Have a question about Sa Jang
bushido_man96 replied to cnada's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Oooh, ouch! You don't like the tae-gueks? -
Gotcha. Thanks, PAL. The form looked similar to me. What was made up in it?

Kung Fu In Combat

Could you elaborate on this point, please? I am interested in your opinion, as I don't know a whole lot about the monks. -
I occasionally like to break wind while sparring, just to see if I can get my opponent to wrinkle his nose!!!

Ok, I was all pumped up because I am going to be elligible to test in April. However, I found out that the testing fees are not what I thought they were. I thought I was going to be able to test for 3rd dan recommended and decided for around $500 total. I found out yesterday that each testing is going to cost $400 a piece!!!!!!!! $800 to get to 3rd dan! Does this sound unreasonable to anyone else, or is it just me? How much have any of you paid for a testing?

This is kind of a fun variation on push-ups that I used to do. Get a partner, and get into push-up position, facing each other. Pick a number, like 5. One person starts by doing one push-up, then the other does one, while the previous person waits in push-up postition. Then the person who started does 2, then waits while the other does 2, and so on up to 5; then, you work you way back down. It is a good drill, and it makes you hang in there and push each other.

I don't know why, but this makes me feel bad....

Yeah, you're right, Kirsty. It just kind of ate at me a little bit, you know? -
Football is so fickle, isn't it, Patrick? As for Huard, he has been really efficient. His numbers have not been spectacular from a fantasy or Pro Bowl stand-point, but he has done a great job of managing games, and making good decisions. Even if Green had been playing on Sunday, I don't see how the result would have been different.

I was browsing around, trying to find some sledgehammer routines, when I stumbled across this: http://www.shovelglove.com/ I thought it was interesting. It looks like it could have some benefits, but it wasn't what I was looking for. It did catch my eye, though. What do y'all think?

It is important to continue to train, but it is also important to not injure ourselves. You have recognized you ability, and you have adapted, so you are doin the right thing. I do think that adaptation is the key. What you lose in speed, strength, and reaction time, you will gain in experience. I would say to keep up the training, and just try to do your best to improve, but not get hurt.

Hey, alright! Now you're talking, Sohan!!! However, I think I should probably stay away from that one. I am going to have to exercise some self-control on this one. But it looks soooooo good!

Sounds cool. You could try filling it with rags, to see if it doesn't get too hard.

I thought this one looked good. By a "nightmare" version, do you mean that you did not like it? I thought it looked ok, but I am no expert in karate kata, by any stretch.

I came up the ranks with this very rule in the dojang. My feelings are that it is a very good rule.

Question Regarding Hapkido
bushido_man96 replied to soonerjas's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Good advise here. I would continue with the Thai training you have to offset the hapkido locks and throws. -
I get my fees reduced some as well, but up until 3 weeks ago, I was teaching one class a week as well, and I can teach any of the classes that he has. I fill in whenever he needs someone to teach as well.

Kung Fu In Combat
bushido_man96 replied to MizuRyu's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
The sport aspect has not hurt the value of TKD, unqualified instructors have. There are some very good Olympic TKD athletes out there, with good form technique as well as fighting skills. I think it was just as you said: a matter of skill level. There is always someone better. -
I knew that llamas would spit. I would like to see that, then you could knock it out, like Conan did to the camel!

The fact that the Chiefs lost may benefit you. Huard has been so strong, that everyone is wondering if the switch back should be made. It may be an easier decision to make now. Every Chief fan remembers the Rich Gannon/Elvis Grbac ordeal. Gannon went to a Super Bowl, and Grbac left football. But who knows, we maybe would have never ended up with Trent then. Good pick with Rivers. He had 40 points in my league this week. No more Marty-ball in San Diego. I think Tomlinson is going to break Alexander's rushing touchdown record this year as well.

I had round one of Thanksgiving dinners this last weekend, as my wife's family's had their get together already. My father-in-law deep-fat-fried a turkey (man, was it great!!!!), my wife made mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes (carbs, hooray carbs!), and I also had some stuffing, corn on the cobb, and some apple pie for desert. Now I am ready for round two, this weekend, at my parents!

I have trouble with the double round kicks. Not two kicks with the same leg, but the back leg (or front) followed immediately by kicking with the other leg. I can kind of do it on the bag, but it isn't very smooth, and it takes a little while to get it going. Not using the bag, it just looks horrible. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!
