    Ibuki Breathing

yeh i have also found that it has made my core alot more stronger, and recovery much quicker, its so awesome how such old methods and natural methods can make a difference in your training and outside your training.
  8. I have to say, since practicing Sanchin Kata, and using the ibuki breathing, i have found some performance in my asthma and when feeling sluggish, it motivates and refreshes my body? How has it helped you?
  9. i think tht they can be trained in unison, but what really gets me is the instructor, always relates back to this point and u would get a point if u do that, if they clearly always say that its a self defence..
  10. From what i know about the differences between Shotokan and Goju Ryu are the following things: 1. In Shotokan, it is more competition based, unlike Goju. 2. Shotokan includes alot more of a reaching stance, example, when in the stance zankutsu dachi, it is extended more than Goju. Which leads to my next point; 3. Goju is more a close quater style, where as Shotokan attacks and defence is over a distance, espically when sparring. Well personally i think they are some differences between both styles and being a Goju Ryu pracitioner i think Shotokan has its good points, and i think a Shotokan student/sensei/shihan what not wuld have the same views..
  11. Personally i am a traditionalist, i think karate as a self defence and a way of life. Even though i see some benefit in competition, which personally i think is the training eg. Conditioning (depending on the competition), carido etc etc. What are your thoughts on this??

Hey the kata i like wuld have to be, Sanchin! I think it is a workout in its self; Internally, becuase of the ikibuki breathing and physically, because the movements are basics, but without basic, where would we be
  13. The injuries that i have got from training are; Received a fracture to my MCP joint for those that dont know where the MCP joint is, is inbetween the thumb and the index finger, from throwing a punch with the not correct fist. Also I have been punched in the jaw, and now, my jaw clicks when eating bread, or if i have slept unevenly.. Once again poor form when holding kamae, but since then i have learnt well.
  14. In the dojo i train in, i tend to use "osu" when i engaged a formal conversation with Sensei, Dans and Kyu's. Also as a formal acknowledgement. I use the term "Hai" to show i understand what has been said, either if it is a technique shown or a theroietical issue.
