  1. I once had two guys start fighting in the nightclub I used to manage ,over an argument about which snowmobile could climb hills better. I barred them for 2 months for the sheer stupidity of it.
  2. I only saw the commercial for it and the breif glances they showed of that the guy looked like crapola. Needless to say I refused to even watch the show.
  3. A) I haven't been a kid for a long time B) "Your Mom" hasn't been offensive to me in years, so I would'nt do anything.
  4. I did'nt get into MA for some life altering philosophy, I can get that at church. I have never studied a traditional art, with a traditional "Mr. Miagai" like sensai who was there to change my outlook on life. I got into my MA's for the combative aspect of it...period. Not everyone who trains is in it for enlightenment, or spirituality, or essence of budo. I have refrained from posting any of my exploits here because I'm not a blowhard, however I am tired of people looking down their nose at an individual because they got into a fight with someone. Life gets ugly sometimes and walking away isn't always the best choice. It's not your place to ridicule someone who made the choice to stand up for one's self. It's a hard choice to make, I've been there. When some a$$ decides that you will be the target of his sadistic games, it takes a lot of fortitude and courage to finally draw the line in the sand and let them know that, that's it. And as for me giving MA's a bad name...whatever. You don't know me, or anything about how I conduct myself, but I can tell you I promote MA's a lot better than some of these traditional "belt-factories" and their "sensais" I've seen.
  5. You want to know why some people go after those who threaten them?? Because you can only tuck your tail between your legs and slink away so many times in life. There comes a time when people have to stand up for themselves, whether it be to a bully, to protect someone else or to protect your self. Turning the other cheek every time trouble rears it's ugly head will only get you hit twice. Some people get walked over their entire life with their head hung low, and some people pick their battles and walk away with head held high. No one on this thread ( a thread in the COMBATIVE section one might add) should be ashamed of standing up for oneself and fighting once deemed nessicary.
  6. I was quite small growing up and was the target of a lot of bullying but fought back almost every time. Sure you lose a lot in the beginning, but you get better...sooo much better !!!
  7. Not only that, this is a combative section of the forum. The question was posed to hear about others situations, not to be preached at about a philosophy that not all of us study, or even joined MA's for in the first place.
  8. One more "big" fight against a real contender may put him in punch drunk land...so far that he may not be able to train someone. The man already has a hard time making sense during an interview. Holyfeild and his people shoud probably look at coaching now. Look at Buddy McGirt, long distinguished career...knew when to get out and has become a very sought after, very successful trainer. He's done wonders for Arturo Gatti's career!
  9. Oh no...I missed the essence of Budo. I must now go bury my head in shame .
  10. I've been in street fights and I don't feel any shame whatsoever. Does this make me less of a MA? Does this make me any less "serious"? Not everyone takes MA's for some spiritual or phlisophical life altering experience. Some of us take the martial part seriously.
  11. I found that the one on my calf hurt more than my othres. And man oh man did I ever sweat
  12. "Life is what's happening while you're making other plans"
  13. I would have run him down too....but probably found guilty with the number of tire tracks across him....
  14. If you don't like the orders that much, you can always go to a non traditional school. A MMA school or the like. I know I would'nt like taking orders from some little cheesehead 12 year old "blackbelt"
  15. I got knocked out playing hockey. I took a slap shot to the head. It went like this.....bright flash....dizzy.....wake up in locker room under shower.....still dizzy...
  16. I would agree with Cross....especially the backward step and them attack, using straight shots like a good strong cross. Hit and Git.
  17. Good luck Ironberg...I hope you have an International rules competator, it's so much more exciting
  18. Oh no....did he lose to Larry Donald?? It was time to hang them up a long time ago...I mean he looks in great shape and all, but he just dosen't have it anymore.
  19. I like how everyone with a camera ran to the fight for some prime time footage.
  20. I don't know how things are run in the States, but I know our school in Canada was set up as a non-profit society, which enabled us to apply for government grants and lottery funds etc.
  21. I don't know where you're from or what your community offers, but when I was bouncing I was studying Jeet Kune Do at the time. It workied out well for the job. Enough striking and grappling, as well as some nice dirty techniques to get you out of most scrapes on top. Good Luck mate, and i hope that getting whupped once dosen't chase you off from bouncing, some of the best times of my life occured while I bounced.
  22. Google him and find out
