  1. I tried to search for this topic but couldn't find anything, which I was probably looking in the wrong place also. If you stretch really well and have a good workout and the next day your muscles are sore (specifically your hamstings and front of thighs) is it ok to stetch these areas the next day or dont stretch and let them rest? Thanks.
  2. Good idea, I see what your saying. May look into something like that. Thanks everyone for your responses. Very helpful.
  3. Thank you for the reply. Yes, right now thats basiclly what Ive been doing. I guess I was wanting to be able to practice everything at or close to "full force" more often. If that makes sense.
  4. First off, let me say I live in a very small town and this is the only MA school close to me. I really enjoy beign around my instructor and classmates, but unfortunatelly my classmates are teenagers (ages range from 13-15). I'm 30. When we spar, I spar against them but of course everything is controlled and my instructor has even gotten on me for not being more aggressive against them. My concern is that I am not able to really be aggressive like I want because I'm alot stronger and bigger than they are. Yes, we are all close in rank, but I cannot spar against them like I can against my instructor. My instructor is a great teacher and I learn alot from him when we fight and I get in alot of "real time" practice against him when we spar but he has alot of hip and knee problems that prohibit him from being able to spar alot. Do ya'll see what I'm saying? Another thing that concerns me is that I'm wondering if I will be ready to go to tournaments and face other guys my age and rank, because I mainly only spar against people that are smaller than me. I know there are alot of teenagers out there that can fight, dont get me wrong and the teenagers that are in my class are good and are great to work with but I still can't spar against them at the same rate and speed that I can against my instructor and I'm really concerned as to how my skills will be when I enter tournaments. Does that make sense?
  5. Ive been a nurse for 10 years and worked in many ER's for 8 of those years. Where I worked (which was in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisana)...we could not turn ANYONE away for ANY reason...insurance or not WE HAD TO SEE AND TREAT EVERYONE that walked through our doors and wanted to be seen. To refuse to see someone would have shut the hospital down.
  6. i wish i could hunt. Living in hawaii there's practically no where to hunt. I love guns. I wish sometimes I could live in Hawaii
  7. I love to hunt and fish. Although I'm not for sure if hunting and fishing is considered a "sport". I guess I dont put a label on it, its just something I love to do. I Bowhunt alot and shoot in a lot of tourny's. I also love to hike, camp, stuff like that. Basically I love to do just about anything if its outdoors.
  8. If I tried that, I would fall on my big fat head and crack my skull open.....
  9. Sounds like the school I attend. Not big on philosophy, big on discipline, but we do learn the history of the art of Shotokan.
  10. I could blame it on my weight, but then that is admitting that I am fat! Hey, were not fat........were just short for our weight
  11. Man, I hate you.....you posted an exercise that really helps but hurts SO BAD.......(just kidding on the "hate" part )......seriously, I've been doing that exercise for about 2 weeks and I can REALLY tell a difference....Thank you for posting it......

  14. Hey hey hey thats my stratagey.............
  15. I know I'm probably gonna get blasted by asking such a stupid question, but its something I was pondering on the other day....FIRST off let me say that I know that doing any kind of MA technique is not a good idea if you havent properly stretched first....but my question is..have any of you guys/gals ever performed any of your kicks (not in full force but just kinda half power) while you WEREN'T stretched to see what your "range" is in case you ever got into a street fight or whatnot. I know in cases of fights that other factors come into play such as adreniline and whatnot....but I was curious if any of you ever tested to see what your "muscle memory" was. Like I said not full hard kicks or anything like that, but enough to test to see where you can place them without stretching. Again, I FULLY understand that this is probably a VERY stupid idea of doing something before properly stretching but I was just curious. Sorry for asking such a dumb question. Thanks.
  16. Not sure about the deep dish, but the "stuffed" pizza ( I think this is what you are referring to) is the stuff crust pizza, where the crust of the pizza is actually filled with cheese, I LOVE it.....
  17. Double pepperoni (spelling?)...stuff crust....mmmmmmmmm
  18. If you don't like us, why don't you just say so? With respect, Sohan I....I....I love you man...
  19. your welcome very much...I spoke nothing but the truth..IMO....
  20. I visit alot of other sites that pertain to other hobbies I have (hunting, fishing) and other news and political forums.....but I must admit the people in this forum have the greatest amount of kindness, manners, and respect out of ANY forums Ive ever visted. Doesnt matter what the topic is.....from MA and religion...too different styles, doesnt matter if opinions differ either.....all the posts Ive ever read are made with utmost respect..I think that says ALOT about, not only the people on here, but what I think disciplines us to have that "respect"......the martial arts.
  21. Umm....lets see....many moons ago, when I was 160lbs..I benched 305lbs once and squatted 510lbs once...that was a LONG time and about 55lbs ago.....
  22. Let's say your driving down the road, and you notice a woman and man standing outside a convience store having a noticable heated argument. No grabbing, hitting, but obviously very verbally heated. Do you go back to make sure things are ok, or do you keep driving?
  23. ......Rock on!!! I think you and I are probably kin somehow.....
