  1. I'll bet you and I could have a contest! ...Im just glad to know there are more people out there like me......
  2. Man, those are KILLERS.......great workout..thanks for the input....
  3. Hmmm...very hard to decide. I can go ahead and tell you I eat VERY unhealthy...I have never touched one vegtible in my life, except for carrots (which I dont eat often)....I have never liked veggies's. Even when I was 3 or 4 months old, my mom said I never ever ate things like peas, squash anything like that... I have even tried them as I have gotten older and I just cannot stand the taste of any of them, so I am bascilly a meat and potatoes guy..Im basiclly a sucker for any meat or potate products....................... Ok who wants to take bets that I die from either a massive heart attack or colon cancer...............
  4. Took the words from my mouth.........
  5. Good posts ya'll. I know its a very techniqal question but I enjoy learning things like this...........guess I'm kind-of a science geek.......
  6. This is probably gonna sound like a stupid question....if so please forgive me, but I'll try to ask this without confusing ya'll with my stupidity.... .............at what point or "distance" would you say that a kick or punch has the most power?.......i know most people would say at the very end of the kick or punch, but is it possible that the "highest" point of power could be just before full extension of a kick or punch? I know that sounds stupid but I was curious to everyones thoughts.
  7. I have many other hobbies like hunting, fishing, camping..ect.......but I am SO GLAD I decided to get back into MA. I have class tonight and I cant wait. I just wish my flexabilty would hurry up and get better... It hinders me in doing things I'd really like to be able to do, but I know it takes time.......anyway I sure am glad I got back in it...........
  8. The key is to drink sports beverages before and especially DURING your workout, to maintain your blood glucose levels. As your glucose drops, protein metabolism for energy goes up, and that's when the stink monster takes over. Try Gatorade powder in the large container. It's a lot cheaper, and essentially the same stuff. In a bind, fruit punch with a pinch of salt works great too if you add at least one part water to it. With respect, Sohan Very good info. this is exactly what I do. The salt also will help (to some extent) with preventing cramps, for thos ewho have problems with them.
  9. Ive watched a lil of it....and I dont know about you guys, and I dont like to "pick" at people about things, but does Sanaz's (I think thats her name) "kia" or yell get on your nerves when shes fighting? It is just annoying and reminds me of fingernails going across a chalkboard. Shes a great fighter and Im sure could kick my tail, but her "kia" is just so annoying. Anyway, I know I'm wrong for saying that, please forgive, I didnt know if anyone else felt the same way.
  10. In a sense I dont want to leave my family, but no I'm not. I know the hands that my faith and assurance rests in...
  11. I agree. As others have stated I also believe that it also has to do with the persons phyisical build. Yes, technically (most "normal" people) have the same nerves, muscles, ect... but depending on size build, ect.. our bodies sometimes differ, in a geographical sense, of exactly where these areas lie. The human body is SO amazing. I mean there are parts of the body, like the appendix and tonsils that sciencetists doesnt really truelly understand their function or purpose. Sorry to get off the topic, intersting discussion though.
  12. Thank you all for your comments and encouragement. I really really appreciate it.
  13. Thank you very much Sohan........that means alot coming form you. I dont know you personally but from reading your posts I can tell your an intelligent person.
  14. Honestly, I am not a bragger or think "highly" of myself but I am proud of the accomplishment I made in class. Our belt ranking system goes like this......white, yellow, blue, green, purple, brown, black.....then up to 10 degrees in black belt. I was taking karate several years ago and got up to my blue belt but had to quit for several reasons. My sensi said, when I started back, that I needed to start from the begining and work my way back up. I have know my sensi for over 20 years and know he is not in it for the money (classes are 25.00 per month and rank tests are only the cost of a new belt 10.00) Our classes are VERY tough and he works us out ALOT. Ive been back at it for almost 3 months and Ive been working very very hard. We had a rank test the other night and I know all my katas, forms, basics, techniques for all the way up to my green belt but I was testing for my yellow belt. During the test he asked me to perform katas and techniques at a higher level, but I thought he was just testing me to see how I would handle under pressure. Well it was him and 3 other black belts (Hes a 5th degree and there was a 4th degree and 2 second degrees) as judges and all 4 stated that my technique and katas and fighting were way well enough to allow me to go back to my original belt from when I left which is my blue. So he allowed me to skip my yellow and return to my blue. I have NO dought that he really beleives this because he has NEVER done this, but him and the other black belts said that I truely deserve it. I am so happy right now I cant explain. I know some of you may say that this wasnt right, but I think my skills are up to par with where im at. Sorry to be so long winded, Im just excited. Just wanted to share.
  15. Last time I maxed was about 6 years ago. I weighted either 165lbs or 170lbs (cant remember) but I do remember my max, it was 315lbs. one time only. Right now, at this time, 315lbs would cave my chest in and push my heart and lungs through my back. I guess that was one advantage I used because of my short arms, I knew they would come in handy sooner or later.....
  16. Sure, just as there are people who can do complex math problems in their heads, whip up a gourmet meal with spaghetti O's and pancake syrup, or dunk a basketball while blindfolded. We all have our talents, but it is up to us to apply ourselves to reach our potential. Sometimes those who reach the top aren't always the ones who can leap the highest but those who never stop focusing on reaching the summit. Or something to that effect. Respectfully, Sohan Man, that is good. I like that wording a lot. Very inspirational. I agree 100%
  17. Thats what Ive always heard....just like a home run hitter..power comes from the hips first....same as a powerful punch...power comes form hips first....not saying its correct, its just what Ive been told....
  18. Ok I see what your saying...thanks alot for the advice
  19. I can strectch way past 90 degrees in splits but when I side kick a little past 45 degrees I pull my groin muscles. I guess im not giving them enough time to heal. I went 1 week without stretching or kicking and started back slowly but it is still happening. It is SO frustraing....has this happened to anyone else?
  20. As stated in my other arm reach post, I'm 5'7" with a 66inch wingspan. I have to work real hard when sparring against taller oppenents, bu tI am usually strionger than they are. At one time I weighted in at 165 lbs and benchpressed (max 1 time) 310lbs. May not be much to some but it was to me. Guess a short reach has, like everytinhg else, has advantages and disadvantages.
  21. wt. 215.....ht. 67 inches...age 30.....bench 245.......= 11.08
  22. 215lbs.......30 y/o........67 inches tall.........press 245lbs......= 11.08..... I think I did this correct.....
  23. 215lbs.......30 y/o........67 inches tall.........press 245lbs......= 11.08..... I think I did this correct.....
