Work a lot on your technique, particularly trying to put more of your bodyweight behind kicks and punches. One good way to do this with kicks is to lean into them more, rather than throwing your body away from the kick as some instructors teach. With punches its better to lead with your hip and shoulder, holding your arm in 'chamber' until you can feel a stretch across the back.

Remind me to build a nice, big concrete bunker a couple of miles underground to hide in for the rest of my life.

MA broke me up witmy ex gurl..............

He started the fight, deliberately and without provocation. To be honest he deserves anything he gets. Certainly go along to make sure he doesn't get slaughtered, but I'd say sit out unless that happens. -
But you could say the same for the faster guy having the advantage over the slower one, so surely that argument is somewhat pointless? Obviously if all other things are equal then the stronger or the faster fighter will win, that's because they're better.

Incidentally if there's a firearm for every man, woman and child then that means that there's also a bullet for each of them. Nice thought, huh?

Actually TKD yes, some of us aren't rich and can't afford a computer. Or at least didn't used to be able to.

Originally chi referred to air, because it was through that your blood vessels carried air rather than blood and that this was your life-force. The main reason for the was because dissection was very much frowned upon, except for criminals who were almost always beheaded. The pressure in a beheading allows the blood to pump out, leaving what seem to be empty blood vessels. Even when it was discovered that they did carry blood the theory was adapted so that the veins carried blood and the arteries carried air. Sounds a lot like the flat Earth theory to me.

Step inside the reach of the punch and use one arm to block, with the other arm performing an elbow strike in line with the step. Either that or step under the punch and through with a reverse knife hand strike or finger thrust to the throat, or more likely a rear inwards punch to the chest.

Marine cadets? Never heard of them before in my life. Silent killing techniques aren't exactly tough. There's the throat slit, smother, neck-break, back-break, knife through the neck, eye spike, and that's just naming a few.

If you get a big enough tank, no one's going to try and stop you.

'Conditioning' your knuckles by hitting bags of sand repeatedly, knuckle pressups, and similar is almost a good idea. It does give you more solid knuckles, unfortunately it also means that when you reach fifty you'll have trouble holding things like pens, knives, spoons, and so on.

Serving Two Masters-Is it ok?
ckdstudent replied to koreantiger81's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
It depends, I can see their point if you're training in two different but similar arts. We have karate students constantly switching back to their old style even years after they've left, and its somewhat annoying. If the arts can't be easily confused though I don't see a problem. -
I dunno, gimme a tank over a firearm anyday.

How long do the masters go

If you've spent fifty years conditioning your muscles to do exactly what you tell them and practicing and refining your techniques actual physical strength becomes somewhat irrelevant. -
Welcome KickBoxing.com Users!
ckdstudent replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
For all of the kickboxing.com users, great site, the only one I've found which actually contains information on CKD. Thank you. -
The first two knuckles are natural weapons, pretty much built for punching. They're essentially tougher. If you have to hit with the others try to hit with the bottom three, it causes a little less damage to your hand.
-
One of the easiest things to do is to just buy a double-bladed throwing knife, they're more expensive but you can throw them pretty much however you want and they'll stick. With others it depends on the weighting of the knife, whether the blade or tang is heavier.
-
Lots of people say that the brain is a good weapon, but have you ever been hit by one? I can't see them doing much damage. Seriously though in a fight there isn't much thought involved, simply ingrained reflex. You don't have time to bring in the whole thinking stuff.
-
Actually you can get hold of ones with live blades, you just want to be very careful about not cutting your own fingers off.

Your Most Confident Technique
ckdstudent replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Probably twisting block trap, pull into reverse elbow strike followed by backfist. It sounds like several techniques but pretty much works as one continuous movement. -
I used to be able to do 25 reps on 210kg, but that was a while ago.

Depends, you can adapt to less. Maggie Thatcher survived on four hours a night. Then again you can see what it did to her.

I'm a Suzuki Swift 3 litre, small, unassuming, innocent looking, low fuel consumption, low maintenance, somewhat shabby, cheap to insure and accelerates like the devil when you put your foot down. [ This Message was edited by: ckdstudent on 2002-05-29 14:52 ]

Are your stances rooted or just deep?
ckdstudent replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
You say that tessone but I saw an experienced Shotokan Karate student actually drop into a horse stance in a fight. The fight was very, very short. -
Bruce Lee also had so little body fat that its a miracle he didn't simply die from that, you need some body fat for insulation, energy reserves and padding amoung other things.
