There are a lot of things you can make. When I was younger we used to take pillows and tape them together and tie old karate belts to them to make a kicking shield. It didn't work that great but it was better than nothing.

I would say the combination would def. work. I train in TKD and feel it is a pretty good self defense system. Some of the stuff you wouldn't use but the basic kicks and such will. Boxing is a great art. If you don't agree then fight a boxer. Just don't take on too much that you get confused.

Most schools I've trained at I've been really close friends with the other instructors and students. with this sport people tend to develope very close relationships that last a lifetime.

Pushups use larger muscles so they take longer to heal. I would give at least a day between sets for your body to recover.

What it sounds like then is that your hip isn't lined up properly. If you don't push your hip out when you throw the kick it will cause your body to form a "V" and that will cause the problem. Concentrate on proper technique. You want to have your instep lined with your kicking hip to the opposite hip all the way to your shoulder and standing foot. This forms the propper technique for a round kick.

I haven't gotten to play in 2 days now and it's killing me. Hopefully I'll get an hour or so tonight to play some more.

I had the same problem years ago. What I did was just practice with the left kama only. Whenever I was home I would grab one kama use it in my left hand and spin it that way. Some people can only spin the left one if they have the right one spinning also. Try that. Also if you can find another kama that is a bit heavier that will help also.

I thought you were going to say you were in your 50's or something. 16 is a great age to start. That way you're not too young yet not too old. Def. start training if that is what you wan to do.

Your best bet is to look on Ebay and buy a new sword. If something is damaged on the sword you could get seriously injured. Be careful...

I think if they are just doing tumbling and basic kicks for a 20 minute class or so it isn't bad. Much longer than that though is a waste of time. It is good to teach them body control but really nothing more

Here in Boston they are Illegal. The reason behind it was because of the old New York gangs of the late 70's early 80's. It was a weapon of choice so like everything in this state they ban them. Funny part is though you can buy them at almost any mall.

Just talk to her. Don't be rude but make a joke and say "my mothers friend thinks I'm taking you to the prom, people must confuse a karate gi with a tuxedo" Make a joke out of it and see how she responds. That is one way to do it. Or you can just ask her how she feels about you. If you are thinking all this it is better to find out striaght fromt he source. Depends on what you are doing. Are you conditioning yourself in ways you don't know what you're doing or were you taught what you should be doing?

Funny thing about Rosie is that she is so against firearms and such yet her bodyguards carry them. So it's ok for her to be defended with them but not us? Why is that?
