It sounds like you have the yeoman's work cut out for you! As for the pre-registration, in my experience, the pre-registration fee has been about $10 less than the regular fee. I imagine insurance would be your top priority. I would focus on that first. Line up some parents that can work the trophy table and concessions, that way you have your own students free to run around and help out in the rings. I hope some of this helps!

I have heard of people taking a baby aspirin a day, to help thin the blood. I would talk to the doctor before just doing it, though.

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I suppose it would be possible. I think it would take a lot of time. The forms are not the same, but it could happen, given time. -
Welcome to KF, G-Man!

Concerns about an aspect of my trainging

This is good advise. Work on your speed and control, and then work on making a little contact when you spar your instructor. Just remember, the kids will get older, and then you will be able to apply what you want as well. Also, bearich had a great idea, too. -

Wow, that is funny! I wonder if he ever watched the cartoon? I opened the website, saw the picture on the top left, in just the "ninja mask," and immediately closed the site! -
What do you do while posting? I usually watch SportsCenter, or something like that. Sometimes, I'll do some reps kicking or punching the heavy bag, or do a form or two between posts.

Sounds good. I may have to try that out.

Sorry to hear that, Kerry. Is there any medication you can take for it?

There is a lot of good advise here. It all comes in time. Just practice diligently, and you will see improvement. Welcome to the Forums!

This is a problem at my school. We don't do any forms applications, and hardly any self-defense applications, for that matter. There can be more to forms than just this. However, it is up to the instructor to make it more (train applications). Sometimes, it just seems that forms are required curriculum. I think that this is a problem with the way that many things are done in the martial arts, and not just the forms. I like this. Very good point. Yes, the UFC is bound by rules, however, the UFC is the only event that is relatively close to what an actual encounter can produce. Aside from the limited rule set, the training that MMA fighters do is done against resisting partners, which makes for a more accurate training scenario. The lower that you make your base, then the wider you usually have to move your feet apart. Although this will give you some stability, it also presents a leg way out infront as a target. Also, the wider your stance is, the harder it is to transition into another position. That is why boxers, Thai boxers, and Olympic TKD stylists prefer much higher, mobile fighting stances.

Royce Gracie

So was Randy Courture. He was still competitive. So is Rickson Gracie for that matter. Anyone here want to go against him? Um, sure, if there is a paycheck involved! Personally, I would rather fight Royce rather than any kickboxer....at least with Royce, you don't have to worry about getting too messed up! Just know when to tap out, and you go home in one piece. You probably won't even be walking funny, either! -

I guess we usually don't have to worry about so many bystanders, up there in the jail, so we can be a bit more liberal with the spray. -
I kind of like the sound of that. I think that it would be a good time. It would definetly get me into shape, that is for sure!

I have heard of this test, also, and it is quite valid. There aren't a lot of quick draw holsters out there any more, and definitely not LEO issued. The holsters that LEOs use are made to keep others from grabbing their gun in a scuffle, or from behind. However, it does make the draw slower. Even against a quick draw, the knifer may still have the advantage. If it were me with the knife, I'd rather the gunman was shooting from the hip than getting a chance to draw and aim.
