hey AT, when i first started karate i was an overweight kid, now days with the right foods and the continuous training ive actually lost well over 15kg, not sure what tht is in pounds! but im loving every moment of it. I agree with brandon when he talks about tkd, its good and all but yeah id did the same thing! left it to all the thin lean people. karate the way to go in my opinion, but u may wanna take up MMA or another martial art!

yeah i just looked it up on google and it said some german scientist found those nerve cells in the gut, which relate to the brain. I tend to tell myself to think with the core, so my centre of blance doesnt arise through kumite etc etc
-
When i went to Yamaguchi Saiko Shihan's seminar at Yamba, NSW, Australia, Saiko Shihan told us about moving our "tanden/core" when moving in any stance, even if its kata, kihon or bunkai. As we all know, thats what we should do, hence why we learn basics. But what really got me interested when he called the "tanden" a brain. I thought this was a good interperation. But when i got home, i got onto google and searched stomach and brain, and it came across (to some this may be old new) they have actually found over a 100 billion nerve cells in a knot near the intestine. This is more nerve activity then a human back has. So tht "gut feeling" that you have next time, might actually be your stomach "brain" aka your 2nd brain telling you. anyways thts my two cence. Simo

haha yes i hav had the same problem when i was younger, doing Mokusoh and gettin a little to relaxed. Another funny thing tht happend was we did some kumite with the lights off in total darkness, just juho, and when the lights came back on, a few people had different partners unlike when they bowd in!

Thinking about expanding martial art.
Simo replied to Simo's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I will never leave goju, i will never leave my sensei/ dojo, but yes, i wuld like to experience hapkido, not only for the art, but also the Korean Culture side aswell! I think tht is how i learn, not only from the art, but all the "theory" side of things, there customs. for example, the dicipline from Japan, wuld differ from the Korean way or diciplin, but yer, if u can kinda see what im getting at! Thanks for all ur replys! keep them coming! -
