?

Hi three360, I cant speak knowledgeably about missing your period, although i would agree that infrequency at your age would be common. I have a 13 year old daughter. I have to commend you on your efforts to eat well, but i would think that perhaps that could be part of the problem. Kids ( no offense ) while they shouldn't obviously be gobbling down the junk constantly, as so many do, and trust me, a lot of adults could take advice from you, need fats and sugars and such as part of a balanced diet. Have you seen a GYN yet ? Or have you discussed with your mom yet ? Regards -
Taezee, Would you mind covering the differences between Hapkido and Aikido ? Are they the same ? I've been thinking about taking up Hapkido instead of TKD but am finding that the three arts are kind of lumped together. Regards

Thanks

That's it ?!? - Kickchick your supposed to have all the answers I felt it right away - he had us doing like spinning snap crescent kicks. Go figure i can do them perfect with my left leg - it just aint happening with the right though. It's this same kick that i hurt it with before - I have some Celebrex at home that i'm going to try..perhaps if i would have taken my Geritol before i went to class I thought i had stretched out fairly well, could you recommend or direct me to stretches for the groin area that i could do ? Regards

A couple of months ago i posted a thread about having a groin pull..well i did it again and i dont think it's a groin pull. Someone pointed out a few other things that i could have been such as a tendon or something. I did doing spin kicks but only on my right side. It hurts when i raise my knee to my waist, any thoughts on a stretch or anything that would help this ? Thanks

This is by far the best one i've seen for WTF forms and info and also lots of good general stuff. http://www.fisks.com/tkd/default.htm I'm pretty sure Kickchick pointed me to this one a while ago..thanks again !

Anybody got a solution for a pulled groin muscle ? We were practicing spin kicks about 2 weeks ago, i took 10 days off and went back last night, hurt it again..not good. Will stretching help or hurt ?

That's a very interesting thought Deby, The instructors and many students from my school are very well educated people. We have dentists, PHD's, University professors, A law professor, a few CEO's, a bunch a law students and other university kids going to Grad school. -
How long do you stretch/warmup for class?
Blue replied to koreantiger81's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Our classes are similar to what deby is describing. We're expected to stretch before class and do swing kicks and such to stretch during the beginning of class. For me anyway, i always stretch at home before class and then about a half and hour before the class begins at the school. What i wish is that we could work on our forms more. It seems we do very little of that in the classes i attend. Do you ever wonder if you spend a little too much time thinking about TKD ? Yesterday as i was taking my daughter to the doctor and went in afterwords to meet them, i caught myself doing an introduction like we do in class: Skaking hands and bowing The guy must've thought i was either being very respectful or nuts. -

Of course we have jobs to earn money TigerKorea Perhaps it is different in Korea, in the school that i go to we have classes that are as short as 45 minutes and as long as 3 hours. I normally attend three classes a week. Monday for an hour, Weds for 90 minutes and Friday or Saturday for an hour. It's not that expensive 65 dollars a month. I have plenty of time to practice outside of class. We also have a lot of younger kids in our classes and many adults. Although not many that are as old or older than i am, almost 38 Regards -
A woman i used to work with put it this way: Yes, opposites attract, but as you look down the road with relationships after the initial infatuation wears off ( nobody stays madly in love ( imho ) for life..it's those opposites that will drive you apart. If you look at this way, if you've got married, raised kids, the kids left, and now your left with someone you have nothing in common with. Not a good thing. I experience this in my life and i wont go into it as it's not appropriate. My wife and i are really opposite people, we have zero in common and do not like the same things and while our relationship is secure and ok for the time being, after the kids are raised and it's just the two of us things could be different.

It's just my opinion but i cant stand any of the reality shows, it's voyeurism at its worst. I think things could actually progress to the point where The Running Man ( depends on how many of you are old enough to remember that movie ) will actually be a reality.

I think i have to agree with everyone here and say that i would definately not have cosmetic surgery. For medical reasons of course, for personal stuff or just to look better, not a chance. It's so dishonest with yourself.

Christian Martial Artist ??
Blue replied to Bro_Joey_Gowdy's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I'm a Christian also. I've actually had a little trouble reconciling martial arts in my heart while keeping in mind Scripture like loving your enemy and turn the other cheek. While i can learn how to fight - is it right to fight ? I wouldn't really say that i identify with a denomination although i go to a Lutheran Church and yes through Christ all things are possible. -
I can get 300 lbs a couple of times, for me anyway i'm more impressed with myself if i can do 220 twenty reps. That's a killer.

Hiya..bro-joey, I've seen you on another forum i post on. Good to see you here.

Our testing day is probably similar to other schools. The test begins with a 5 minute talk from one of the black belts evaluating. A short time afterwords the black belts and master instructor are brought in, introduced, everyone bows out and then we leave and wait to called in by rank. The white belts first and so on. Tests are forms, one-steps, free sparing and break. After a short q and a session we're dismissed.

Broken wrist about 4 months ago during sparring. I went to kick someone a little to fast more than likely with lousy technique and fell and landed on it. I'm finally going to be testing for my orange belt this Saturday, Thank God.
